giveaway #77

Last giveaway was an epic fail! Sorry, for the absence on the blogosphere. Unfortunately, the giveaway yarn never arrived. Sad, but true. Things happen, and I think that our package got lost in transit. Maybe someday it'll show up and I can save it away for a rainy day, but for now I have another giveaway to do.

This giveaway I have a surprise! You won't know what I'm giving away until I announce the winner. I originally had a giveaway scheduled for you, but the sponsor fell through and now here I was without another giveaway prize. So, I've got a really nice prize tucked away for just this sort of thing! And, I'm keeping it all a secret for the fun of it and because I don't have a last minute picture to use besides this...

mystergift

I know your going to love it though! I know, I would! Happy New Year to everyone, and I'll be back in a few days to share a fun project I knit over the holidays for a friend's little boy.

I would like you to do the following if you would like to be entered into this week's giveaway:

1. Read over the rules if you have not done so already.

2. Leave a comment on this blog post by the end of Sunday, 1/15/12. What's your New Year's knitting resolution this year? Do you want to finish all those UFO's, maybe you want to knit through your stash this year, or something else entirely?!

My New Year's knitting resolution is to fully update my Ravelry projects page and keep it up to date! I find myself knitting a lot more than actually photographing, blogging, and sharing my pics on Ravelry of my finished projects, and that's no fun! So, this year is going to be different. I've set some rules for myself. Let's see how it goes!!

I'll randomly pick the winners in 2 weeks and post the results along with the new giveaway, so be sure to check back. Good luck everyone.

Sincerely,

Ve

My resolution this year is to finish my quilt blocks for Warm Up America that I started 2 years ago. not only will this help out a good cause, but it will help keep my stash under control.

I will be cleaning my "Stash Room" and not buying any new yarn this year...

I have three big resolutions: Knit and spin only from stash. Spin with a plan for the resulting yarn. And the toughest... Knit a shawl for each of my children's teachers as end-of-year gifts (which is huge, as it will be about a shawl/month to the end of the school year. Yikes!)

My goals are to stop buying yarn, write some hat patters, improve my colourwork, and do a steek!

My goal is just to keep knitting. I'm about to start a job that will drastically cut into my free time.

Using more of my stash and finishing those UFO's would make 2012 a great year.

Since I have been spending most of the last 9 or 10 years knitting things in rotation for my 5 grandchildren plus for many other new babies and adopted grandkids, my resolution is to take a break and knit something for my husband, sister, and myself before the next round of grandchild knitting. I have a few things to finish first, then maybe I can knit myself a hat before it finally gets cold!

Mine is definitely stash-busting... I have my entire life in a one-room apartment and I'd like to be able to move a little more! Specifically I want to use the stash creatively to make items for my Etsy shop :-)

I am going to really work on knitting my stash down this year. I am going to 1-3 projects from my stash depending on the size and then I will purchase yarn for a project.

My New Year's knitting resolution is to knit some of the patterns I already own, there are some really really awesome ones and I want to knit them all!! :D

I really need to finish that sweater I started over a year ago... I'll do it... I swear!

becca said...

I want to finish the sweater I'm in the middle of and two or three others I have the yarn for. Here's hoping I can do it!

Susan said...

My goal for the new year is simple. Don't buy any (well okay...there are a few exceptions) new yarn until I knit some from stash.

I know I'll be breaking this rule.

Nina said...

Learn to knit stranded or Fair Isle, that's my big challenge. And all for myself!

Karen said...

My knitting goals for the year are so much like others here. Knit more from the stash. Finish UFO's. Knit more gifts. And I can add a beaded shawl to my list. I have the yarn, beads, and a pattern bought.

My resolution - try new techniques!

Keep knitting from my own stash!!!

My knitting resolution for this year is to make a hat out of very fine cotton that will be suitable for year-round hot weather.

my goal this year is to go through all my stash, organize it...and find patterns to knit with it all. whew. exhausted just thinking about that.

I'm with you! Trying to keep my Ravelry up to date- projects and stash. Including yarn weights used/remaining and taking pictures! Also to blog more!

I only have one knitterly New Year's Resolution and that is to finish knitting my boyfriend's sweater! I finished the sleeves and I'm about 1/3 through the body. I just need to keep on trucking.

Martel VM said...

I don't have any big goals for this new year, probably just move to new techniques I haven't explored: garments for adults, toe up socks to start.

Bust stash. Buy more. Repeat.

My resolution is to buy yarn from the US only. That means sheep grown and raised in the US and yarn processed and dyed here. I'm trying to pay more attention to this since I firmly believe that our country's economic problems would go away if we bought products made in the USA. Quince and Shelter yarns are great examples that I would like to try in 2012.

I never have new years resolutions, but I have joined a challenge to use as much yarn as possible from stash, so that'll be interesting. I even entered ALL my yarn into Ravelry this weekend!

Hi, This year my knitting goal would be to challenge myself more with projects that have intimidated me in the past. I would also like to knit for soldiers in the military and newborn babies in the hospital, as I think this would be very rewarding.
Happy Knitting in 2012!

I bought myself really nice yarn for Christmas, so I'd like to make a sweater out of it, use more of my stashed yarn instead of buying more and sell/trade/give away the yarn I'll never use.

I want to knit up more of my stash.

I want to destash all the yarn hiding around my house and I really want to try some more challenging patterns this year. Also, I gave a lot of my knitting away last year so without sounding too selfish, want to make myself a few sweaters and accessories!

To learn to knit better and faster!

I'm so bad i don't have a new years resolution for knitting except to keep on knitting! More socks, more sweaters, more little fun projects to use up leftover sock yarn, whatever! Just love it!
Thanks Ve!

Mine is to knit more and crochet less this year!

I would like to knit only from stash this year; but, it's not gonna happen. Already succumbed to delicious yarn sales. So, instead, I'll just try to knit more.

Kari1276 said...

I'm going to finish or frog anything that's been on my needles for more than a year and get rid of anything in my stash that I'm never going to use!

I'm trying to reduce my stash this year. I have already listed a bunch for sale on Ravelry - http://www.ravelry.com/people/goodstuff/stash/trade and am hoping to use it up as well.

With a new baby in the house, my goal is just to do a bit of knitting every day, even if it is just one round of a sock.

windzgirl said...

My knitting goal this year is to spread the knitting love! I have enough socks to last forever so I'm going to start gifting more of my projects to friends/coworkers/family/etc.

jennybookworm said...

I'd like to finish a sweater for myself - I keep trying to and they end up frogged for one reason or another. I am also trying to knit from stash as much as possible since I also got the gift of a subscription to Year in Colour 2012(Tanis Fiber Arts)that will have new yarn arriving every couple of months!

Reikjavyk said...

My goal is to knit more for myslef. A lot of commissioned knitting last year...

My new years resolution is to finish my UFO's and check my yarn stash for projects prior to buying new yarn!

My New Years knitting resolution is to knit a pair of mittens, fingerless gloves and socks! I haven't done any of those yet since i'm still fairly new to knitting.

C Gibson said...

I am a relatively new knitter. This past year, I've felt like I've been getting on my knitting feet, so to speak. So for 2012, my resolutions are to complete my first sweater and hopefully a second. I'd also like to stash bust instead of purchasing more yarn. But come on, who am I kidding, it's too fun to buy new yarn!

Angie said...

My goal is to get a jump start on Christmas gifts this year and to branch out of my comfort zone project-wise.

Karen said...

I just started Knitting. So I guess I just want to finish something in the next year. :-)

Frankly Beka said...

My goal for 2012 is to stash bust. Specifically my pounds and pounds, miles and miles of baby yarn. About 75% of my stash is baby yarn I've inherited from friends/neighbors who didn't want to move their entire stash when they moved. I'm thinking hats for the local NICU.

Jessica F. said...

I would like to finish sweaters for my whole family this year. I have at least two cast on and just can't seem to make much progress. It will be the year of the sweater for me :-)

Janet said...

My goal is to knit 6 sweaters this year. I have so many in my Ravelry queue to choose from :)

Toadstool Knittery said...

My knitting resolution for 2012 is to do a lot more colourwork. I've been doing a little bit in 2011 but I'm not happy with how it looks. And I really want to improve my technique by knitting one colour English style and one colour Continental style. I haven't picked out a project yet but it's one of my top (knitting) priorities this year =)

Cheers,

Maike (FlauschiOhren @ Ravelry)

I have a couple of knitting related goals...

1) To knit more often than I did last year (especially in the first few months, during my last semester at school. In the last few months of 2011 I had to stop because I was so busy, but I missed the relaxation I find when knitting - I'm going to need that relaxation to get me through these next few months!)

2) To make a dent in my stash, if only a small one (so far this is going poorly as people have been donating yarn to me, having found it while cleaning closets!)

3) To attempt at least one "big" project (ie a shirt).
(this should also help me with goal #2 :P)

I want to knit a lot of new UFOs. Even if I try to finish the ton of UFO I have I will definitely buy more yarn and follow the dream of knitting more and more. Have a great 2012.

Oooh... a mystery prize. Well, that's always fun. I don't have a specific New Year's knitting resolution this year. I'd like to mostly knit from stash yarn, as I am anticipating my knitting to be reduced during the 2nd half of 2012 since we are expecting our 1st child June 21st. I have a few hats I would like to knit for friends, DH wants a warm pair of house socks, and I want to at least knit a blanket for the baby, so I think that will keep me busy! I hope you stick to your resolution, as I always enjoy seeing your beautiful photos of your knits. :-) (sjn821)

My goal is to keep my life more organized. I'm sort of that "organized mess" person. This often means that I lose things for a little bit. I want to put my apartment in order and keep it that way.
