The winner of the Yarnia custom house blend cone is:

Andy who said, "Wow! That is So Cool! I've never heard of Yarnia before."

Congratulations! Please contact me at yarnonthehouse@gmail.com to collect your prize.

Now that the holidays are over, I've been busy dreaming of what beautiful knits I can make for MYSELF! I love gifting hand knits, don't get me wrong, but this year I've decided to knit more for moi. We'll see how long that lasts... so far so good though. I have my first selfish FO to share with you, but before I do that I want to introduce you to this week's sponsor, cosymakes. Meet Cosy...

Links and such from the videos:

- cosymakes site

- cosymakes Etsy shop

- Cosy's spinning fiber

- Mixed Knits e-book

- Mixed Knits e-book on Rav

- Knit One, Embellish Too book

- Knitting for Dummies book

- Flathead Lake in Montana

- Evening in Missoula tea (hope this is the right one!)

Thank you, Cosy for visiting us and being our lovely sponsor this week! I stumbled across Cosy's Etsy shop while browsing for new yarns a couple months back, and I couldn't resist picking up a skein of her snapdragon light fingering yarn. It's a 100% wool and 700 yards! I also love that Cosy uses greener shades dyes, which are more friendly to our Mother Earth. Check out the beautiful Spring Leaves stole I knit up for MYSELF!

By the way, this is a free pattern! You can check out my Rav project notes here.

Cosy is generously sponsoring this week's giveaway. ONE lucky follower has the chance to win a copy of the Mixed Knits e-book and 2 skeins of hand dyed yarn from her Etsy shop (this does not include handspun yarn and fiber). Also, TWO runners up will each receive 2 individual PDF patterns of their choice. Check out Cosy's fabulous patterns here!

I would like you to do the following if you would like to be entered into this week's giveaway:

1. Read over the rules if you have not done so already.

2. Leave a comment on this blog post by the end of Sunday, 1/30/11. What's your knitting plans for this year? Are you going to knit more for yourselves or more for your dear ones?

I'll randomly pick the winners on Sunday and post the results on Monday along with the new giveaway, so be sure to check back. Good luck everyone.

Sincerely,

Ve

After all the epic Christmas knitting, I am focusing on stuff for ME. Also, I am going to attempt to knit a pair of socks every month this year.

My knitting plan this year is to be strategic about my projects, so I can enter something in each category at the state fair. It might sound lame, but the prize for winning is 8 skeins of alpaca!

My knitting plans for the year? A sweater for myself!

I have to say I need to knit more for myself. Although I just enjoy knitting no matter who its for ! I have been learning to spin as well...so that I would say would be something I will be doing more this year. Cosy's fibers are amazing ! Thank you so much !

So far this year I've been knitting for my friends and family members, but I cannot wait to make knits for myself too - it's been in order for a while.
Lovely shawl Ve and well done J for modelling it!!!

Beautiful!

Knitting wise, I plan on toning things down this year. I've reached the point where, yes, I can knit complex and flashy things, but what I'd really like to achieve is understated elegance.

Moonstitches is an inspiration!

My knitting plan for the year is to knit more for myself and try to use up as much stash yarn as I can. So far, I've made 4 hats (none of which were for me) and I'm working on a sweatervest for my hubby. I have used stash yarn, though!!! I enjoyed meeting Cosy! Thank you again for another great giveaway!

My plans are to do a combination of knitting for myself and knitting for others. I would really love to do a sweater this year. I'll probably do a baby sweater first, I've heard that's the easiest way to go. I don't have any babies yet so I'll either give it as a gift or save it.

I love Cosy! What a wondeful treat.
This year I do intend to make more knits for myself and actually try to wear them! :)

I hope to do more for myself, but I am presently finishing a birthday gift and will be making a shrug for my daughter. I also hope to post a few of my patterns for sale this year.

I plan on finishing this: http://ravel.me/nosierosie/lrilatpwtb
and knitting a baby blanket for my sister's baby. I am not much a selfish knitter, and I never plan to be!

This year is the year I am going to knit something for myself. I have been knitting for 3 years and don't own a single hand knit?!

StaceyKnitsIt said...

I'll be knitting mostly for my baby and myself this year.

Lovely FO! Lots of yardage too!

I'm knitting more for myself right now, since I just slogged through Christmas and had to make stuff for everyone else.

As for the rest of the year, well, we'll see what happens!

One thing I plan to do is a self-imposed sock knitting club for each month of this year. Some will go to me, others for gifts. I also have a lot of baby knittin' to do :-)

My knitting plans this year is to finish the scarf I started making for my mom - then attempt a pair of socks!

The Brussels Sprout Mitts are too cute! I <3 fingerless mitts! I've been thinking about making something green lately. Maybe I'm ready for spring.

I plan to try knitting a sweater (I might start with a baby sweater, though). I'll probably knit mostly for myself, since a lot of the people around me don't seem to interested in the things I'm knitting.

What beautiful yarn! And your Spring Leaves stole came out gorgeous. :)

I have three projects planned for myself this year, as last year I knit mostly for family. Everyone got handmade/handknit gifts for birthdays and Christmas 2010. Now it's my turn!

I came over by coincidence from Cosy's etsy shop! Beautiful stuff. This will be the year of sweaters for me, as I've finally decided to tackle them. I've made a baby sweater and doll sweater so far...me next!

Definitely more selfish knitting for me too! Monkey socks are on the needles now and almost done. Have a couple more pairs of socks in line and a hat. Would love to do a cardi for myself but haven't narrowed down the pattern yet.
Cozy's yarn and patterns look lovely! Thanks for introducing us to new sellers that we may not have seen before!

My plans are.... finishing my WIPs- most importantly the "engagement sweater" for my betrothed. He was supposed to wait to pop the question until I finished, but he beat me to it!

I'd like to knit my first sweater this year! I also like knitting for friends and family, but would like to actually finish things before someone's birthday :)

Your work is so beautiful!
My knitting plans this year are for more selfish knitting. My socks are all in quite a state and I spent all last year knitting an afghan for my sister-in-law's wedding gift. I finished it up January 1st and have been starting projects like mad.

Faith (the Vampire Slayer) said...

I plan to knit mostly for me this year. I am finishing up my masters thesis and have a wedding to plan so this is the year of "me, me, me!"

I am working on my TKGA Master Knitter Level 1 course In addition, I am planning to knit for myself including a cotton sweater to wear at work and an Adamas Shawl.

Elspeth H. said...

I have a feeling that 2011 will be the year of my first sweater! It's a pretty big deal for me! :)

I'll be making more knits for my dear ones, especially in the form of Christmas gifts. I was only able to pull off one hand-knit gift this year because I started so late. I've remedied that and have already made felted elf slippers for my daughter!

Carol said...

My plans are to knit some for me, some for other, but mostly to knit. ;D

I always promise myself that I'll knit more for me, and then the spirit of the season gets me. This year, I'm really going to focus on me!

I'd like to keep knitting for myself, and knit a couple of items for others

Thanks for the giveaway!

I'm going to try to knit out of my stash a bit - this may dictate what I make rather than buying yarn for what I want to make. Friends may end up with hats or mittens or maybe I'll make a couple larger projects out of several complimentary yarns...we'll see.

Chris said...

I'd liek to learn some new techniques...entrelac, garment design, etc. I don't know if it'll really happen, but I'ld love it to!

CarolineN said...

Just learn about Cosymakes. And what lovely bright colours she has. She's now part of my favourites on Etsy! 700 yards of light fingering... that's awesome!

Beth said...

This is definitely a year of more knitting for me, specifically socks.
Your spring leaves stole captures spring beautifully.

my plans for this year are to finish other people's projects so I can start MY OWN lol. I love knitting for other people, but I'm ready to have stuff for me...

Leesy said...

I'm knitting more for myself. Still, I knit a lot for charity and for my kids. I hope to get a few me-sized sweaters done, though.

JP said...

Anything that will use up my overwhelming stash from a frogged project. Lots and lots of acrylic so I envision charity hats, unless my family speaks up with requests. I still have my "good" stash which is all mine, mine, mine. But the acrylic far outweighs it :(
