first FREE YARN giveaway

I have decided that a good place to start is with Ravelry's top #1 used yarn. Drum roll please... Cascade Yarns 220 Wool! I will be giving away 4 skeins of Cascade 220. Ravelry has this yarn posted as of today's date and time as having 45,750 projects made/started out of this yarn. That's a lot of Cascade 220! Take a look at all the pretty colors! In honor of this yarn being in the #1 position for most projects on Ravelry, I think it's a perfect candidate for my first giveaway. In order to be entered into this giveaway, please comment on this post (by this Saturday, 2/6/10) letting me know what YOU love about Cascade 220, or if you haven't had the opportunity to knit with this yarn, just say Hi!

In the next few days I will be posting a picture of the color I have picked out for you. Then over the weekend I will randomly choose a winner using the True Random Number Generator at www.random.org, and announce the winner of this giveaway next Monday when I announce next week's FREE YARN. Good luck everyone and I hope that you enjoy my first gift to you!

Sincerely,

Ve

I love the Cascade 220 Hand Paints particularly because they pattern up so beautifully. I like the whole line of it though because it's a great go-to yarn that knits reliably and comes in great colors. Who wouldn't love that?

I love the look of your blog! Reminds me of Mary Quant dresses and white go-go boots. Should be fun.

I am so excited for this! I made my first sweater ever using cascade 220 heathers. It was so easy and simple to work with for a newbie. And it the way it blocked helped my uneven stitches and made the sweater bloom. You can see it here:

http://www.ravelry.com/projects/StitchMimi/boatneck-bluebell-sweater

The yarn has held up wonderfully!

I just used Cascade 200 for the firswt ime last week. I love how it had a nice sheen and wasn't "splitty" at all. It's a great yarn at a great price!

Not had the chance to use any Cascade yet but I have admired it on my recent trips to the US. Lovely stuff and fab. colour range.

I really love Cascade 200 Wool. It so smooth feeling and the colors really pop out at you. I only have one skein and i have used it for only two projects. A sweater for chihuahua:
http://www.ravelry.com/projects/jadedstar/dog-sweater-for-small-dog and an amigurumi apple. but it's just a beautiful yarn.

Over the years I have used at least 100 skeins of 220. Never. Not even once have I ever had a knot show up, a flaw in spinning, an unevenly dyed section, nothing but perfect yarn. In so many lucious colors. It makes a great sweater, felts like a dream and is very affordable. What is not to love. Well, maybe the fact that moths love it a bit too well and I am not great at getting my items stored well over the summer!!

XENA_BOB said...

I love all the colors! And the feel of it. I thought I wouldn't like wool, then I used 220 for a sweater. I just want to pet it, it feels so nice.

Free Yarn! Free Yarn! I love free yarn, she says dancing up and down. And Cascade - though I haven't actually knitted with it, I have squeezed it. Does that count? So put me in the hopper - I'm (way) over 18, live in the US and don't even drink Martini's so no need to card me!

Sara said...

I really enjoy working with Cascade 220 - it knits up beautifully. As a matter of fact - when I was learning to knit socks - I used Cascade 220 - my teacher wanted us to be able to work with a yarn that wasn't so tiny as fingering...and those socks are still being worn.

Hello Ve!

Your daughter is doing a great job presenting the yarn! :-) So kind of her to volunteer!

I love Cascase 220 and actually just about all Cascade yarns! I haven't knit anything larger than a hat, scarf and socks (superwash) with it yet, but I'm creeping up on trying a sweater later in the year, so I'm excited! I love the term "workhorse" yarn for it because it really takes a beating...say if you have to frog alot and it washes and wears really well! We don't even have to discuss the great price point...

Anyway, thanks for doing the contest! I hope you don't mind if I follow your blog.

Take care,

What a fun idea! I have definitely contributed to the 45,750 projects listed on Ravelry. The reason I have used so much Cascade yarn and in particular Cascade 220, is 5 main reasons:
1. The price is extremely reasonable for the yardage
2. The variety of gorgeous shade in both solids and in heathers
3. The vivid texture it creates, as patterns and cabling come out beautiful with this yarn
4. It is easy to find and available at all the LYS I like to support
5. It is wonderful to knit with, feel great against the skin, has great washability, and wears wonderfully!

Cascade 220 is hands down one of my favorite yarns!
