This giveaway post is going to be short and sweet, but filled with lots of goodies! I'm taking off tonight to head over to Napa Valley, CA, for my best friend's wedding. It's been a busy last couple of weeks, but I never let my followers down! This giveaway is awesome!!

I have for you Stephen West's Daybreak shawl and some of the most beautiful yarn I've ever used, by indie yarn dyer Cathrin of Walk Collection.

I ran across Walk Collection while browsing Etsy earlier this year and when I saw Cathrin's beautiful hand dyed yarns I honestly squeeled! I don't use variegated colorways very often, but I fell quickly in love with her Purgatory color. I contacted her promptly and asked if she could dye up a matching semi-solid dark color to compliment the Purgatory skein and I knew that I wanted to use the yarn for my very own Daybreak shawl (which I had been itching to knit forEVA!). Here's my listed and purchased set on Etsy.

To top it all off, Stephen so willing obliged and donated some Daybreak shawl patterns for this giveaway. I told you it was gonna be awesome!

Check out my fabulous finished Daybreak shawl in Walk Collection Bluefaced Leicester sock yarn:

This was my first time working with a BFL, if I'm not mistaken, and I thoroughly enjoyed the fiber. And, Cathrin's colorways are just magical! And, I don't have to tell you how much I love Stephen's designs... I have not run across one pattern from that man that I don't adore. So very well written, laid out, easy to follow, and not to mention beautiful and unique. What else could a knitter ask for?!

Here's the lovely Walk Collection gift set one Grand Prize Winner has a chance to win plus a PDF copy of the Daybreak shawl pattern of course:

Two Runners Up will also receive their very own copy of the pattern as well!! Thanks Walk Collection and Stephen!

I would like you to do the following if you would like to be entered into this week's giveaway:

1. Read over the rules if you have not done so already.

2. Leave a comment on this blog post by the end of Sunday, 9/25/11. I'm curious how many of you shop for yarn on Etsy?

I'll randomly pick the winners in 2 weeks and post the results along with the new giveaway, so be sure to check back. Good luck everyone.

Sincerely,

Ve

What an awesome contest! I adore Etsy and there are a lot of amazing sellers on there. I've bought yarn from BlackTrillium on Etsy before, another great yarn seller with gorgeous gorgeous colours. I cannot recommend her enough.
And your daybreak shawl is so gorgeous!!!

I have yet to buy any yarn from Etsy, but I definitely look! Whenever I have more money to do it, I'll pick up a few things I've been eyeing.

I am an avid browser of Walk Collection on etsy, although I haven't taken the plunge yet & bought anything- I'm always either too late and there's only one skein left of something I need more of, or the wrong weight, etc.

There are a couple of yarns I follow on etsy, although most of them are moving off & onto their own sites at this point.

I've * looked* at yarn on etsy a couple times, but only once have I *purchased* a yarn (from Dragonfly Fibers), and I LOVE it.

Fantastic giveaway! I have admired Stephen West's daybreak shawl for a long time. I am thinking that if I don't win, I will buy it for Christmas.
Have lurked, but never bought on etsy.
Thanks for a chance in your giveaway.

I peruse yarn on etsy ALL the time. I try to not buy that much . . . But, well, I am only a knitting human!

Goodmorning, I have not purchased yarn off etsy, yet. I'm on a fairly tight budget due to a back injury. So for now I'm doing small projects to use up my stash yarn. Anyways, you'll see me often, since I can always use free yarn ;) but then again who says no to free? Lol Have a great day!

I haven't bought yarn from Etsy, but I seriously need to start! I know there are some wonderful gems from indie dyers.

I sometimes browse Etsy, or other online sellers for yarn, but I have never bought any. I am way too much of an impulse yarn buyer to plan things out. I see yarn in my local shop and then find projects for it after the fact.

As of yet, I haven't purchased any yarn off Etsy, but I have done an awful lot of window shopping.

Your Daybreak turned out gorgeous, I just love those colors together. And I go window shopping on Etsy regularly, but I haven't purchased any yarn from a seller as of yet. (The instant gratification of my LYS is too much of a lure when I have some extra money in my pocket)

I've yet to buy yarn on etsy, though I've seen some beautiful offerings.

so much of my yarn buying decision is based on touch, and color of course. I have looked at yarns on etsy and wished for a "feel" app...I go to etsy more for patterns and design ideas. l love this yarn you are giving away, feel app or not.

I've been an Etsy buyer and seller since they opened. I love to shop there to support local artists as much as possible. I usually check the local results of my searches first and then if I find nothing, expand to the US and BC areas (much love for my Canadian neighbors)

Wow, that Purgatory colorway is FANTASTIC! Great colors for Daybreak! I have yet to buy yarns from Etsy if only due to being unemployed, but once I get a job, watch out! The stores that sell yarn better watch out!
