Hi, folks! Hope everyone is doing well. I've been enjoying reading and logging all the fun questions that you left me last giveaway in your comments. There's quite a few of them to answer, so I've decided that over the course of the next few weeks I'll be doing some blog posts to answer all of your questions. This should be fun! And, thank you for all of your sweet comments.

Well, well... this week I have a luxurious giveaway for you! Our wonderful sponsor and guest is Sabrina of Anzula Luxury Fibers. I had fun interviewing her a few weeks back. Check out our chat together (I apologize for the sound feedback; unfortunately, our connection wasn't perfect):

Links and such from the videos:

- Anzula Luxury Fibers

- Purchase Anzula at Purl Soho & Sandra Singh

- TNNA trade shows

- Look at all the lovely colors and yarns on Ravelry!

- Mermaid, Sebastian, & Oasis

- Sabrina on Rav

- Cricket

Thank you, Sabrina, for visiting us and come back anytime!

Anzula's beautiful yarns and fibers can be found online at Purl Soho & Sandra Singh. Sabrina is so talented at dyeing up gorgeous semi solids! I would love to knit myself a sweater out of her For Better or Worsted in the Charcoal colorway, and knit up a lace shawl or stole out of the Wash My Lace in maybe the Toffee color. Honestly, any of the Anzula yarns and fibers would rock my world!

Sabrina is sponsoring THREE ridiculously wonderful prizes for three lucky followers to have a chance to win:

Grand Prize winner will receive 5 skeins of Cricket MCN (that stands for Merino, Cashmere, Nylon for those of you who don't know) in the lovely color Prince! Each skein boasts 250 yards and I got to thinking, hmmmmm... a 1,000 yards of sport weight yarn. That's enough for a Goodale sweater in almost all the sizes available! I quickly contacted Cecily, the uber-talented designer, and twisted her arm to toss in a PDF copy of her pattern for the grand prize winner. Wink, wink! I really want to knit this neat cardi myself in the very near future. I absolutely adore the genius construction of the pockets and I think it would be a super addition to my spring and summer wardrobe.

FIVE skeins of Cricket in Prince

How awesome would a Goodale sweater be outta this yarn?!

Also, TWO runners up will receive one of the below luxury skeins of fingering weight yarn:

Squishy in Candied Apple

Sebastian Seacell/Merino in Charcoal

I would like you to do the following if you would like to be entered into this week's giveaway:

1. Read over the rules if you have not done so already.

2. Leave a comment on this blog post by the end of Sunday, 3/13/11. What's your favorite spring time color to knit with? Or, do you knit in the same color(s) all year long?

I tend to lighten or brighten my knitting color palette when the weather starts warming up. For me it's the smell and sight of flowers that inspires me to buy cheerful colors to knit with. Actually, some of my favorite colors are muted pastels and I just love knitting them when spring's around the corner!

I'll randomly pick the winners in 2 weeks and post the results along with the new giveaway, so be sure to check back. Good luck everyone.

Sincerely,

Ve

I find that I tend to knit in blue and purples year round. I am currently trying very hard to branch out in my colors but still find that most of my stash is blue and purple LOL.

Laura said...

Green! Oh wait, I do knit with green all year round. But it is definitely a spring color!

Catherine said...

I go for the lighter colors like lavender or a soft butter for my spring socks.

I love bright GREEN in the spring. Thanks for hosting the giveaway, it would be a great one to win!

I can't help but be drawn to the same colors year-round!

Deep purple that reminds me of crocuses just starting to bud in the garden

Julie said...

I have lots of ideas about brightening up my knitting but I usually end up in the same color range - Thanks for the giveaway!

Ooh! The colors are gorgeous!! Anything bright gets me out of the MI winter doldrums. Happy oranges, fresh greens, the possibilities are endless!

Anonymous said...

For the projects planned for this spring, I'm planning to use some gentler shades, like lilac and lighter pinks, while in winter I used bolder purples and reds. Still, I'm not sure this is so much a habit as just my current mood.

Alice said...

I just received a skein of Azula Squishy as a (completely unnecessary) gift as an apology for a delayed shipment. I can testify it is heavenly. I do tend to lighten up my knitting in spring--lavender instead of purple; lighter and pinker reds, and I really like whites and neutrals with some color splattered about.

Krystal said...

I find myself picking bright colors when I am sick of winter, which may or may not coincide with the end of winter. This year I have been leaning towards bright yellowish greens.

Suzanne said...

I enjoyed listening to the interview and so did my son. He's home sick today. I noticed I pulled out a skein of bamboo yarn in greens and pinks. Yes, spring is definitely in the air.

Clicky Needles said...

I'm a bit of a winter girl. Plums, maroon, purple.
Although having said that I have just bright some quite zingy green. :-O

I always seem to knit blues. All year. Maybe this spring I should try something else...

Deniz said...

on the one hand i find i tend to knit all year around with greys- charcoals... but I also get very much inspired by my photography..so i find myself knitting in similar colours like my paintings and jewellery-- and often discover that they match my photography, hence i am totally influenced by my surrounding colours :):):)

Right now I'm loving knitting bright greens. It makes me feel like spring has already sprung. It's even nicer since I'm knitting up some Anzula Cloud.

KatJobson said...

I love me some aqua teal in the spring time. Oh and the Squishy is so delightful as is all of their yarns.

Emily said...

I love bright, fresh, springy greens, particularly in the spring, ... but really anytime of the year.

Knittingdancer on Ravelry said...

I knit with a lot of different all year since I do a lot of charity knitting. All 3 colors of the prize yarn are beautiful and would be fun to knit.

Amber said...

Sometimes it's nice to knit in brighter colours in the middle of winter to cheer yourself up! For me it really depends on what I'm knitting. If it's a spring garment then I'd probably knit in a lighter/brighter colour.

Amanda Rudd said...

I definitely move into the blues and purples come spring time. During the winter they just remind me how dark it is, but springtime reminds me of fresh rain/sunshine and blues/purples are fitting.

lyssa said...

I love bright color all year round, but in spring I start thinking about delicate pink sweaters to match the cherry blossoms blooming, and delicate cornflower blues to match the pale spring skies after thunderstorms.

I just found this blog through Sabrina - she was delightful in person at Stitches West, and a fabulous dyer. I look forward to exploring this blog more; it looks fantastic!

Eva said...

I tend to favor richer colors most of the year. I like bright shades, but nothing "light".

LeAnn said...

The colors I knit change from project to project. Sometimes I choose the color to fit the recipient, other times I will pick the color to suit the pattern. I do love Spring and Fall colors!

pink is another fave year round.

i just discovered anzula at stitches west this year (my first stitches experience!) and am in LOVE with all their yarns.

Anett Kiefer said...

The skeins are looking fantastic. I don't have a favourite spring colour but I am knitting a sweater in a cream-colour and I like it very much.

Burgundy, charcoal and black are year round for me. However, I do have some blue and seafoam green linen that I'd like to whip up into a tunic type top. Burgundy is another favorite.

Galia Lael said...

My choice of color is mood-dependent. One day I like purples, the other day I like earth tones. The season has nothing to do with my choice. I knit with whatever color captures my imagination at the time.

Unknown said...

This spring I am knitting with greens, navy blue and cloudy sky blue, red and teal. Anything other than whatever color snow turns when it starts to melt and the sand and road dust kicks up on it!

Toadstool Knittery said...

I like to knit with light colours for Spring, especially light greens and yellows, or a very delicate pink. Oh I'm so looking forward to Spring! And it is approaching already, I can smell it in the air and the birds outside are making such a racket, it's wonderful =)

That yarn is A-mazing!!!!! As far as knitting and color goes, I noticed that I tend to knit more brightly colored items in the Fall/Winter, and knit a lot of neutrals in the Spring and Summer. I guess that's how I find balance though I didn't exactly plan it that way. Thanks for offering up such a luxurious giveaway!

I knit with the same colors all year long. I love blues and greens, but every now and again I'll find a warm red or yellow that I have to have.

Heather said...

Bright yellow. I live in Maine, so yellow is a lovely bright color to help while away the time until the snow is all melted.

We have about 3 feet of it. Still.

For some reason, this spring my favorite color seems to be pink but in the past it's always been pale greens and blues.

This is my very first spring as a knitter.. but I've noticed I'm leaning toward the brighter colors as the days get longer. :-) I'm currently knitting in apple green (Malabrigo). I've recently discovered your blog - and I'm loving it!

Betsy said...

I tend to knit with fairly vibrant colors year-round. I wouldn't say that I use brighter colors for Spring. Of course, living in the Bay Area, our weather doesn't change radically from Winter to Spring and it's always the right weather for a Cardi, shawl or scarf! I love Sabrina's yarns and have already made a Brandywine Shawl with Anzula Cloud in the colorway Heidi, which was wonderful to work with and came out beautifully.

I like to knit with pastel yellows, oranges or pinks in the spring. I love those colors, and in the spring, they are happy and airy. :)

I love greens - i make gloves year round, but the colors i knit with reflect the weather, so winter gloves turn out in reds and browns, spring is usually time for making green gloves, and summer is time for those multicolored crazy gloves for my sister!

Cali4niaGirl said...

For Springtime I can't resist, appropriately, Spring Green: lime sherbert, chartruese, grass... the color by any name would still look as fresh! Easter egg pastels are also favorites.

Thank you, ladies, for the give away items and opportunity to win such scrumptious yarns and lovely pattern!

kmsears said...

I am starting to lean towards more muted colors as spring seems near here in the northeast. I love lavender. In fact I am knitting a shawl now in a variegated yarn but lavender is the main color.

claudey said...

I use pretty much the same colors, but my favorite color is a nice celadon or limey yellow-green. :)

Debbie said...

I tend to knit with bright colors all year long. The spring and summer is so short here in alaska that I like to be bright all the time. I especially like jewel tone colors. Thanks! Debbie

Maryse said...

It is nice getting to know Sabrina and she does have some very nice hand-dyed yarns! Since I've started knitting, I've sort of stopped knitting as soon as the warmer days arrive. However, I intend to continue to knit this year. I don't have any specific colors in mind but would like to knit a few pairs of socks. I have so Classic Elite Sox in pastels. That could do the trick (unless I cast on this winter!)

Ooohh, FAB interview with Ms. Sabrina. I loved hearing about her Anzula yarns.

Come Spring time, I love to pull out that black yarn and get started knitting it up. The light outside is brighter and helps with seeing that stitch definition.
And, then in honor of the start of a fresh season, I also like to knit periwinkle blue. I'm thinking a little shrug style sweater for those cool Spring nights.
Ciao~

The Prince colour is gorgeous, and I love the pattern, it is a perfect combo. I knit the same sorts of colours whatever the colour of year. Any colour but yellow or orange.

Sabrina, the yarn looks delicious!
I usually knit with the same colors all year. I am currently knitting with a fabulous red, but as the weather warms up, I have been very drawn to lime greens and rich blues.

Depends what I'm making. It is fun to play with new colors after a dreary winter.

CeltChick said...

Well, green is almost always a go-to color for me. I will lighten up in the spring, looking for spring green or lime green rather than olive or forest green. Not to say I don't kint with other colors! I'm finishing a lace beret in a deep purple alpaca blend -- but I do have another beret in light green (Stitch Nation Bamboo Ewe in Sprout) blocking right now!

beccarowley said...

What spectacular yarn! I tend to prefer blues and greens most of the year, but do find myself enjoying almost every color. Yay for color!

Prince is my perfect colour for spring and my husband's favourite hue! I never knit him anything and he sits at his desk in our house every day and freezes in this interminably COLD English winter, so I guess I could knit him a scarf!

Green! I would normally say that I didn't have one specific colro for spring knitting, but lately I'm all over the greens.
Normally I just have to walk into the LYS and be grabbed by a color. I love the tonals...not so much for the verigated yarns.

OH my! First of all I must say that I am IN LOVE With the For Better or Worsted in the Grace colorway! Absolutely gorgeous! Ah!
Okay, now on the the rest. I think my favorite spring color will have to be a tie between any shade of turquoise or lavender. Love them both. Although I am really liking the Cantaloupe colorway of the For Better or Worsted. Very pretty! :)

I tend to knit with whatever color I'm in the mood for. Another factor would be if I'm making for someone specific (my sister for instances, loves pale orange and peach-toned colors, while my grandmother loves deep purples). Weather doesn't often play a part in my color choices, unless it's been particularly gloomy, then I choose something bright and cheery to work with.
