The two Runners Up who have each won a copy of the pattern are:

meppybn & GerryART

Congratulations! Please contact me at yarnonthehouse@gmail.com to collect your prizes.

I'm so excited to share this giveaway's yarn and project! The yarn sponsor this time is an awesome indie hand dyeing yarn genius by the name Rose of Cakewalk Yarns. Rose has an Etsy shop filled with lots of beautiful and very unique yarns, but her specialty in my opinion is her multi colored skeins of sock yarn. They are truly one of kind!

Rose was sweet enough to send me a gift skein of her lovely Sudden Valley colorway to try out and oh boy, did I love it! As soon as I saw a picture of the color, I knew this skein wanted to become a shawl and I chose the simple, but clever pattern Lacy Baktus to knit it up into. Yes, a freebie! Check out my fabulous shawlette!

Colorway: Sudden Valley

Isn't it just perfect?! The yarn was so addictive to knit with and reminds me of sprinkles on birthday cake. The bursts of sunny yellow, Bermuda blues, and spots of vibrant reds and purples had me not wanting to set the project down the whole time! I'm not one for highly variegated colorways (just a personal choice), but this neat and inventive coloring technique of Sudden Valley turned out really breath taking. Everyone around me who either saw me working on the shawl or saw it completed couldn't stop talking about how cool it looks!

Rose has lots of other great colored skeins of yarn in her shop now that I would love to knit with... Weenie, Cherry Blossom, and Bloom. Honestly, she has a shop loaded with lots of fabulous yarns! It would be hard for me to choose just one.

Cakewalk Yarns has sent over two extra skeins of Footsie sock yarn in the colorway Sudden Valley for two lucky followers to have a chance to win! Enjoy!

Sudden Valley isn't one I would have ever expected to like from the skein, but knit it up it's rather spectacular.
There's so many lovely colors it's hard to pick, but I think my favorite by a bare little bit is Iolite.

  28. Stranded Things says:

    September 27, 2011 4:02 AM

I'm like you and tend to prefer less variegated yarns, but this one looks amazing knitted up! Usually it's the other way around. My more conservative taste fell in love with Magilla.

  29. Rasa says:

    September 27, 2011 4:25 AM

Too many beautiful colors to choose from - Ink, Magilla, Castle, Abalone...just pick one for me and I'm sure I'll like it!!!

  30. Sue Lowe Says:

    September 27, 2011 4:33 AM

As a rule, I'm not as fond of highly varigated yarns. I prefer more tonal than dramatic changes but I have to admit that this one is very pretty, almost appearing to "sprinkle" colour here and there rather that the large blobs you can sometime get with varigated yarn. If, I had to choose my favourite among all the colourways though, it would have to be OPAL. The opal is my birthstone and the colours in this yarn are just incredible!

  31. Eva says:

    September 27, 2011 4:47 AM

I'm incapable of picking just one (my horoscope says so). But I managed to narrow the favorites list down to three: Cherry Blossom, Sudden Valley and Durango.
