Hi, folks! Hope everyone is doing well. I've been enjoying reading and logging all the fun questions that you left me last giveaway in your comments. There's quite a few of them to answer, so I've decided that over the course of the next few weeks I'll be doing some blog posts to answer all of your questions. This should be fun! And, thank you for all of your sweet comments.

Well, well... this week I have a luxurious giveaway for you! Our wonderful sponsor and guest is Sabrina of Anzula Luxury Fibers. I had fun interviewing her a few weeks back. Check out our chat together (I apologize for the sound feedback; unfortunately, our connection wasn't perfect):

Links and such from the videos:

- Anzula Luxury Fibers

- Purchase Anzula at Purl Soho & Sandra Singh

- TNNA trade shows

- Look at all the lovely colors and yarns on Ravelry!

- Mermaid, Sebastian, & Oasis

- Sabrina on Rav

- Cricket

Thank you, Sabrina, for visiting us and come back anytime!

Anzula's beautiful yarns and fibers can be found online at Purl Soho & Sandra Singh. Sabrina is so talented at dyeing up gorgeous semi solids! I would love to knit myself a sweater out of her For Better or Worsted in the Charcoal colorway, and knit up a lace shawl or stole out of the Wash My Lace in maybe the Toffee color. Honestly, any of the Anzula yarns and fibers would rock my world!

Sabrina is sponsoring THREE ridiculously wonderful prizes for three lucky followers to have a chance to win:

Grand Prize winner will receive 5 skeins of Cricket MCN (that stands for Merino, Cashmere, Nylon for those of you who don't know) in the lovely color Prince! Each skein boasts 250 yards and I got to thinking, hmmmmm... a 1,000 yards of sport weight yarn. That's enough for a Goodale sweater in almost all the sizes available! I quickly contacted Cecily, the uber-talented designer, and twisted her arm to toss in a PDF copy of her pattern for the grand prize winner. Wink, wink! I really want to knit this neat cardi myself in the very near future. I absolutely adore the genius construction of the pockets and I think it would be a super addition to my spring and summer wardrobe.

FIVE skeins of Cricket in Prince

How awesome would a Goodale sweater be outta this yarn?!

Also, TWO runners up will receive one of the below luxury skeins of fingering weight yarn:

Squishy in Candied Apple

Sebastian Seacell/Merino in Charcoal

I would like you to do the following if you would like to be entered into this week's giveaway:

1. Read over the rules if you have not done so already.

2. Leave a comment on this blog post by the end of Sunday, 3/13/11. What's your favorite spring time color to knit with? Or, do you knit in the same color(s) all year long?

I tend to lighten or brighten my knitting color palette when the weather starts warming up. For me it's the smell and sight of flowers that inspires me to buy cheerful colors to knit with. Actually, some of my favorite colors are muted pastels and I just love knitting them when spring's around the corner!

I'll randomly pick the winners in 2 weeks and post the results along with the new giveaway, so be sure to check back. Good luck everyone.

Sincerely,

Ve

Any bright color is perfect for spring knitting. Currently I'm thinking about something green :)

Allison said...

Delicate pink. Spring is the only season I can stand it, for some reason...

Anonymous said...

For me, it seems to be the other way around! I noticed that my colour palette had gotten much brighter in the winter - I think it was a subconscious attempt to fight the grey and the gloom...

Anonymous said...

I'm thinking a bright, cheerful blue. The kind of blue I wish the sky was (which is an unobliging grey at present).

Unknown said...

Amazing giveaway this week!

I don't know that I change my color palette much between seasons - I love color all year 'round! Though I do have a nice lime green I'm planning to dig into soon. (Once my pink socks are done, and my emerald green socks... Hmm...)

Amanda said...

I definitely lighten up a touch when the weather gets warmer, though pastels aren't really my bag generally.

Anonymous said...

What an amazing giveaway! I really hope I win this one.

My favorite spring color is orange.

marianne said...

*swoon* so many pretties!

I knit with autumn colors year-round.

thanks for this giveaway!

Stephanie RJ said...

Stunning! I love grey all year round, but i'm feeling some cool blues and greens coming on, I think because summer is so hot in the desert that it needs cool shades to tone it down a bit.

Sarah V. (Barf Green Is Best) said...

I don't usually change my knitting colours with the seasons, but I do go through periods where I want to buy and use lots of a particular colour. Lately it's been warm, golden yellow and bright happy coral pinks - which are actually pretty springy!

Juliaknit said...

I have always stuck to my stand-by blue and green, but I just bought a sweaters worth of yellow so maybe I am changing.

Susie said...

I'm all about the green this spring!

Peach Rainbow said...

I am more onto crochet than knitting and I love pastels too :D
Thanks for the lovely giveaway!

Sue said...

This is my first Spring as a knitter, but I will be knitting and crocheting with some of the BRIGHT cotton I just bought for little gifts for my friends.

Avila said...

Spring draws me to yellowy-greens pale blues. We still have quite a bit of snow so I'm trying to get in the mood for grass and blue skies!

Lainey said...

I tend to just go with the colors that grab my attention as I go. I think it depends on my mood, if I'm feeling icky, blacks and dark blues grab me. I'm feeling happy, pink, purple, green, bright blues.. But I do feel happier as Spring approaches, so I guess it's happier colors! :)

Retrobaby said...

I tend to knit in more or less the same palette all year round - but a bright green is certainly a springtime favorite!

Barb T. said...

I am a creature of habit-the same colors all the time!

Rasa said...

I'm a fall palette kind of girl...greens really speak to me in the spring.

Tara said...

I tend to knit the brighter colors in winter to bring a little fun to the dreary days. Though I'm a pink girl so there's always something pink on the go!

Robin said...

Wow, I'd really like to win this one, that yarn is gorgeous!
Since I just finished a bright yellow sock, I'm going to say yellow.

Lydia said...

i always like to have something bright and eastery-pink, grass green, sunn yellow-always makes brings a smile.

Anu said...

I haven't been knitting for so long that I can change colours according to the season, but I truly love your concept! I can now vividly picture the myriad colours I'd love to associate my knitting in the seasons with.
Spring would be all shades of yellow and orange - these are the colours that spell joy and celebration and are very much associated with happy Spring colours in India
Winters would mean the peace and calm of the blues and the grays for me - they bring on a feeling of warm cozy comfort for the chilly winter nights :)

Lizzi said...

I think my colour choice is changing - I used to go for browns and neutrals but I seem to be more drawn to jewel colours these days - maybe cos my hair is getting greyer?

Twistedtexan said...

I just started working on a cardigan in a lush shade of green. Green means spring!

Leah said...

There's some yellow yarn in my stash calling to me for spring socks!

Julia said...

I'm not sure if it has to do with the seasons... but I do have color phases. At the moment I can't get enough of purples and magenta. The purple came after I think I knit green into the ground. We shall see what comes out of this purple phase.

Kamigaeru said...

Mostly I knit with the same colors year-round (gray, gray, and gray), but I do make an effort to knit with some brighter colors once spring rolls around. I have a lovely emerald green skein of laceweight that might just become a Laminaria!

Teri said...

I do change the colors I knit with for each season. Pink and yellow are standing out for me at the moment. Purple is a constant regardless of time of year.

Jersey Shore Deb said...

I often do change up my colors for spring/summer--I have some beautiful pink (not too pale, but not too hot either) that I am thinking of using for the Printed Silk Cardigan that was in Interweave several years ago. I also like lighter weight yarns when the weather is hot.

pigbook1 said...

spring is all about baby plants and easter so I use light, pastel colors. light pink is my favorite

Taloferia said...

I'm not sure if I change colour preferences through the year...but green is always a favourite and seems suitable to spring :) I have a green cropped cardi in the queue, perfect for spring.

Curerntly I'm knitting with a lovely teal color. I started the project back in early Feb when it was dreary and grey. It is making me wish spring was closer!

Last spring it was emerald green. Before that it was coral pink. And next spring (we're near fall here), I was thinking about something blueish.

Denise Cole said...

I love knitting with apple greens, raspberries and turquoise :)

Kassia said...

Hmmm.... I usually knit with similar colors all year round, but I do turn to knitting more socks in the spring. Maybe in anticipation of needing something small to knit in the summer?

Mim said...

I don't think I knit colors with the seasons. I just knit whatever I feel like when I feel like it. That being said I have been working on a pair of socks that are definitely more spring than winter in color. And they have been making me very happy.

Erin said...

I just finished a project in a beautiful yellow-green flecked with blue. It is so pretty and fresh.

Jen Price said...

I'm really digging terra cotta right now!

Christine Lima said...

Oh the things I could do with those colors...

Anonymous said...

Ooooh, beautiful yarn!

I usually knit using dark colors. When I use light or medium colors, it's usually not for something wearable.

I took the plunge last winter and made a purple sweater for spring. I love it! Maybe I'll use light green or red next.

Anonymous said...

I knit with more cheerful colors frme srprin till the begining of autumn.
For winder I prefer darker colors. For a reason I feel them more warm!

asteride said...

Azul azul for sure, no pastels here. And no, I change every season and every year. I like to change and have my purple period or my dark green period. There is only one color I can't really stand: brown in all shades.

Anonymous said...

For some reason I feel the darker cloros more warm and I knit with them only at wider. I defenetly need more cheerful colors on spring and summer!

andiknit said...

I tend to knit with the same colors all year, though my preferences do seem to change, especially if I see a pretty colored skein.

Ginger said...

I don't change my colors much throughout the year. Sometimes in the spring I'm knitting in bright colors and sometimes dark colors, just depends on the project and what I'm going for with it.

Denise said...

It depends on what pattern I'm knitting. I don't have a particular color that I knit with just for Spring, although if it's Fall I am usually in the mood for orange and browns etc. If I did knit a spring top I'd probably pick a soft yellow or pink :)

nightpaws said...

Most of my stash consists of yarn given to me by friends who had yarn lying around that they didn't want. Unfortunately, this means I mostly fish through my stash and come up with something pink - all year round. This spring I'll make sure to buy some new yarn, probably in green.

Lisa Ashby said...

I always go for pastels in spring. Green in my favorite right now.

Kim said...

In the spring I tend to use lighter shades of pinks, greens and light beige.

Anonymous said...

I tend to stick with greys, blues and purples most of the year, but when the nights get shorter, I tend to be drawn more to pinks and greens, and any colour that really POPS. I also like pastels, but those work all year round for me.

Suburban prep said...

I love blues any time of the year. I also love knitting with a pink and green as well.

bloups said...

Oranges, pinks, yellows, bright blues... Anything that reminds me sunshine and flowers, to get out of the grey.
In winter, it's more purples and greys, dark colors...

Rhian Drinkwater said...

I love a really bright spring green - am knitting socks for my toddler in some right at this moment!

Becky said...

I usually knit with the smae colors all year round.

Jen said...

I like to joke that I'm like Picasso -- I used to be in my Blue Phase, and now I'm in my Green Phase. Or at least all the yarn I'm buying is green!

Liz said...

I didn't think I had color preferences when it came to the seasons, but I realize now that I tend to knit green items in the spring and move to russets and oranges in the fall. Blue, however, is a year-round color, apparently.

Holly said...

If anything, I knit with bright colors in the winter to combat the gloom.

I pretty much use the same colors, but at different ends of the spectrum. I'm all about the greens..and in fall/winter it's the darker woodsy greens...in spring summer it's the lighter, brighter greens...it helps that my birthday is in August and peridot is the birthstone...I also do the same with purples..darker plum colors in the fall/winter, lighter lilacy colors in spring/summer...

DaaperSuz said...

These yarns are beautiful! I love purple all year long, but especially in the Spring! :)

Rae Lynne said...

Wow, that's some beautiful yarn! :)

I tend to knit with the same colors all year round, but when I think specifically of knitting colors for spring I think of teals and green-blues, yellows, white and lighter, vibrant pinks. This could be separate or all together. :)

Katrina @ Pics, Pages & Purls said...

I actually don't purposely go out and get new colors to knit in the spring. I tend to look at more "cheerful" colors right before Spring is about to spring! But I usually knit colors based on project & who they are for. What a LOVELY giveaway!!! I hope I can get lucky!

Michaela said...

I recently went to Germany, and brought back a lovely hand-dyed skein of sock yarn in a refreshing yellow-green. It will be my favourite color this spring, and I am planning to make a light and airy scarf out if it!! All shades of green are a big favourite for me for spring!

I am knitmish on Rav. Thanks for such an awesome giveaway!

Emily said...

I'm usually so far behind with whatever I'm knitting that it's never the right colour for the season! :)

Heather said...

For me, the first colors of spring are red (maple buds) and yellow (forsythia) so I tend to gravitate toward those colors. Of course, I also love spring green yarn, but I use that all year round.

Ely said...

I went to a yarnstore recently and the only colours that would call out to me were fresh greens, pinks and warm purples. Quite a change from the blue, grey and blues I have been knitting with lately.

I absolutly love this giveaway :-)I pretty much knit with the same colors all year round. Sometimes I'll throw in a color i don't usually pick but it's not season related.

Come on good karma :-)

ChrisC said...

Oooooh, those colors are stunning. I really hope I win! I don't really have winter / summer colors in my knitting. I tend toward jewel tones year-around, and charcoal and grey when I want something more neutral or am knitting for a guy.

Gosh, I would have to say that i tend to knith with light purples and whites during the spring/summer time. Of course i just go with the flow of whatever inspires me too. =)

This is one great giveaway!! Thanks!

I love bright pinks, greens, and yellows in the spring. But I think my favorite spring color is bright, clear periwinkle. It just says "new" and "fresh" to me!

Brenda said...

I tend to use the same color palette all the time, but I have to say, a fresh spring green, the color of new leaves, is very appealing right now!

Thx for the awesome giveaway!

A soft yet bright orange is my favorite this year...all my other knitting is dark blues, dark browns, and I want something that pops!

Luckily I found a giant bag of 80% off Malabrigo to help me out.

I knit with bright colors at anytime of the year. But sometimes I use deep colors I don't think of them as dark colors.

so happy I found you

I tend to knit with the same colors all year round. But instead of knitting hats and scarves, I start crafting lighter projects, like shawls. Or I make purses, because anyone can use a purse year round!

Blues and browns all year round - but bright shades for spring and pale shades for summer!

This spring, I'm starting to get into the light blues, with slight lavendar or violet undertones. Very Easter-ish, but I like it anyway!

Kayla said...

I love yellow and purple

Tanya said...

I find myself drawn to the bright greens...lettuce green, lime green, kiwi green, etc at spring time...I'm sure it's because of the new growth in nature, but it gets me every time! I also seem to knit a lot of red...hmmm. Maybe reminiscing on Christmas?

rockbridge said...

Oh that Prince colorway is gorgeous...

I usually gravitate towards grass green and teal - all year long, really. But lately I've developed a springtime-ish taste for pale pink-orange...

Jen said...

I love green - in fact, I love it so much I have to make sure I don't only knit with this color! However, I am currently knitting with a yarn that is called 'grass' - it's a beautiful shade of light green, just like spring grass.

For spring knitting I would probably choose green, similiar to the colours of new shoots. Definitely steer away from reds. Then as the season gets hotter so does my yarn reds/oranges/yellows - bright

I have found that my projects dictate my palette more so than the season. Most of my projects come from my stash, most of which is inherited right now. So I have a lot of spring colors, that I normally wouldn't, right now. It's pretty fun.

Actually, I love to knit up in jewels tones, and one of my favorite colors to knit is red but I usually only use it to accent when it is bright... but socks or a scarf sound like a great accent accessory. LOL

However, that being said, I am having a fun time with charcoal lately and how wonderfully it adds to everything in my wardrobe.

So you can choose either on for me and all shall be well... IF I am able to win this one. ^_^

I like blues and purples in the springtime. Actually, I like them year round, but I tend to go for darker shades in the winter and brighter ones in the spring.

funnily enough I brighten my colours in winter normally, I do like purple for spring though, it reminds me of the purple iris that pops its head up.

My favorite color is purple. I tend to knit in purple colors all year round. I especially love deep purples, which are colors I choose in fall and winter (most often). I don't like pastels, but I will use a more royal purple for spring and summer.

I am ablsolute maniac when it comes to rich shades of blue like this prize yarn! I would love it any time of year. I don't follw the seasons in terms of the colors use. I knit with whatever grabs me at the moment.

I knit in the same colors all year round. I just started a rainbow shawl! I love bright colors.

I think I am doing it the other way around and am attracted to the cheerful colours when it is gray outside but I knit the cheerful in the summer too :)

I knit with whatever color appeals to my mood. I'm knitting away the winter doldrums with a rich, vibrant red right now!

I do tend to use brighter colors as we approach spring. I like bright colors year round, but they kind of shift to an even brighter version this time of year: Sunshine yellow becomes a daffodil yellow, grass green becomes new leaf green, etc.

This is a fantastic giveaway! I have Squishy mitts in my queue right now- and I love the For Better or Worsted colorways so much- another yarn on my must kit with list!

I just knit a gorgeous white hat for my mom. I usually knit in rich darker colors, but white is so perfect for a late winter hat.

Oh would I love to win some of this yarn, and I really like the sweater pattern. I always reach for pinks, but spring and summer I tend to want the bright pinks. :-)

This spring I'm really gravitating to fresh greens. Hoping the green in my knitting will be followed by more green in the landscape!

Orange, orange, orange. The smell, the color the taste!! Helps me through these NW winters.

I don't think my color choices change with the seasons. I do tend to knit with blues and greens. Although lately I've been buying a lot of contrasting colors to go with all my blues and greens.

What glorious-looking yarn!
I prefer to knit with bright colours all year, but in spring I tend to get inspired by the colours of the new flowers - my bright yellow tulips and purple sweet peas, and the fresh green of new oak leaves.

I knit with the same colors all year long - I have no favorite spring color to work with.

I just rediscovered the oranges and greens in my stash. I think I'm ready for spring!

My favorite color to knit with, and not just in spring, is blue. All blue, all the time. In the winter I might bust out a little green, purple, or grey to liven things up a little. :)

I have a thing for anything rainbowcolored, and theat will be my all year favorite color. I generally like to knit with bright colors, and my favorite colors for spring is yellows, bright greens and bright oranges.

I use spring as a time to revisit my stash and pull out colors for projects that have fallen to the bottom. This year it's yellow (for a buttonhole bag) and green (for a shawl). The colors make me feel like the wretched gray weather might eventually end. maybe.

Yellow and pink would have to be my favorite spring knitting colors. What a wonderful giveaway!

Green, green and green. Light green, grass green, green, green, green.

This isn't always my favorite spring color, but this year I'm expecting a baby boy in just a few weeks. Almost everything coming off my needles is light blue and bright yellow these days. :-)

When I think of spring knitting, I think of pastel colours. Many years ago I had a pattern book (lost somewhere either through several moves or the house fire) that had a beautiful white cardigan with argyle diamond patterns down the front and my dream was to knit the white cardi along with diamonds in alternating pale pink, blue and green for a really fresh spring look.

I tend to knit the same colors all the time- I love supersaturated vibrant colors colors - and save the picks and pastels for my daughter and god daughter who loves them!

Oh, that is gorgeous yarn! My favorite springtime colors are all in the lilac/lavender/purple/orchid range. I will knit with purple and blue all year long. I don't tend to change colors with the seasons.
