I like the finer weights from lace to sock. I have made sweaters from this fine weight and love them. Socks and scarfs abound at my home.

I'd have to say at the moment I prefer sport or worsted because of the instant gratification. So little time to knit with so many little ones, it's nice to actually complete projects in a reasonable time frame.

My favorite weight depends on what kind of "kick" I'm on at the time. I'm currently on a wild sock kick, so I'm drooling over fingering yarns, but I feel myself edging into a lace-knitting kick, so I've started digging in my stash fondling my lace yarns. When the weather gets cooler I'll probably get into a sweater kick and start shopping for nice squishy worsted and bulky.

I have to say: it depends!
Of course fingering is great for socks, shawls and small items. But I wouln't (couldn't) knit a cozy cabled cardigan out of it!
So I would choose mostly DK, and sometimes worsted for sweaters, depending on if there were details like lace or colorwork in it.

My computer is past the age of being able to watch videos, but if the prize is from Tanis, I know I want in! I don't have a favorie weight but I do have more Sport through worsted weight yarns. I get 99% of my yarn from thrift shops, and lighter yarns aren't donated often.

I feel kind of bad for admitting that my favorite weight is dk or even worsted. It seems so much more sophisticated to say sock or lace-weight, but although I love those too I love seeing quick results even more.

It's hard to say. I prefer to knit with DK as it's mostly for kids jerseys and is so much quicker. I prefer worsted for hats and scarfs (nice and cosy). But I do like using fingering or lace for my own garments as I don't like bulky clothing.

I don't have a favorite yarn weight because I like to knit various depending on my mood. Sometimes I really want a fast knit (using worsted or aran) and other times, I'm so happy to knit with fingering. I like how a typical skein of fingering tends to yield quite a big project though.

I really enjoy knitting with laceweight and fingering or sock weight yarns. I love the fine-textured cloth that results, and I also like the kinds of things one typically makes with lighter-weight yarns (socks, scarves, light-weight sweaters). But I'm fairly easy to please--the only weight of yarn I really don't like at all is bulky weight.

While I love fingering weight, my favourite has to be worsted. I make a lot of hats and mittens, and they have to be warm! Also, worsted weight yarn just feels satisfyingly substantial when I work with it.

I love sport weight for socks. They are a little thicker but still great in my Crocs and they knit up so much faster! Close second would be sock weight yarns. They are so readily availble and so many patterns to choose from too!

Hmm, I'd have to say that currently it's fingering. I've only just 'discovered' knitting with it, and love it because there are SO many yarns out there, and you can make an entire item out of one skein so it's not too expensive! Lovely interview with Tanis - I just ordered some of her yarns and can't wait to start knitting with them.

I love how Tanis organizes her website by colour. It's a great idea. My favourite line is Aran Green Label. I love the bounce in the yarn and it's beautiful and durable yarn for young active children. Tanis's Purple label is a close second. So soft and yummy.

I seem to go through stages with my faves- summertime equals light fingering weights, fall and winter call for bulkier knits. But I've been spinning mostly DK weight right now and fantasizing about what those yarns will end up being so... :-)

I am truely addicted to fingering weight, the versatility is awesome and you can just fall in love with a color and figure out what it will be when the mood strikes. I must say that for a relative newbie like myself sport weight for shawls is the way to go to get initiated into lace, much easier to get the hang of and quicker of course too.

I have to say, my favorite is Fingering, just like Tanis - it's so lovely and versatile, and there is so much variety these days. 100% merino to cashmere blends, and beautiful shaded solids and crazy variegated colors - they're so beautiful!

I agree. Fingering is lovely. Nothing heavier than a DK or I can't wear the sweater inside because it's too hot. Fingering weight also allows for more pattern expression since you have more stitches to the inch to work with. Picturing a beautiful fair isle done with some of the beautiful colours from the colour page is making my mouth water.

I tend to pick up worsted weight because I know I can knit/crochet QUICKLY with it. Although i'm going to agree with many of the previous comments in that you can ALWAYS make something out of a skein of sock yarn...not just socks at that!
I'd also add that Tanis is JUST as wonderful in person as she is in a video interview. One of my favourite Yarn-people ever!!!

My favorite all time weight of yarn is lace-weight. I knit a lot of lace, and I have been known to combine lace weights to make my own tweedy dk or worsted weight. I'm a process knitter, so the more stitches I get out of it, the happier I am :)

I am totally addicted to fingering weight. Mainly I knit socks ( preemie hats & baby socks with the leftovers). Planning to do my first shawl as soon as I decide on the perfect pattern. Second place has to go to sport from which I make baby blankets

For me it's a tie between fingering weight & super bulky. I started on socks almost as soon as I learned to knit and I'm hooked! But I also love a squooshy, super bulky yarn that is soft and makes projects seem to fly off the needles. (Ravelry name: MsKatie)

Now that I have worked my way down from worsted to lace weight over the years, I still think my favorite weight is fingering. It IS so versatile... knits up a bit faster than lace, but one can still get very gratifying results with smaller-than-worsted/sport-yarn!

Although most of my stash is worsted weight, I'm finding I like working with finer yarns. I'm finishing a sweater now with fingering weight and also have made several shawlettes from my sock yarn stash. Tanis' yarns are beautiful and I hope to try some soon.

Wow - lots of fingering weight lovers out there! Count me in!! I like the oodles of possibilities with a fingering yarn as well as knitting with smaller needles. That being said, I've been working on a sweater made of a fingering weight yarn FOREVER...so for sweaters I say I prefer a heavier weight.

Ooh, picking a favorite weight is tough. Most of what I make is in either fingering (for shawls and some baby stuff) or worsted. I DON'T like bulky or heavy worsted -- the results just feel too inelegant to me.

Fingering weight! Living in Arizona makes wearing heavier weight yarn a little unbearable sometimes. So my usual go to yarn is Fingering weight, love it! I also love all the colors Tanis fiber has to offer! simply beautiful!

I think I am most comfortable working with worsted. This could just be because I haven't broadened my horizons enough and am just now starting to work with finer yarns. But, I do like worsted's versatility, you can make pretty much anything with it and it will be a pretty quick project.

Fingering is the yarn I have the most use for. Just one skein is often enough for whatever I can think to make of it. That's rarely the case for other weights!

DK is my favourite, with fingering as a close #2. Using DK doesn't result in bulky FOs, and also knits up very quickly.
Plus, Tanis's DK is to die for. Soft, squishy yarns in beautiful colourways.

Although it usually comes in smaller skeins, my favorite weight is worsted...My fingers cramp a lot when using smaller weights..

I've loved TFA since I purchased her fingering weight in Orange Blossom. That skein of yarn was my companion on a long drive from Manitoba to New Brunswick.

I do tend to like the worsted best...makes a nice fabric, not too bulky, but knits up quickly enough. Sock yarn is often very pretty, but the tiny needles frustrate me!

It is a tie between worsted and fingering. Worsted because it knits up so quick, and fingering because it comes in such beautiful handpaints (and also you get so much knitting for the price!)

My favourite weight of yarn goes back and forth between fingering and worsted. Fingering for the gorgeous socks that I can create with it. Worsted is my favourite when I want something to go quick (like a sweater).

I've decided I don't really have a favorite weight-I make sweaters and other projects will all weights of yarn. I have a least favorite, however, which is bulky weight yarn.

I really enjoyed making the Baby Shane blanket which was DK weight. But I also enjoy the sock weight and just bought some aran weight!! Do I have to pick just one!?

I love the feel of fingering for myself, but prefer knitting in dk when making sweaters for my boys. I can finish them faster before they grow out of it!

My favorite weight of yarn seems to change depending on what my favorite projects of the season seem to be, lately I am loving Sport weight yarns as I am knitting an abundance of baby sweaters. Its fine enough that I can use US size 2 needs but thick enough that the projects seem to go quickly.

My favorite weight of yarn is fingering. I love to make socks and shawls. Right now I'm working on a sweater made of fingering weight and am amazed at how quickly it's going together! Maybe it's because the color is so great.

Living in the southern US, it gets warm in February/March and stays that way until October/November so I like fingering weight yarn best. I also like it because it is versatile enough to make different sorts of items. I am so glad Tanis posted about her interview with YOTH because now I've found a whole new knitting blog to keep up with! I really enjoyed the interview too.

I used to love worsted weight, but have grown to like thinner yarns over time. I just started knitting socks, so I think fingering is my new favorite.

I like buying fingering weight yarn, 'cos I can knit some many different things with it, from socks to shawls. But I also use a lot of DK for making toys.

I think I like good old worsted the best... would like to try some finer weight yarns for small projects, but I love being able to see the work progressing quickly using worsted.

I don't know that I can pick just one weight of yarn. Sport weight is wonderful for how quickly things can work up and still feel delicate. And fingering is great for its versatility. And I have yet to meet a lace weight yarn I haven't enjoyed. So hard to pick just one!

I loved sport wt until i discovered finger wt for shawls and sweaters that are light and airy.
but being a yarn addict I love any yarn that is gifted to me.

I have to say, my favorite yarn weight tends to be the opposite of what I've last worked with! I'm a big fan of variety. I also find texture to be more important to me than weight, but if I just have to pick one I do believe my fingers have loved some aran yarns the best.

What a lovely interview! TFA is my absolute favorite yarn company, so thank you for doing a great interview, it was really cool to watch.
My favorite weight to work with is Aran, it's so satisfying to see the stitches knit up so quickly, and it's deliciously cozy... it just has everything I love in a yarn haha I honestly do heart Aran.

I think my favorite yarn wt to knit w/is DK. It's still pretty versatile…garments, blankets, gloves, shawls, but not so thin that it seems like it takes forever for something to knit up.

I go crazy for sock weight or lighter yarns. They are so versatile and you can double, triple, etc, to get a heavier weight if desired.

I don't know that I really have a favorite. It all depends on the project that I am working on. I'd say that I definitely use worsted the most because it is the most practical for where I live and who I knit for. But, I rather enjoy knitting with lighter weight yarns such as fingering or even lace. BTW, I was eyeing up Tanis's hats just the other day and have been dying to try out her yarns.

I enjoy working with all weights, but I especially like fingering/sock weight right now as heavier weights aren't as appealing to me during the hot, dry summer months. (I do keep a bag stocked with skeins of worsted cotton for dishcloths when I want a quick change of pace.)

My favorite weight of yarn to knit with is....All weights. I know that that is such a lame answer but I just love yarn and knitting so much. It is amazing to me how you can take a skein of yarn super thin or super thick and make anything from a small sweater to a pair of socks to a hat or a scarf or shawl.

My favorite weight yarn definitely varies with the season. I love fingering right now, as it's summer, and I can't imagine knitting with anything too heavy. But come fall and winter, I love knitting with worsted, using my bigger needles, and getting through my projects much faster.

It sure is nice that I can finally watch the videos - we finally got rid of our old dial-up connection! Favorite weight of yarn? I really like anything between fingering and worsted, depending on the project, although it seems you can do more things with one skein of fingering than you can with, say, one skein of worsted, so, economically speaking, I'd have to go with fingering.
