Several posts ago I mentioned that I was not going to knit any Christmas gifts… well, I lied! When I saw the Abernathy Sweater by Terri Kruse pop up on Ravelry, I knew I HAD TO KNIT ONE. Unfortunately, I don't have any little boys running around my home, so I thought a worthy recipient would be my friend's one year old son.
I decided a superwash merino is just what this cute little sweater needed to be knit up in for a one year old. I went stash diving, but came up empty handed. Which is quite hard with the size of my stash, but obviously possible! I jumped online to one of my favorite indie dyers, Miss Babs, and found the most perfect skein of Yowza! - Whatta Skein in a dark navy, semi-solid blue called Into The Deep. The yarn arrived in just 3 days! No kidding!
I cast on for the sweet sweater right away. The thing just flew off my needles. One because it was a size 2T, but secondly because the pattern was so engaging. Terri has done a great job keeping the pattern easy to follow and exciting with its seamless construction and a variety of cables throughout. I goofed up a little bit on the collar when picking up my stitches (you can read more about it in my project notes), but in the end I'm totally head over heels for this little knit. I almost didn't give it away! I find children's knits that look like grown up clothing just so stinkin' cute! You be the judge…

I'm so glad I decided to knit a present for Christmas. The mom and grandma of the little boy who received the sweater actually cried. Now, that's a deserving recipient of knitted gifts.
Hugs and stitches!
