sweet baby knits!

Do you remember my friend Alison? That was her pregnant with her first baby (a boy) back in 2010. Now the same sweet friend of mine is due to have her second (a girl!) at the end of this month. Alison is the one friend that I do knit for, because I feel that she understands and appreciates the stitches and love that go into hand knits. I don't get to knit for her very often, but how could I say no to tiny little girl knits?! They are just the best, in my opinion.

I chose two very beautiful patterns that I know will get a lot of use: a hat called The Baby Poppy Cloche' & a shrug named (Petit) Artichaut. Both of these patterns won my heart over! They knit up so quickly (that could have something to do with being infant sized), but they also were just cute enough to squish and squeal at the sight of them! I wish I had a model for these little hand knits...

I have a thing for knitting in different colors for babies than their "specified gender shade". I think expecting parents receive enough pink and blue to make them want to throw up. So, for this adorable little baby cloche I decided on a rich heathered olive green. The bright turquoise blue ceramic buttons give it just the right amount of pop!

This pattern was super fast and I mean fast like a couple of hours fast! It's a beautiful and simple design that make little babies look so chic! I can't wait to see my friend's baby girl wear this cloche, and because of the garter brim I think it will stretch and fit for many months. Always a plus with growing babies!

The very talented Heidi May has a gorgeous variety of patterns for babies and children. She also has some really cute crochet patterns for you hookers out there!

I can't say enough good things about this sweet shrug/short cardi… the delicate details of the slipped stitches along the garter cap sleeves and trim, the perfect upwards slope of the side flap, the multiple options for knitting either flat or in the round and either a bow or button closure… it's all in all a great pattern! I would knit this darling little baby girl sweater again in a heartbeat. There was a lot of oooohhh and ahhhhhh at the baby shower over this one!

This pattern comes in both French and English. There is also a larger version of this sweater for 2-10 year olds called Artichaut. I'm in love with Korrigan as well, which is by the same designer.

Have a wonderful Sunday evening and I'll see you soon. Hopefully with more finished project pics to share!!

We have a new grandbaby, gender unknown, due in a few weeks. While gender neutral baby knits are fun, I can't wait to knit some specific clothes!

Love the short cardi! that stitch detail on the front really makes it - and the buttons on the cap are *perfect*!
