giveaway #78

Let's start this giveaway off with a picture of the mystery giveaway:

TIGyarn

Awesome, right?! I told you that there would be ONE very lucky winner. And, the winner is:

Jen

Congratulations! Please contact me at yarnonthehouse@gmail.com to collect your prizes.

It's no secret that I love Stephen West's work. I've knit quite a few of his designs - especially his hat patterns for my hubby. Stephen is releasing his Westknits Book Three very shortly and he's done it again! The collection is cholk-full of beautiful, textured knitwear. Some of my favorites are: Bedrock, Moose River, Old Forge, and I'm loving the Sun Satchel.

But, my most favorite is the Dustland Hat and Mitts. I had the opportunity to knit up a Dustland Hat and it was such a pleasure. Fast, interesting, easy to follow with a fantastic FO at the end! I'm singing the same ol' song though. What can I say, Westknits is a keeper. Here are some pictures of my fabulous Dustland Hat:

Modeled by: Jane & Danny

We had (and, still have) a winter wonderland in Woodinville, so this photo shoot with my bro and his girlfriend turned out so cute. Aren't they just adorable?! Not to mention how great the hat is!! It looks just as wonderful on Jane as it does on Danny. I love the outcome. Originally I wanted to knit this hat for hubby, but I think he's going to have to fight me for it!

In addition to the fun Westknits Book Three giveaway, I have a terrific yarn sponsor for you this time around. Skein is our lovely and very gracious sponsor. I have not had the opportunity to knit with Skein yarns as of yet, but I plan on changing that very soon. Skein's colorways are so amazing! I've been stalking their site for the last few weeks trying to decide what I would like to order. Stephen used Skein to knit the Moose River cowl out of their Merino/Silk Worsted. Stunning, right?!

Skein has been kind enough to send over two skeins of Top Draw Socks in the Barley color for two lucky followers to have a chance to win…

Skeinyarnblog

Along with the yarn, the two followers will each win an e-book copy of Stephen's West Knits Book Three. Yay!

I would like you to do the following if you would like to be entered into this week's giveaway:

1. Read over the rules if you have not done so already.

2. Leave a comment on this blog post by the end of Sunday, 1/29/12. What's your favorite WK Book Three pattern? And, if you were me, which color would you order from Skein?

I'll randomly pick the winners in 2 weeks and post the results along with the new giveaway, so be sure to check back. Good luck everyone.

Sincerely,

Ve

I think you picked the best pattern in the book, but I'd love it in Skein's Sugar or Inkstone.

For the patterns I like either Old Forge or Longview.

Colors-wow. They're all so beautiful. I like Fig, Elderberry, Quill or Night Owl.

I've been really into stripes lately, so I'd have to say Wedgewood. As for a color, I'd go with Blush, although I don't think that there is a single color that is not absolutely gorgeous.

Lovely yarn and patterns! If I had to choose just one, it would be the Dustland hat in the Blueprint colorway.

I like the Seaway hat, and knit up in the pretty green of Midlands would be so nice!

I love the design of Old Forge, but to be honest, I'm not sure that I seem myself actually knitting it. I would LOVE to make a Bedrock, though!

I normally hate when I'm asked to pick out a favorite colorway in a yarn line- there are so many wonderful ones! However, this time an extra-awesome one really caught my eye right away- Quill. The blues with the subtle purple tones are amazing.

Oh my gosh - how do you choose a color from all that beautiful yarn?! I have 10 favorites just in the semi-solids! Semi-solids are more versatile when knitting, but the variegated are so alluring! :) I'd probably go with Thistle or Blush, which are a little outside of my normal colors but so pretty!

My favorite pattern from book 3 is Thendara, but I also love the mitts, and Old Forge.

Moose river in the color drift! Thanks for an awesome giveaway as usual.

I keep going back & forth between Moose River & Bedrock...If I can only select one, I'd have to say Bedrock. Fig is your color.

Wow! Beautiful colors! I can't choose between Sunlight and Envy.

I'm loving Old Forge and the colorway Sterling! Like, really loving them...

I thought Daisy or Midlands, at first, but then I saw Ghost Gum. Holy crap, is Ghost Gum ever beautiful! I'd choose that. But I could easily choose 15 more.

As for Westknits book 3, I've been stalking Wedgewood for AGES. Can't wait to knit it up! GORGEOUS!

I love Stephen West's designs and have knitted 4 of his patterns already. Clockwork is a favorite of mine, so I am really anxious to knit the Thendara wrap/scarf. The website for Skein was not letting me look at the colors available today.....but I would lean towards browns and greys with probably a 'punch' bit of apple green thrown in.

I love Moose River. It's very difficult to pick just one colorway but I do like Spring

coperI would love to make Old Forge. The color yarn I love is Hush, but it is really hard to decide because they are all so beautiful. I have always wanted to make a circular shawl.

Definitely Bedrock in the color Cocoa!

Dustland Hat is actually my favorite. As far as what yarn you (or I) should get, I'd say Elderberry if you were going for a semi-solid, and Dolce if you're going variegated.

Love the book, especially the Dustland hat. The Skein colours are gorgeous. I would go for the quill, organic or sterling. Beautiful!
