I am excited to announce that this week I am featuring a brand new addition to my blog, it's the premier of the first ever Yarn On The House podcast!! I've decided to give podcasting a try and what better time to start than now when I want to tell you all about my recent goodies that I purchased during my trip to all 25 stores on the LYS Tour. This week it's all about me and a fabulous giveaway! Take a listen...

If you cannot see the player click here.

Starting in top left-hand corner (moving from left to right on each row), here are Ravelry links to all the yarns:

Misti Alpaca's Tonos Pima Silk, Manos del Uruguay's Rittenhouse Merino 5-ply, red buttons that I do not have a link for, Cascade Yarn's Greenland, Be Sweet's Bambino Taffy, Cherry Tree Hill's Supersock Solids, Art Yarn's Mohair Splash, Blue Heron's Rayon Metallic, Cascade Yarn's Fixation Solids, Trendsetter Yarn's Cha Cha, Raven Frog Fiber Art's Marvelous Merino, Clover triangle stitch markers which I'm not going to link to, Cascade Yarn's Heritage Solid, Louisa Harding's Grace Hand-dyed, Frida buttons (no link), FLY Design's Pashmara (I could not find the correct link for this yarn on Ravelry), Habu Textile's Silk Stainless Steel, Malabrigo's Lace

Links and such from the podcast:

- The NEW rules!

- LYS Tour

- Linsay

- Clapotis pattern

- Another knitter's Clapotis made out of Blue Heron Rayon Metallic.

- Fresh Picked Baby Hat

- Frida Kahlo

- Kushu Kushu Scarf

- The Malabrigo Lace one skein project.

I wanted to mention that in the podcast when I discussed the Art Yarn's Mohair Splash I said that the yarn had merino in it. I lied! I meant to say mohair, but I'm sure you probably knew that. Also, I attempted to find some of the one skein projects on Ravelry to link to, but was only able to find the last one mentioned above (Malabrigo Lace project). Hope you all enjoyed my goofy self talking about all the great yarn I acquired during the LYS Tour!

One lucky follower has the chance to choose the yarn or buttons out of a "box" from the picture above. I would like you to do the following if you would like to be entered into this week's giveaway:

1. Read over the NEW rules.

2. Leave a comment on this blog post by the end of Sunday, 6/6/10, telling us which "box" of yarn or buttons in the picture above you would like to win and why.

I'll randomly pick the winners on Sunday and post the results on Monday along with the new giveaway, so be sure to check back. Good luck everyone.

Sincerely,

Ve

My favorite is: Raven Frog Fiber Art's Marvelous Merino. The color just speaks to me.

I can't wait to listen to your podcast!

Sophia said...

The louisa harding looks so pretty! I love that color. I loved hearing your voice.

Samantha said...

I would totally go for the Habu Textiles Stainless Steel and make the Kusha Kusha scarf. I lurk on the Habu Ravelry group and have been wanting to try one of their yarns for a long time. The Louisa Harding's Grace Hand-dyed also looks quite lovely and drew my eye as it's a color I don't usually go for and winning it would be an opportunity to branch out. Perhaps for a cowl or fingerless mitts.

Jessica said...

I would LOVE the Malabrigo Lace in the gorgeous orangey colorway! I want this yarn to grow up to become a Citron for me!!

Carrie said...

I would LOVE the Fly Designs Pashmina. That blue is fabulous! I am excited to try the podcast.

I think I'd choose that Cascade Heritage hiding in the middle there that's absolutely gorgeous. I can't wait to listen to the podcast!

Great podcast and box choices.
My first pick would be the Habu stainless steel yarn; I want to make a Kusha Kusha scarf for sure one day, but have yet to get the yarn and pattern. I love the colors too. Yellow green is my favorite!

You mean I can only pick one from that awesome box?!?! I can't decide between the Cha-Cha and the FLYs Pashmara. The Cha-Cha because I saw a tutorial using it to make a scarf and have wanted some since then. the Pashmara because that color is to dye for ;)

Marie-Andrée said...

Wow! what a choice! I would like the Art Yarn's mohair splash. It's look so pretty.

Becky said...

I really like the Louisa Harding. I would be interested in seeing which stores you got your yarn and pattern as a local person who attempted a few shops. Great new format!

Unknown said...

I'd have to pick the raven frog merino box! I'm a sucker for pretty colors... and I want to experiment with some colorchanging yarns for pooling scarves!

Rae Lynne said...

I love that Blue Heron's Rayon Metallic, FLY designs Pashmara, or Misti Alpacas Tonos Pima Silk. They're all so lovely!

And then there's buttons....but I spose I have enough buttons at the moment....

Lisa said...

I LOVE the Grace Hand-dyed - it's absolutely gorgeous!

JodyH said...

I really love the Misti Alpaca Tonos Pima Silk -- that's the most beautiful blue color! I'm sure anything I make with that will be gorgeous!

SusanG said...

I would choose the misti alpacas silk- as I've never knitted with silk and would love to give it a try. I also find the Habu Textiles stainless steel silk intriguing - but not sure my skills are up to knitting with something like this. As usual all of the choices are pretty wonderful and would be truly happy with any of them! Thanks.

Diana said...

I am in love with Misti Alpaca and would love to try the pima silk, the color is amazing!

StephCat said...

I think the Raven Frog, because it's not something I can get locally.

I just love the red of the Louisa Harding Grace hand dyed yarn. If I was lucky enough to win this I would use this yarn to knit a scarf for the Red Scarf Project on Ravelry.

Jodi said...

Congrats on the new medium, and I love rule #2 of the house rules! The Manos merino is intriguing -- I'd love to see how a softer Manos yarn knits up!

I would adore having the Louisa Harding's Grace Hand-dyed and this time, make something for myself.

ACraftyKnitter said...

It's a difficult choice, because I would love to have most of the yarns in that picture, but I would go for the Raven Frog Fiber Art's Marvelous Merino. I'd love to try a new yarn, and it's so pretty!

W.G. Woolens said...

The Cherry Tree Hill's Supersock reminds me of the dream I had where all the clothes in my closet were yellow! And I love to knit socks.

Krystal said...

It sounds like it would have been so fun to do the tour! All your goodies look so nice, but the one that really stands out to me is the Louisa Harding's Grace hand-dyed. That color is just so striking.

Laura said...

Tough decision! But I think I'd go with the malabrigo lace. Orange is my color :)

Unknown said...

Gosh I hate choosing just one from that amazing collection. But if I have to then I would like the Manos Merino yarn.

Rebekah said...

Wow - hard choice! I think I'm going to say Louisa Harding's Grace Hand-dyed, though, because it looks so luscious and I've never tried that yarn before.

Allison von Berg said...

Oh Frida Kahlo buttons!!? I have been obsessed with her painting and her life since I saw some of her work at the Guggenheim in college. No matter how bad she felt (she had debilitating back problems from a trolley car accident in her 20's)she kept creating as a therapy. Her paintings are like seeing a woman's inner feeling on canvas!
I'd take those buttons and make them the clasps for a colorful red rose colored shawl evocative of her paintings!

Joyce said...

Oh....the Habu please. I've been wanting to try some of their yarn.

Sarah Beth said...

I really like the raven frog yarn. So pretty! I'd definately make something special for me. Thank you for continuing this wonderful blog.

Sursi said...

I would have to say the Grace, though I would love to work with the Habu sometime as well. This is a hard choice! They are both gorgeous.

Tanya said...

Oh wow! I love so many of the things you've included in the box, but I'd love to try the Misti Alpaca's Tonos Pima Silk. The color is so rich and amazing! I've been thinking of making a shawl/wrap thingy out of that color.

knitterlydesigns said...

I would love to try Misti Alpaca's Tonos Pima Silk. I finished a shawlette in Pima Cotton and think it would be even more fabulous in a Pima and Silk combo. Plus, blue is my favorite color!

Taleah said...

That hand-dyed Grace is BEAUTIFUL! What a perfect kick of color for a winter scarf/shawl!

I would definitely pick the Cascade Heritage solid! The color is beautiful, and I just became addicted to knitting with finer-gauge yarns, and so need to balance out my mostly worsted weight stash with some new yumminess for future projects! However, it is still a tough choice--they're all so beautiful! Looks like you had a good shopping trip. :)

Cary said...

I love Louisa Harding's Grace Hand-dyed yarn. The color is so vibrant. I have been dark color funk and think this would be just the thing to bring me back to the world of color!

Sarah V. (Barf Green Is Best) said...

Woooow, this is such a hard choice!

I'm a big Be Sweet fan, and the colours in that ball of Bambino Taffy look right up my alley, so either that OR the amazing pink Louisa Harding Hand Dyed -- the pink, because I recently attended a dye workshop and meant to dye some pink yarn, but ended up with orange by mistake! Oops. Thanks for hosting, as always! (SarahVV on rav)

I can't decide which I would love to win more, the malabrigo lace or the Habu. mal lace is one of my favorites, and I have been planning another one-skein shawlette. and that autumny orange is one of my favorite colors. but I love the Habu too, and I think they'd make an awesome shawlette.

thanks for this giveaway!

I really love the silk stainless from Habu Textiles. I'm a metallurgist when I'm not knitting, and so being able to join the two parts of my life would be awesome! The yarn that caught my eye is the Misty Alpaca Tonos Pima Silk. First it was the blue color, next because it was cotton and silk, and lastly you mentioned in the podcast that it was a DK weight. I'm torn between using it for myself or knitting something as a gift!

MEBacons said...

Oh my! Blue Heron's Rayon Metallic is absolutely amazing! It speaks fun & funky to me and my eye was drawn to it immediately.

The bright blue 2nd from the left on the bottom row...i can't tell what kind of yarn that is but love the color! this was a hard one!

Vic-Jo-Rob said...

My choice? Habu Textiles Silk Stainless. Why? The idea of silk and stainless intrigues me so much so that I want to see how it will work up, perhaps in a shawl or cabled headband. But more importantly (and probably quite silly), I want to see whether the finished project will set off metal detectors at the airport.
