mimic

I have a freebie pattern to share with you today! I'm so thrilled about how this turned out. I had this design in my head for a very long time and I knew I wanted it to be simple, yet interesting in its construction. I believe that I have succeeded.

This easy pullover can be worn vest-like (as shown in the pics) or as a shorter sleeved drop shoulder sweater without an undershirt. I like both, but the day we were shooting was a chilly one! And, ladies and gents, there are no short rows. The sweater gauge, drape and unique construction is built to create the beautiful curved longer back hem line naturally.

I love everything about this garment... the linear vertical lines of the ribbing pattern are slimming, the boxy shape of the sweater hides a multitude of sins, the color is our Sea Salt (a fav), the project uses Big Sister the DK weight (nuf said), and it's knit on 9's, my friends, it not only flies, it falls off your needles.

Pattern: mimic
Designer: me
Yarn: YOTH Yarns Big Sister
Colorway: Sea Salt
Modeled by: Jasmine, my sweet and photogenic daughter

There's a cute story behind the name too. I used a knit one below "brioche" method to knit the ribbing pattern. Now, I'm not sure whether this pattern is a true brioche or not, and I kept calling it "fake brioche" around the Tolt shop and my knitting friends, who could not confirm whether this stitch is or is not a brioche stitch. Well, I didn't want to call the pattern 'fake', so mimic it is!

I hope you enjoy the freebie. It's available for free download on Ravelry. The yarn can be found in our shop.

Hugs & stitches!
