Andrea
Congratulations! Please contact me at yarnonthehouse@gmail.com to collect your prizes.
I can't believe we're already at giveaway #90! Summer has yet to arrive here in the PNW. I know there are some of you out there with record breaking highs, so if you get a moment, send a little our way please... I don't know about you, but I'm a wool girl all the way. I love knitting with natural fibers even in the summer heat. I usually just change up the type of things I knit rather than the fiber. I tend to lean towards wool blends and smaller gauge yarns. That means a lot of shawls, stoles, or light weight sweaters are worked on during these warmer months. I love knitting outside in the sun if it's not too hot, or under a tree in the shade during the heat with a nice glass of iced tea or another lovely drink to accompany me just listening to the sounds of all the little animals scurrying around on my property. Bliss I tell you!
All this leads me to introduce you to one of the cutest and most functional knitting projects bags I have ever had the pleasure of using recently, and totally summer knitting worthy! Meet Linsay's new knitting bags:
These babies are nothing short of fabulous!! They're approximately 7" square and stand up like a basket or bucket when open. Perfect for setting on the grass next to you when you're knitting outside. There's enough room for a couple of shawls or one light weight sweater - I tried it all out when I got mine! You can see the yoke of my Ravi KAL sweater plus a few skeins of yarn in my bag in the picture above. There is a neat ribbon strap closure at the top that cinches closed to protect your things while you are not knitting. See…
Now, I do want to mention that the corners of this bag are still exposed to the inside, so if you're wanting to toss smaller loose items (DPN's, stitch markers, etc.) in there along with your projects, I would recommend keeping the bag upright during transport as not to lose anything. Or, if you're anything like me, you have hundreds of little pouches laying around you could pop the things into and place at the bottom of the bag under your knitting to keep it in place. If you're still not sure, Linsay's created a second version of her bag called the Fiona with a full closure at the top:
At this time, this other version can be custom ordered for $32 + S/H. Just shoot her a Rav message or email: littlelippyewe@hotmail.com to order one. You can also follow Linsay's design work and shop updates on her Little Lippy Ewe Rav group!
Three lucky followers have the chance to win one of these awesome knitting project bags this giveaway. Take a look at all the fabulous fabrics! And, no you can't have my gray one above!!
In addition to the three bags Linsay is giving away, she has also generously provided a discount for the YOTH followers, just use coupon code "YOTH" through 7/15/12 (midnight EST) to receive 10% off your purchase!
I would like you to do the following if you would like to be entered into this week's giveaway:
1. Read over the rules if you have not done so already.
2. Leave a comment on this blog post by the end of Sunday, 7/15/12. What's your favorite summer knitting place? Do you like to knit outside in the sunshine? Or, do you hide your needles away during the heat until the leaves start falling again?
I'll randomly pick the winners in 2 weeks and post the results along with the new giveaway, so be sure to check back. Good luck everyone.
Sincerely,
Ve

My favourite summer knitting spot is under our peach tree on a picnic chair.
I knit year-round, and must admit to favoring one particular wingback chair in my living room. I also love to knit in the car (as a passenger); no more dreading long road trips!
I'm a couch knitter. When I'm outside, I'm usually at the park with the kids, so not a lot of knitting gets done.
I love to go outside and knit during the summer. The back yard is a perfect place to sit, knit, and enjoy the day.
I knit year round too, and I'm definitely a wool girl. I like to knit on my deck under the umbrella in the swivel deck chair (there are two for my deck set, and you can tell they get sat in more often than the other chairs that belong to the set!). And if I get around to it I have a covered gazebo with mosquito netting that's nice in the evenings. But only if I actually bring out the cover, which didn't happen last year!
I hate the heat - you can have ours - it's supposed to be about 100 tomorrow here in SE Wisconsin. I do knit all year, though, but try to knit in front of a fan or in air conditioning when it's hot - and smallish things - socks, light shawls, baby items, etc. By the way, love those little bags - pick me, please!
this is only my second summer of knitting, last year I hadnt been knitting very long but this year until now I have still been chuggin along still knitting my qeue not caring what the weather is!
I knit through the year and live in a warm climate so not much chance of knitting outside of the house. Love to put my feet up on the bed, watch a lil tv or maybe listen to some music and knit away:)
I love knitting by the water, be it the beach, a river, stream, lakeshore, etc. At least during the warmer months! Nothing like the soothing sound of water to go with the click of needles.
This is so great- I wanna win- the plastic bags are out of control!!
I love to knit in the Summer out on the porch:)((((Hugs)))Darcy/knottyknitter40
The (only) good thing on UK's summer is that I can knit everywere without the fear of te heat! My favorite place are parks, of course, during the sunshine, but still it is not hot enough for me!
In Greece, on the other and, I knit strictly under the air condition during summer!
craftink on raverly
On a sunny day I take my knitting out with me as I soak up the sun :)
But usually I'm a couch knitter ;)
I like knitting in the shade of my apple tree, as long as it's not too hot. I have sweaty hands.
I usually just knit inside in the AC as it is too hot to knit outside.
Penny
I'm not a big fan of the heat and summers in Philadelphia can be brutal, so I prefer to sit on my couch and knit in the A/C :)
I love to knit in the summer and my favourite spot is in front of a campfire! I usually stick with smaller projects like socks and shawls but this past weekend it was cotton discloths for each of the kids I was camping with - they loved getting to pick their own colours from my stash of cotton!
This summer, my favorite place to knit is anywhere air conditioned! The heat and humidity are so high that simply being outside makes me sweat. Normally, though, my front porch is a delightful place. A little shade, a little breeze, a cup of coffee in the morning - can't be beat!
It is definently outside on the deck or the beach. As long as its warm, I am out there!
Considering most days are 100 degrees and up in Texas during the summer (and end of spring and beginning of fall...) my favorite spot to knit is at one of my two knitting groups. Yay for air conditioning!
My big overstuffed red knitting and reading chair is where I habitat. Especially in the heat wave we've been having.
Those are fantastic bags! I like to knit everywhere I can during the summer. I see road trips as free knitting time!
Lately I've been sitting outside the front of the house. Close enough to the hummingbird feeder so that when they come in to feed, I can hear their wings! They sound like a giant bee.
not so much outside, but very close to the windows on my plantation chair with sunlight streaming in
St. Louis gets really hot in the summer, so I'm pretty much a couch knitter inside. Although if it's cool enough in the evenings I love sitting on the back deck as well!
As a native Texan, I spend all of my summer knitting deep in the a/c. I'm also a wool girl, and the thought of knitting outside in temperatures of 90 or above plus humidity makes me want to weep.
While I love to knit outside, it's just been too HOT here lately!! Over 100 for the next 4 days. I'll keep my yarn in the AC for now. When it's cool enough, I love to sit on my patio.
I am a river knitter. I love to be by the sound and the flow of the water while I knit. I need to do something that is easy to knit because I get so lost in the sounds of the lake.
In my RV by the river while Hubby fishes. I love the shape of the project bag. I make my own by knitting, then felting to get a 6 inch square. I put drawstrings and handles on them too.
I knit year round but mostly indoors - I always bring it along with high hopes but it just stays in the car.
Love Linsays new bags!
I'm in the same spot year round... my comfy recliner, kicked back and relaxing. Best spot ever to get some needle work done!
Wow, those bags not only are beautiful but look very handy! I hope I win. To answer your question, I knit on the couch or in bed in the summer -- and fall, winter, and spring!
My favorite place is right in front of the tv.
melodyj(at)gmail(dot)com
I do like to knit outside on the deck; however, it gets incredibly hot & humid here (all this week our highs will be in the upper 90s!) so I end up inside on the couch with my Netflix. :)
I am trying to get in the habit of sitting outside to knit, but I have to admit that I usually plunk down on the couch and knit in my living room.
i like to knit at my LYS, all strung out! there is air conditioning there, which means knitting with wool is as comfy as ever.
thanks for sharing! my email is supersharmie at gmail dot com
My favorite summer knitting spot is my parents' back porch. They've got a great porch swing where I can rock and soak up the great outdoors.
I love to knit at outdoor events like ballgames, bbqs, etc. This project bag looks like it would also be a great tool for my spindle and spinning fiber!
I wish I could knit outside, but it is too hot in Texas. I still knit in the evenings, in the nice A/C house, and stick to smaller projects.
On a cool summer evening I like knittin on my back porch in my rocking chair. Nice cool breeze, chickens clucking in the background, and a nice glass of ice tea!:)
I knit year-round,wherever I am. With temperatures in the 100's I have been knitting by the ac. Too hot to do anything else.
I knit year round although I slow down a bit in the summer. I love to knit at the beach! Its so peaceful!
i love knitting in the summer..in my backyard on the grass while the sun is shining :)
I knit the same place in winter and summer. On the couch! LOL Sometimes I will knit in the car on longer rides.
My fave place to knit is in my craft room. I knit year round but not outside since I must avoid the sun.
hotknitter
I knit all year. I try to use cotton more often but I long for autumn to come all summer!
I knit wherever I happen to be.
I tend to bring my knitting on all my outings during the summer- to the pool, when going for a bike ride, the baseball game...Right now we've got lots of rain here in Vancouver, BC, but when the sun comes out, I'll knit anywhere!
I love knitting outside on my deck with a nice summer breeze while watching the kids play. Realistically, though, that rarely happens and I'm usually stuck knitting late at night on the couch after the kids are in bed.
My favorite summer knitting spot doesn't exist yet, but I will one day have some furniture in my back yard. It's nice and shaded, so it isn't too hot.
My favorite summer knitting spot is on the couch! I wish it was outside, but we have too many mosquitoes.
My favorite place to knit in the summer is anywhere there is air conditioning. We're having 100 degree temps here in Alabama.
My favorite summer knitting place is at a picnic table next to one of the shadiest playgrounds in town. That way, my daughters can keep themselves amused while I get some progress done on my knitting! Those bags look fabulous, it would be the perfect thing to bring with me to the park!
I like to knit on bed with my cat beside me:)
andri_chama(at)yahoo(dot)com
Oh I love Linsay's bag! She's so very talented. :) I especially love the red and cream bag. :)
I like to be outside on a porch, in the shade, with a nice breeze, but we're currently in the middle of great, humid Iowa heat so I'd have to vote for inside with air conditioning! :)
I love to knit all curled up on the couch (in the a/c), watching my daughter play or listening to whatever my husband is watching on tv. I'd love to knit outside, but this year it is too stinkin' hot!!
Ugh. Summer knitting in the Midwest has to be indoors (and air conditioned). I knit all summer long but if it's too sticky, the yarn won't slide through your fingers!
I like knitting outside but not in direct sun, we have melanoma in my family. But no worries for me on that score at the moment as it is winter here where I am.
I like to knit inside under the air conditioning on the love seat in my den. 100 to 107 degrees outside is just too hot to do anything. I knit all year mostly on shawls or dishcloths.
My favorite is to knit outside. In the summer, the best is knitting and people-watching in Central Park.
Inside a cool Starbucks, the reason is simple...Good Iced tea and where else would you like to hang out in 100+ degree weather?
I love to knit outside by the pool, but when the temps creep up, the project size goes down...or I move inside ;)
Rav id - txtaurus
My favorite summer knitting place is plopped in front of the TV while the a/c is humming away. Sometimes, you just need a lazy day!
Favorite place to knit is in my knitting chair in the corner of the family room during the evenings. But only if the A/C is running. And only if I'm knitting something light-weight.
My favorite place to knit is anywhere I am. I'd love to be able to sit on the porch and spin or knit more there, but it's so often raining here that that isn't the best location.
Mu fav summer knitting spot is on my bed! The sun pours in the window but I'm under the A/C! (it's too hot to knit outside in the summer in NC!)

I love to knit all year round. Thank goodness for airconditioning.
My favourite knitting spot is the same year-round, but I especially love it in the summer. From early May until the beginning of August I can knit in my comfy chair by the window in the glorious Yellowknife sunshine without turning on a light until nearly midnight! :->
Thanks so much for the generous and lovely giveaway- beautiful bags!
I've wanted one of Linsay's bags for so long! They add a touch of class that an ordinary project bag just doesn't.
My favorite place to knit in the summer is on my dad's back porch. It looks out over the mountains, it's usually cooler than anywhere else, and I've always got a glass of sweet tea beside me. Can't beat that.
honestly?! my favorite place to knit is in the quiet of my air conditioned house! i live in the south and the days have been in the triple digits with about 60% humidity!
the river if outside, inside my comfy recliner!
I knit year round and love getting up before everyone else and knitting or spinning with the sunrise. My next house will have a big porch and lots of shade so I can go outside and knit!
I'm a year round knitter - my summer place has to be my deck - it is nice and cool there in the afternoon...
Whoo! What an exciting giveaway - I love Linsay's bags.
I like to knit all year long, but I think my favorite place in the summer is at a local, air conditioned coffee shop!
I knit where ever I am sitting all year long, I even knit at the doggie ark, and red lights
Fracksmom
Whether it's summer or winter, I enjoy knitting indoors. I usually sit back and relax in a comfy chair in my room while watching a movie or TV :)
I'm a year round knitter. Spend most of the time in "my chair" knitting; but also love to knit in the car, at the park, at my LYS,..
I would love to sit under a tree in a cool breeze but with this heat I am in front of a fan on the couch doing mindless knitting or/and frogging a lot as I knit small things that I promise someday I will finish (when it gets cool and I can think again) These bags look gorgeous and inspiring.
I love to knit and spin out on my covered porch. I have to be sure the kittens don't get into things however. I knit wool all year long like you but also change the size of things I knit. I can spin any thing as its not a lot of fiber on my lap (wool is wool :)...Colorado is hot and wildfire central this summer. Have to stay cool.
I love knitting anytime and anywhere I can!
I can knit anywhere, but when it gets warm, I enjoy sitting under the shade of the fruit trees in my backyard.
These bags look amazing!
I love to knit on the porch in the summer.
I love these bags!
I carry my knitting in my purse with me all the time so I work on my WIPs whenever and wherever I feel like knitting.
I will knit in up to 85 degree weather, or if I am in air-conditioning! Humidity definitely makes my tension weird, so I force myself to go through knitting withdrawal!
If there is a nice breeze, I like knitting outside on the deck, under some nice trees and the table umbrella. :)
Just because it's summer time doesn't mean I quit knitting with wool. I knit all summer long! I knit in my bedroom mostly because it has a great view of my backyard and the TV.
13The place I get the most knitting done is on the bus to and from work, but my favorite place would be out on the porch of a lakehouse. If only I had one to go to!
I seek air conditioned places to knit in the summer time! As soon as my hands are damp with sweat the yarn won't slide and knitting becomes impossible no matter what fiber I've got. But I do still knit big warm projects in the summer while I'm in that AC!
I end up knitting most evenings on the couch--but, I really look forward to the brief interlude where the patio has shade and the mosquitos aren't out. :) Then, I can sit on the patio with a nice glass of wine and that's superb.
In Alaska especially where I live you can knit outside most comofortably except for the rain. Mostly my favorite time to knit is early in the morning when the birds as singing, my first cup of coffee and my knitting. Bliss.
My favorite place to knit in the summer is on the couch! I don't watch much TV, but I still get some knitting done. I can't wait for the Olympics, then I'll have an excuse to sit and knit for hours on end. :-)
I like to sit on the porch in the early evening and wait for the sun set and then it starts to get to dark to see so I just enjoy the rest of the evening on my glider.
I continue to knit in the summer, and even with wool. I love to sit on our sofa in the air conditioning and pretend it's winter!
I don't stop knitting in the summer--I even knit more if that's possible. My favorite summer spot is outside on my patio which I plan to reclaim this week, as soon as the painters are done painting the house! Between the maple tree and the umbrella, it's always shady, even in the worst heat. My knitting, a tall glass of iced coffee and NPR on the radio, what could be better?
I love to knit in my back yard, under a shade umbrella to keep cool. It's lovely and peaceful with the birds chirping, etc.
(goodstuff on Rav)
I'd love to win!
Our summers are quite foggy and chilly so I knit wool all year round but maybe just smaller things like socks during the summer. And always on the couch.
my favorite summer knitting place is on a patio or deck in the shade. I love being outdoors and feeling the breeze and smelling the outdoor air :) In the shade it's not too hot.
Well, it's only just gotten warm here, so the knitting hasn't stopped and probably won't! This summer's projects are portable, so they can be knit in the car, at a campsite, or at the park.
I don't like when summer too hot, I prefer knitting in room with air conditioning
I love to knit outside in the shade.
On hikes! We've got lots of huts here, but you'll never find me on an overnight hike or out camping without my knitting.
We have a beautiful screened in porch that is a wonderful place to knit in the evening. It has ceiling fans, a small fountain and a cd player when I want music over nature. The sun sets over the fields next door. Come on over!
It is hot as balls in the summer in DC, so my favorite spot to knit is in my LYS. There's a great window with natural light. Put away needles until fall? For shame! Just switch to lighter knitting projects.
Outside in the shade, definitely. And since I have a Fiona of my own (9 years old), I love the name of that bag. :) -- Anya
This month my favourite knitting place is watching the Tour de France, but a nice shady spot at the park watching the kids play works well too.
I knit all the time! My favorite Summer knitting space is on my deck in the shade....(though the last week it's been to hot to knit out there!)
Summer is a busy time for me (I'm a plant breeding grad student, so it's field work season)...so mostly I've only been knitting on the bus to and from campus. It's air conditioned though which is great!
I love to knit all the time, even in the summer. My favorite place in the summer is in the shady part of my yard near my hummingbird garden.
I knit year round and sometimes in the summer I knit on my screened in porch. However...this summer I am very thankful for air conditioning and stay inside on the couch and knit! Too, too hot out on the porch!! :-(
Indoors because it is just too hot outside, usually sitting on the couch or at the kitchen table.
Sydney
My favorite summer time place is in my room, in the rocking chair while listening to an audiobook!
In a tranquil garden - used to be Japanese Garden in Portland; and now, it's my own, or Butchart Gardens in Victoria.
I love knitting all year around. With the heat here lately, I knit indoors, often in my lazy boy chair in fornt of the tv. However, as the days are longer, I can knit more in the car as we travel. Hehehe...
I always take some knitting with me wherever I go,...shopping, out to dinner, church, and to work. I can't be without it when I have to stand in line or need a knitting fix. ^_^
Knitting never stops. Ever. ;)
My favorite knitting spot is my couch, watching endless reruns of criminal minds or law and order.. I've seen them so many times they're more background noise, allowing me to concentrate on whatever lace project I'm working on. Lace, because Florida is too hot year round for most anything else.
It doesn't get all that hot where I live, so if it's a nice and sunny day I love to knit outside on the porch.
-Ravnejenta on Ravelry
I love knitting at my favorite coffee shop, Cafe Gelatto! They have big, squishy red chairs and lots of A/C--perfect for snuggling up and knitting all afternoon. I couldn't possibly stop knitting in summer, so I just pick smaller & more lightweight projects!
LOVE those beautiful bags! What a great giveaway!
Hi Ve, what beautiful finds!
I like to knit when it's warm, but if it gets too hot I hide either in the shade or in a cool house/apartment.
Enjoy the summer we're finally having!
Pavla
In the car, on one of our many road trips!
I love to knit in the summer. Having wool on my lap doesn't bother me at all. However, I always knit in air conditioned comfort. My favorite places to knit are my living room sofa and the car (passenger seat, of course!)
I´m big and pregnant at the moment so the loveseat under the AC vent is where I do my knitting these summer days.
You can contact me as OlofDrofn on Ravelry and my blog is www.knittingwitholof.com
Good luck to all!
I've been knitting sweaters inside in the A/C this summer. Hoping to start on my Ravi once I finish up my current project.
explodingpinecone on Rav.
In the summer I like to bring my knitting to school and knit between my sections of teaching, while my students are in lecture with the professor of our course. It's two hours' super-chilly air-conditioned free time and keeps me entertained while I wait!
My favorite summer spot for knitting is at the park
I knit everywhere. I tend to knit the most while riding in a passenger seat or curled up in bed, but also love sitting outside in a chair directly in the sun soaking up the rays.
Here in Virginia it has been HOT, so I like to knit on the sofa in my sunroom with AC blowing right on me! I love the little project bags.....the green one is my favorite!
I knit all year, summertime under the shade at a nearby park or my chair watching Netflix if it's too hot.
I'll knit pretty much anywhere year round but I do love to sit outside at the lake at our local college in the spring and fall.
I adore the square bottomed bags - lovely design. My favourite place to knit in the summer is outside in the park sitting on a bamboo mat under a huge oak tree - great for mid day when the sun is searing hot as the leaves of the trees allow for bright light but no sunburn. My nephew, when aged 9 years old, came up with the idea of knitting outside in the part - brilliant!
I love ti sit on my back deck to knit!
I'm a year-round knitter, too. There's too much to knit to take a break in the summer! My favorite place to knit is on the screened porch at the beach house, with a view of the ocean and the noise of the waves. It makes an already relaxing hobby that much more relaxing.
in a well air-conditioned coffee shop!
Year-round knitter. Our local knit group is getting together in Pioneer Park, my favourite summer knitting spot. It's a cosy little park, a gem of a location...where the Saugeen River empties into Lake Huron. Most always a refreshing breeze off the water, no matter how muggy the day. Plenty of shade trees...and a beach!

I don't knit outside, because of the problem of sweaty hands. I like to stay by the air conditioner for summer knitting!
I usually knit in the same places in summer as winter, but I have this fanatasy of knitting in the cemetery...we have a fantastic one in our town, with big shady trees and benches and it is the one park in town that is quiet. Some day I will grab my needles and yarn and go haunt it.
I am a year round knitter both inside and out. My favorite place to knit is on my deck under an umbrella.
Those bags are so cute!
I'm in love with these bags! My favorite summer knitting place is inside a coffee shop with a/c. My knit night meets there weekly!
My favorite part of summer is the early mornings when you know it is going to be hot later--love to grab a cup of coffee and knit on the deck before family wakes up!
Love the bucket shape of the bags, what a clever design to be like a basket while you work. Would be great for spinning too, much nicer than the big basket I usually use to hold roving.

I knit on my front porch, in the car, at a coffee shop with friends, but my favorite place to knit is in my big old comfy chair (with my feet up!). I carry a project wherever I go. Thank you for the inspiration and giveaway.
I love knitting all year around. I do not sit outdoors a lot unless I'm at the park with the children. I love it when I knit outdoors, or in the vehicle while traveling, the sunlight helps me see my project better!
Love knitting on the deck, in the shade, in the morning with my coffee. I sometimes have to rescue my yarn from critters looking for nesting materials but overall it's pure heaven.
I like to knit inside when it's super hot, but always prefer to be outside in the summer to knit... either in my lovely backyard, watching my daughter at the park or beach, and while camping. I am lucky to live in the mountains near lovely lakes! Thanks for the chance to win one of these gorgeous bags!!! Stephanie (indigodogmt on Rav)
I like to knit on the deck in the evening . It can be toasty !
I have a porch swing on my back deck that gets a perfect breeze. I don't get to enjoy it nearly enough though.
