Let's start this giveaway off with a picture of the mystery giveaway:

TIGyarn

Awesome, right?! I told you that there would be ONE very lucky winner. And, the winner is:

Jen

Congratulations! Please contact me at yarnonthehouse@gmail.com to collect your prizes.

It's no secret that I love Stephen West's work. I've knit quite a few of his designs - especially his hat patterns for my hubby. Stephen is releasing his Westknits Book Three very shortly and he's done it again! The collection is cholk-full of beautiful, textured knitwear. Some of my favorites are: Bedrock, Moose River, Old Forge, and I'm loving the Sun Satchel.

But, my most favorite is the Dustland Hat and Mitts. I had the opportunity to knit up a Dustland Hat and it was such a pleasure. Fast, interesting, easy to follow with a fantastic FO at the end! I'm singing the same ol' song though. What can I say, Westknits is a keeper. Here are some pictures of my fabulous Dustland Hat:

Modeled by: Jane & Danny

We had (and, still have) a winter wonderland in Woodinville, so this photo shoot with my bro and his girlfriend turned out so cute. Aren't they just adorable?! Not to mention how great the hat is!! It looks just as wonderful on Jane as it does on Danny. I love the outcome. Originally I wanted to knit this hat for hubby, but I think he's going to have to fight me for it!

In addition to the fun Westknits Book Three giveaway, I have a terrific yarn sponsor for you this time around. Skein is our lovely and very gracious sponsor. I have not had the opportunity to knit with Skein yarns as of yet, but I plan on changing that very soon. Skein's colorways are so amazing! I've been stalking their site for the last few weeks trying to decide what I would like to order. Stephen used Skein to knit the Moose River cowl out of their Merino/Silk Worsted. Stunning, right?!

Skein has been kind enough to send over two skeins of Top Draw Socks in the Barley color for two lucky followers to have a chance to win…

Skeinyarnblog

Along with the yarn, the two followers will each win an e-book copy of Stephen's West Knits Book Three. Yay!

I would like you to do the following if you would like to be entered into this week's giveaway:

1. Read over the rules if you have not done so already.

2. Leave a comment on this blog post by the end of Sunday, 1/29/12. What's your favorite WK Book Three pattern? And, if you were me, which color would you order from Skein?

I'll randomly pick the winners in 2 weeks and post the results along with the new giveaway, so be sure to check back. Good luck everyone.

Sincerely,

Ve

I like Longview, fantastic cables. As for which colorway of Skein to order, I'm tempted to say one of each. Seriously, those are some gorgeous colorways! Envy is the one I'm most coveting, and I'll be envious if you order it.

  2. Alex says:

    January 16, 2012 6:51 PM

Gotta be Old Forge and Industrial Age (oooh they fit together.)

  3. Marlitharn says:

    January 16, 2012 6:51 PM

Woohoo, I'm in first! Old Forge really caught my eye (actually the model caught my eye first - rawr - but I'm assuming he's not up for grabs). And I really like the Sugar colorway at Skein - it just looks warm and soft and creamy and wonderful.

  4. CrookedKnitter says:

    January 16, 2012 7:00 PM

I'm loving Longview and I'd have to go with Fig. I'm really drawn to that color, though they are all so wonderful!

  5. Charlotte says:

    January 16, 2012 7:05 PM

I love old forge but would probably never cast it on myself .... bedrock looks more achievable.

If I were to order yarn from skein it would be either blue wren or little red.

Thanks for this chance to win lovelies again.

  6. LochKnitsMonster says:

    January 16, 2012 7:08 PM

I like the Dustland hat and mitts as a set. Old Forge is a real show stopper but looks a little too ambitious for me right now. As for the color, I pick Organic. Persian green, teal, and slate grey? Yes, please.

  7. Suzanne says:

    January 16, 2012 7:10 PM

whoa! Skein has some beautiful colorways. It would be very difficult to choose. I love their variegated ones like fig, nori and briar. As for the new patterns, I really like Longview.

  8. grandmastatus says:

    January 16, 2012 7:12 PM

BEAUTIFUL colorway. I love Stephen West as well, and out of this collection I am most drawn to the Dustland mitts. And just to make me even happier there's a hat! Squee!!

As for colorway... oh my goodness. So many beautiful colors. I love hopeless romantic. and Sugar. And um, well, all of them.

    Good luck to all. ♥

  9. Rachel R. says:

    January 16, 2012 7:13 PM

I really like Moose River - a big squishy cowl would be awesome in this cold weather - in Outlaw.

  10. Christine says:

    January 16, 2012 7:16 PM

I'm loving the Dustland hat and the Beach Shack color way!

  11. Heather says:

    January 16, 2012 7:17 PM

I loooove Old Forge, but the Sun Satchel looks more achievable. Skein has so many pretty color ways I'm having a hard time choosing, but I think that Cocoa and Night Owl are my favorites.

  12. BrittanyLaine Says:

    January 16, 2012 7:19 PM

I like Dustland the best, definitely. And as for colors, I really love blue wren!

  13. Carla says:

    January 16, 2012 7:27 PM

    I like Longview in Quill.
I would also like the model wearing it if you can arrange that!

  14. jennybookworm says:

    January 16, 2012 7:28 PM

I really like Thendara in the Westknits book - the shape of that shawl/scarf is very cool! I would pick Equinox or Spice in the yarn - really gorgeous colours!

  15. Zabbers says:

    January 16, 2012 7:33 PM

I've had my eye on Old Forge for a long time (though I'm wondering if it would work as a lighter-weight shawl rather than an aran-weight blanket). And Skein colorways...oh my...I would get Outlaw. I've spun some targhee by Skein and just adored it.

  16. Cate says:

    January 16, 2012 7:34 PM

Dustland Mitts. And Pearl, or maybe Plum.

  17. Amanda Lyn says:

    January 16, 2012 7:34 PM

Old Forge stole my heart just now. Barley is my favorite color from Skein, close call with Inkstone.

  18. Kathy says:

    January 16, 2012 7:35 PM

I love pretty much everything in the new book, although I have my eye on Moose River. I love Barley, and Urban, and geez, I could go on for a while! I pre-ordered WestKnits 3 a while ago, so someone else could have the book, but oh man, would I love to try Skein!

  19. Jen says:

    January 16, 2012 7:40 PM

Dustland hat & mitts. And I am in love with the Sugar colorway!!

  20. Beth says:

    January 16, 2012 7:44 PM

I like Moose River, although I doubt that I know a guy confident enough to wear it...I'd just have to make it for myself. :-)

As for the Skein yarn, I LOVE the Whitewash colorway. The combination of muted pastel is not my usual thing at all, but it caught my eye immediately.

  21. flora says:

    January 16, 2012 7:44 PM

moose river and colour inkstone would be my picks!

  22. Steph says:

    January 16, 2012 7:44 PM

I'd say get some Geisha and Organic....And I think the sun satchel is pretty nifty.

  23. Christine Lima says:

    January 16, 2012 7:47 PM

I love that Seaway hat and I'd order "Make Hay While The Sun Shines" for sure. Many of the colors are beautiful, but I love the name of that one ;)

  24. Sylvie says:

    January 16, 2012 7:48 PM

I like Thendara, with its angular shaping. Plus since it's multicolored, you get to choose TWO colors of yarn. I'd pick Blush and Sugar for some warmth, or Peppermint and Urban for something cooler.

  25. marianne Says:

    January 16, 2012 7:57 PM

the pattern and colorway currently catching my attention are Thendara and Sci-fi. thanks for this chance to win!

  26. Rachelle says:

    January 16, 2012 8:05 PM

I really like the Sun Satchel, it's a bit different and very useful. For colourway I'd go with Elderberry; suck a lovely colour

  27. staci says:

    January 16, 2012 8:19 PM

Longview, hands down. Which colorway is a lot harder...Barley or Urban.

  28. jamielw says:

    January 16, 2012 8:19 PM

Wedgewood looks so cozy and I would have to go with Industrial Age. Skein dyes great greys (I already have some stashed away).

  29. Knitmish on Ravelry Says:

    January 16, 2012 8:26 PM

I love Longview- those cables look very squishy and cozy around the neck! Skein has amazing colourways! Not an easy decision, but I love both Blush and Midlands. Thank you for another fantastic chance to win!

  30. Gynx says:

    January 16, 2012 8:30 PM

I love the Longview pattern! I'm also loving the Outlaw colorway.

  31. Kristen says:

    January 16, 2012 8:37 PM

Love the Dustland Hat and Dustland Mitts. And I'd choose the color Midlands.

  32. mommieof4munchkins says:

    January 16, 2012 8:54 PM

OHHHHH Skein is one of my new favorites to drool over online! I have yet to pet it but I know I would love it. Great pics!! They look so cute :D And that hat is awesome, I will help you fight Mark for it ;)

  33. Emily says:

    January 16, 2012 9:10 PM

Old Forge. Wow. And Beach Shack for the yarn. Double wow.

  34. flossie says:

    Old Forge and Sun Satchel!!

  35. Melody says:

  36. Tiphanie says:

    January 16, 2012 9:48 PM

I like the Dustland Mitts! But it's so hard to choose just one color! I think Beach Shack or Skyline, although they are all very lovely.

  37. Chris says:

    January 16, 2012 9:48 PM

Love that Barley color. I can so see it in the Dustland Hat. I think the subtle color changes would make the patterns really pop.

  38. rockbridge says:

    January 16, 2012 10:32 PM

This one is easy for me. I love the Dustland hat (not trying to be a copycat!) and I would die for Skein's pastel sky colorway. So delicate. So gorgeous.

  39. Kristin says:

    January 17, 2012 12:46 AM

I think the Thendara pattern is really interesting! I like the Cocoa colorway at Skein, as well as Midlands!

  40. Amanda says:

    January 17, 2012 1:03 AM

Love Old Forge and the Sun Satchel.
    As for the yarn... wow.
    Midlands? Spice? Any of them!

  41. alligator says:

    January 17, 2012 1:17 AM

My favorite pattern from WK 3 is Wedgewood. It is so simple and elegant and just really seems like something I would wear. I really like Bedrock and Old Forge too.

The skein colors look really gorgeous. I am in love with gray this year so I like Graphite but Dapple really calls to me as well.

  42. Stranded Things says:

    January 17, 2012 3:09 AM

I think I gasped out loud when I saw Old Forge, but the thought of actually knitting that beautiful monster is a bit daunting. In reality, therefor, Thendara would be my first knit from the book - what can I say, I'm a sucker for stripes! It looks like an interesting knit, too.

From skein, I would order blue wren, it's so lovely and luminous.

  43. renewedmind says:

    January 17, 2012 3:25 AM

Wow! Gorgeous colors! I think I'd pick Sunlight and knit a Wedgewood with it.

  44. Tracey says:

    January 17, 2012 3:56 AM

I like the shawls but am on a hat kick. I like dust land too. And I would pick organic or pearl. But all are lovely. You can't go wrong with any of your choices.

  45. Frankly Beka says:

    January 17, 2012 3:58 AM

I really like the Dustland Mitts pattern. If I don't win I may just have to spend $6 to get it. As for Skein yarn's colors, I'm partial to Sea Salt. I also like Outlaw. The two would pair well together, don't you think?

  46. NimrodVern says:

    January 17, 2012 4:35 AM

I like the Bedrock hat. I would order the Blueprint colorway.

  47. Little Miss S. says:

    January 17, 2012 4:50 AM

It's a tie between Thendara and Wedgewood. Perhaps with the latter being slightly ahead. And if I were to choose for you I'd go with the Daisy colourway. Gorgeous colours.

  48. Debbie in KY says:

    January 17, 2012 4:51 AM

I like Old Forge and I'd make with Skein's Barky & Quill colors.

  49. Wooly Knits n Bits says:

    January 17, 2012 5:14 AM

There are so many great patterns but I love Thendara. Fav colour is Tundra. And that giveaway, OMG, could I be lucky enough??!!
    Rav: zenitude

  50. Jenna says:

    January 17, 2012 5:20 AM

I like Thendara. I'm pretty smitten with stripes lately. As for colors, I think Envy and Barley are lovely.

  51. sparkeespud says:

    January 17, 2012 5:21 AM

I have to say Old Forge is gorgeous! And picking just one fave colorway of Skein is hard. But I think today I'm feeling the Organic.

  52. Katie says:

    January 17, 2012 5:32 AM

I also love the Dustland Hat and I am torn between two colours - the varigated Industrial Age and Hopeless Romantic!

  53. Michael says:

    January 17, 2012 5:34 AM

Hard to choose, but Bedrock catches my eye (and as someone new to knitting, I think it looks like a good one to start with). As for colorway, it's almost impossible to choose. Right this second, I'd probably go for Organic.

  54. JoAnna says:

    January 17, 2012 5:46 AM

How in the world is it possible to pick one of those gorgeous colorways? Maybe Bittersweet or Spice or Midlands. Lovely! They would all be fantastic for Dustland Mitts - long gloves are AWESOME.

  55. collegeknitting says:

    January 17, 2012 5:52 AM

Do I have to pick just one favorite pattern? They're all so wonderful! I guess it would be bedrock...or maybe seaway. It's so hard to choose when all of the options are fantastic. And picking my favorite colorways are just as hard...beach shack looks like it would make an awesome pair of socks, but element has those spots of bright green! Such a hard decision.

  56. SDGvegan says:

    January 17, 2012 6:03 AM

I think I favor the dustland hat and mitts, though I rarely knit mitts. I don't know why. I should more often. Colorways are tough as they are all so gorgeous. I'd probably go for a gray shade like Be Mine, Graphite, Inkstone, or Urban. I also love the greens.

  57. MicheleStitches says:

    January 17, 2012 6:08 AM

I am strangely drawn to the Old Forge pattern. I hardly ever wear green, but Skein's Gingko is lovely.

  58. Sara says:

    January 17, 2012 6:10 AM

The Skein colorways are absolutely fabulous, as is Stephen West's design genius. It was a struggle, but I vote for Moise River in Dapple.

  59. twistedtexan says:

    January 17, 2012 6:12 AM

I love the Little Red and Spice colorways, and I would love to knit Thendara. The construction looks really interesting.

  60. Maegwin says:

    January 17, 2012 6:14 AM

I love the Longview scarf! Thanks for pointing out this book...I hadn't really looked much at Stephen West's designs before. If I were you, I'd order the blush colorway. It's deep and rich and would work for a man or woman. What a lovely giveaway. I've been enjoying seeing your projects so far this year. Keep up the sharing!

  61. sharryn says:

    January 17, 2012 6:21 AM

I love the Dustland hat ... too many beautiful patterns to chose from . Beach Shack is my favorite colorway...

    great giveaway

  62. Colleen says:

    January 17, 2012 6:39 AM

Your photos have totally sold me on the Dustland hat! It's so cool.
As for the yarn, I LOVE Be Mine! (and maybe one of those models could be mine too!)

  63. Lael says:

    January 17, 2012 6:39 AM

I think I'd start with the Seaway cap. Skein color? Maybe "Envy" or "Savannah". Lots of pretty colors!

  64. SnohoTina says:

    January 17, 2012 6:57 AM

Oh, must knit Dustland hat in the Blueprint colorway. Fantastic giveaway!

  65. Marguerite says:

    January 17, 2012 7:03 AM

I really like Theandara. The construction looks interesting, and I'm sure I would wear it all the time. As to which color Skein you should choose, I can see your dilemma. As I was scrolling down my red were bugging out. They're all lovely. In particular, plum, quill, organic, and sunlight caught my eye.

  66. Sangeetha says:

    January 17, 2012 7:05 AM

    Love Moose River and Organic

  67. amchart says:

  68. Karen says:

    January 17, 2012 7:07 AM

With your fantastic photos, you've sold me on Dustland! Though Seaway is a great hat too. My favourite Skein colour is Ao. You really have to see it in Merino/Silk Sport to get the full effect of this fantastic colour!

  69. sparky136 says:

    January 17, 2012 7:15 AM

I love Stephen West's patterns and I want to knit Dustland. My favorite colorway is Geisha

  70. Annie says:

    January 17, 2012 7:37 AM

Old Forge - no question. and I would work it with Outlaw and Envy... oooo

  71. Melinda says:

    January 17, 2012 7:39 AM

I'm loving the Sun Satchel, and Outlaw is the colorway that is calling my name! Is it calling yours?

  72. Lindr says:

    January 17, 2012 7:42 AM

Since you force me to choose, I'll have to say my favorite design is the Old Forge shawl. I think this would be amazing as a blanket!
And given the fact that I'm in the middle of a snowstorm right now, I think everyone need a little 'sunlight'. Such a dollop of cheer in the midst of winter!

  73. marlie says:

    January 17, 2012 7:48 AM

It's SOOOO hard to choose *one* pattern and *one* color! But If I had to, I think I'd go with Bedrock (hat) in Tuscany.

(Or maybe Bedrock in Sci-Fi, or Old Forge in Inkstone and Thistle... AGH, too many choices!)

  74. Aimee says:

    January 17, 2012 7:54 AM

I've had my eye on Theandra for a while now. I'd love to make it in Envy/Graphite or Envy/Outlaw. Sooo pretty!

  75. LeftSide Knits says:

    January 17, 2012 7:58 AM

I would love to see Moose River paired with a bright yellow like Sunlight. Perfect for the gloomy winter days!

  76. Laura says:

    January 17, 2012 8:01 AM

I love all the patterns, but I've been eyeing Dustland for a while. I love it in the orange you used! As for Skein, their colorways have been tempting me for a while. I'd say Fig or Midlands. Or, you could buy one of all of the colors and give the rest away once you decide!

  77. katherinelynn_04 says:

    January 17, 2012 8:04 AM

I LOVE your dustland hat. So much so I have to say that's my favorite. As for colors, talk about a hard choice. I would have to say Ginko, because it is SO HARD to find a nice green and that one is beautiful. But there were so many other colors! Like elderberry and the reds.

  78. susanmhj says:

    January 17, 2012 8:08 AM

So hard to choose one color, lots to love! So guess I would go with ghost gum for the moose river cowl!

  79. Eva says:

    January 17, 2012 8:13 AM

This decision making has nearly short circuited my brain.
My favorites would have to be Old Forge and Blue Wren.
Now if I can just manage to post the comment without changing my mind again...

  80. Sabrina says:

    January 17, 2012 8:15 AM

I think Longview is my favorite, though there are a few that I really like a lot! As far as colorways go, I am having a tough time choosing. But, 3 of my favorites are Sugar, Thistle, and Midlands.

  81. Judi A. says:

    January 17, 2012 8:22 AM

I like Thendara. The shape fascinates me.
All the colors are beautiful but I settled on Hopelessly Romantic.

  82. chels says:

    January 17, 2012 8:33 AM

    I like Wedgewood, very classy.
Wow, the colors! how can you choose? Umm, lets say Keffir Lime.

  83. Megan says:

    January 17, 2012 8:36 AM

My favorite is definitely the Dustland hat and mitts. My friend is knitting the mitts and I COVER them! Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  84. syd says:

    January 17, 2012 8:41 AM

Such hard choices!! Dustland hat would be a fun next project... and the colors! I keep changing my mind about the color -- I think my favorite might be sterling. :-)

  85. Jessica Snell says:

    January 17, 2012 8:44 AM

I think I'd make Wedgewood out of that book - it looks like something that my husband would enjoy wearing on his walk to work. And I'd order Gingko - it's just and *interesting* combo of colors; I think it'd be fun to see how it worked up.

  86. October Rose says:

    January 17, 2012 8:49 AM

I'm on a blanket kick right now, so I'm really liking Old Forge. And I have to say that both the name and the color of Hopeless Romantic is seriously making me crave a new skein of yarn ...

  87. Knittingdancer on Ravelry says:

Color? Gingko or Tundra or Sea Salt or Spice... There are so many awesome colors at Skein!

  93. Michele L. Says:

I think the Seaway hat is my fave, though it totally needs a bobble on top :-) As for the Skein yarns -- woah. Those colors are fabulous! How do you even choose? I think I like rouge the best, or maybe plum. Or Midlands! Sorry Madelinetosh -- I think I have a new yarn obsession :-)

The thendara scarf for sure! sooooo beautiful. I cannot even handle it. I can't wait to get my hands on the pattern.

Wow so many colors so beautiful Industrial Age is so unique, I would have to pick it. THe colorway is not something you normally see. I think I have to agress with Alex, that this color goes with Old Forge, but other colors would go with other projects. Being So Calif, hats are not a hot item to make.

do love his patterns and have made one of his scarfs

Dustland Mitts strike me - I love long fingerless gloves, and the texture looks totally appealing. Been hearing lots about Skein, and they are just over the pond from me so I anticipate getting my hands on some in the future. Dolce really sings out to me, but also Silva and Ghost Gum.

Hope you'll bring us an interview from Skein sometime - her colours are so unique and interesting I'd love to hear about the inspiration and process!

I have to say that the Dustland set is my favorite. Colors are so hard, I want one in each of those colors. Spice and Ghost Gum are my two favorites though. I just love the name and it fits the dusty pink/gray coloring.

I am a sucker for hats, so Seaward is obviously right up my alley. Picking a color, however, is a bit more problematic. I think I drooled over every picture at least three times. I think I have to go with Blue Wren. It is subtle and shiny and perfect!

  123. czsknits says:
