what i've been up to

You're probably wondering what I've been up to lately! I don't call, I don't write... well, I've been a busy bee working to create my own hand dyed yarn line. And, it hasn't been just me. Last year when I left my corporate job, I sat down with my family: hubby, daughter, brother, his long time girlfriend, my mom and dad, and I told them my hopes and aspirations. I've been wanting to hand dye and sell yarn since I began knitting almost a decade ago. You remember back when hand dyers were just starting to emerge and gain some popularity. All those years I imagined myself over a dye pot man handling some wool, but life, work and you know whatever else us moms do seemed to always get in the way. Well, now my baby is almost a teenager (eeek!), I've kicked the steady paycheck and mind numbing computer work to the curb, stopped cleaning my house, convinced my non-knitting little brother that dyeing yarn is about the coolest job of jobs on earth and decided to throw caution to the wind and follow my dreams. It's all so very exciting and scary all at the same time.

I don't want to bore you with the details, but I've definitely not been able to do all of this alone. I have an amazing support system, my family, close friends and a new job and co-workers at Tolt Yarn and Wool that has filled a void in my heart I didn't even know I had. Just yesterday, we had our very first trunk show at Tolt and it was a huge success! If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen these pictures already...

If you're wondering, the yarn isn't available to the online public yet. It's exclusively available at Tolt Yarn & Wool in Carnation, WA, for now; however, we're working hard on getting our remaining palettes of colors chosen, dyed up, photographed and online at YOTH Yarns for your hot little hands to get to knitting soon. In the meantime, I have a new pattern I released on Ravelry today. Her name is 'izel', and originally I was shooting to have this be my holiday time freebie last December.

You can see that never happened, so here she is now. Better late than never! And, because she is priced at $6, here is a coupon code for my knitting blog friends so you can get her for FREE. Use: myYOTHpeeps during checkout from now until the end of March 30th. Merry Christmas a few months late!

Happy knitting!
