I would like you to do the following if you would like to be entered into this week's giveaway:

1. Read over the rules if you have not done so already.

2. Leave a comment on this blog post by the end of Sunday, 1/27/13. How many projects do you have on the needles right now? Be honest. Are you like Stephen and me with lots of things going at once? Or, are you the start one and finish it before moving on kind of knitters?

I'll randomly pick the winners in 2 weeks and post the results along with the new giveaway, so be sure to check back. Good luck everyone.

Oh.. I have two things on the needles, a scarf for the boyfriend that is tiny yarn, on tiny needles and sooooo very disheartening and the second mitten of a mitten and scarf set. I TRY to finish one thing, before I start on another. However, I think I work on my stash, enlarging it that is, every day.

Kamigaeru said...

Soooo many things on needles... a sweater that I started a couple of years ago, a rug out some hideous yarn I didn't know what else to do with, a throw blanket for the couch, and a shawl for a friend that might have been a Christmas present? Something like that. But I did just finish a couple of hats! Yay for small projects!

I currently have 3, a cardigan, a very long scarf, and a washcloth. I also have 2 that I need to frog.

I have uhh.. 3 projects on needles another fixing to be on the needles soon. Another project on a hook. And bags of almost finished projects that just need a little extra finishing (ie sewing the blocks together for 2 blankets are the largest waiting projects)

InJuneau said...

One scarf that's prob. been on the needles since July 2010! One sweater not exactly on the needles but not done because all the pieces are done but I need to seam it. I think that's it.

I only have one!

Unknown said...

I have 2 projects on the needles now, which is actually out of the ordinary for me. I usually only have one, or I go crazy, but I had a long flight recently and started a pair of socks, which was a lot more portable than the afghan I had on the needles at the time!

ikkinlala said...

Ravelry says I have eleven, most of which I do hope to finish someday but a couple of which I've given up on and intend to frog when I get a chance. I think there's also a dish cloth or two that I haven't bothered to list on Ravelry.

I think I have 5 projects on the needles right now. A couple of small projects and a couple of big ones.

knittingcolleen said...

I am embarrassed to say that I have 4 projects in different stages. One scarf (boring pattern), one Debi Birkin rabbit (cute pattern), one afghan (that's been my nemesis for one year) and one top (that is very complicated and I need to have quiet time to finish).

i have only one project on my needles at the moment. Having just finished all of my holiday knitting [some of it very late] i have decided to clean house. i am making the garter squish blanket by mr. west. its a wonderful way to play with texture and color and not really have to focus. after 3 months of socks, sweaters, mittens, hats, cables, intarisa, and visiting every yarn store in the city, im glad to have only one project going. simple garter blanket made from the scraps of everyone's holiday projects. it's almost a trophy of all the completed projects from this fall. also like my own kind of knitcation.

16!!! That's crazy, right? My goal for the beginning of 2013 is to get rid of all this nonsense and get below 5. I think 5 is an acceptable number. Luckily most of them are small things, so it's OK.

Currently I only have one project going: the Bigger on the Inside shawl. I am going to a Doctor Who convention in Feb. and want to wear it there.

I only have one thing on the needles right now! An enormous, entirely stockinette stitch sweater for my brother. It's pretty boring. Normally I have multiple projects going at once, but I just want to get this sweater done as quickly as possible.

I currently have 3 projects on the needles ... a pink spring sweater, the Noro Shevron Pullover!!!!, and a pair of socks -- but I am knitting both at the same time so is that 4 projects? I shift from project to project as the mood strikes!
Thank you.

I usually have two to four projects going at one time... right now I have a scarf on the needles that I don't need to finish (gift for fall) and a sweater... I haven't knit many sweaters so it's a daunting task... have a headband and cowl I also want to cast on but need to work on the sweater..... Thanks for the chance to win - off to watch the interview!!! ( : Stephanie (indigodogmt on Rav)

I currently have nothing going. I recently moved and had to leave all my knitting stuff at our other home-out of state until spring when my honey will make a trip to get the second load. Looking at all the beautiful yarn in the giveaway photo makes my fingers itch! Can't wait to get my needles and yarn stash.

Are there "start one and finish it before moving on" knitters? So not me for sure!

Currently, I have 3 projects on my needles, and that doesn't include the 2 that just need 'finishing.' Also, 4 more post-swatch but pre-CO.

Oh! There's also the 3+ projects I promised myself I wouldn't start 'til I finished at least 2 gift-knits (not Christmas, but still late).

I also have a hibernating advent scarf from 2011 I really should finish.

Toadstool Knittery said...

How many projects? Hmm well I have to dive into my WIP-basket and count first... at the moment it is 6 projects but that is really due to me pulling myself together and finishing stuff lately. Usually I have more WIPs on the needles. And all the time already dreaming of more projects to cast on.
It's not even only knitting, I am the same with cross-stitching, so many WIPs...but don't tell anyone =)

Thank you for a chance to win the lovely giveaway!
Kind regards,

Maike (ToadstoolKnittery on Ravelry)

I have 16 projects on the needles. I've always been a multiple project kind of person, but things have gotten out of hand in the last few months since I started test knitting. Especially for the sock tests that only require 1 sock to complete the test. Between that, KALs, gifts, and my own personal knitting, the WIPS have kinda exploded.

Lets see, I have 2 hats on needles, 1 dishcloth, 1 sweater, 1 baby dress, 1 baby sweater, a scarf, a stocking, your rejoice leggings eeeeeek, too many things!

I am seriously drooling over the Skein, TIG and Quince yarns. Wipes up keyboard.

Lets see at the moment I have three projects going, two are knitting (although one of them is a very small project and I will finish it as soon as I'm done playing around on my computer) The other is a spinning project on my spindle that I really really must get back to as I only have an ounce and a half left to spin for it to be complete lol.

TK said...

I typically knit one thing at a time, with ongoing travel knitting at the ready. I've got three things on the needles right now: my current project, a mystery kal project, and puffs of the beekeeper's quilt (which is my travel knitting and therefore going to take forever to complete).

Turtle said...

I have 4 on needles... maybe 5, just thought of another! But i also have 5 quilts and a couple dresses as well as a beading project and 3 pairs flannel pj's.... Did i mention the rooms we are painting? Lol... just keeping busy, but never enough projects right?

Good morning (well, its morning for me in Mumbai ;-))
I must say, I LOVE your house rules.. esp the first rule ! :-)
so just going by that, you sound like 'my' sort of person - up front, no nonsense, say what you mean and get along with life - sort of person. so yaay!
I've just completed a quick 'brick' infinity scarf yesterday, and am 'planning' on starting a wingspan today.. but for NOW, i'm "fingerloose, hookloose and fancyfree" (hahaha)
Not sure if I 'qualify' for a freebie, and as I am a 'newbie' on this page, not sure about anything anyway..

but I am glad that I chanced on this page..

You have a brilliant weekend too.

Gee, now I'm feeling a bit guilty. I think that I need to set to work wrapping a few of those up....Naahhh ;)

I'm doing pretty good with W.I.P.s right now. I'm finishing the borders on a baby blanket, and then I'm going to finish up a pair of colorwork fingerless mitts I started before Christmas projects got in the way. It's a new year, and I have a growing list of project ideas I'd love to start once I finish my current ones.

brsmaryland said...

Fun videos!
I took an inventory at the start of the new year and have 12 projects (of various sizes) on my needles. Haven't finished any of them yet but have since cast on and completed about 4 hats!

kaitward said...

i am constantly casting on new things. i currently have at least 7 different projects in progress. it's rare that i actually finish anything, so rare, in fact, that i have a casting-off phobia. but i am trying to get rid of this horrible habit and have recently cast off two hats so I'M MOVING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION!

I have two projects on the needles and two other projects to weave in ends and/or felt!!! Why I keep putting it off I will never know! One is an adorable dumpling bag that I would love to carry...if it ever gets don! The other is a fabulous shawl....it just seems to be taking soooo long!

Unknown said...

I have at least three projects "in progress" at the moment. One is a pair of mittens which are waiting for colder weather to be completed (it's summer where I am!), one is a cardigan I just started, and the third is a project that's been languishing in the WIP pile for over a year! Although all the component pieces are completed, it's the assembly that's put me off completing it for so long.

at least 4 - i often lose count *sheepish* though i did get two projects off needles this week! with the flurry of "finishing," though, came a flurry of adding new items to my ravelry queue ;-)

I have 2 projects actively on the needles - a cowl for my mom that should be done pretty quickly, and a pair of socks that I started as vacation knitting.

Of course, I said "actively"... in terms of hibernating patterns, I have 2 lace shawls, a top, a scarf, and a sweater in varying levels of completeness. Most of these have been sitting around for years (one of the shawls was supposed to be for my wedding... 2.5 years ago) so it's ok to not count them, right?

barb said...

I currently have 3 projects "on the needles", a little puppy, a kitten, and a queen size hexagon afghan. I will be working on the afghan until I am old and grey. The puppy should be finished in 2 days and the kitten was lost in the bottom of an old knitting bag. Just found it. This weekend I made 3 scarves. That was fun.

I've got two projects going right now. I usually have more, but I kind of haven't really knit anything in about a year (a lot going on in the last 12 months that got in the way), so I'm easing back into it with a shawlette and a simple cable throw that I need to buy new needles for thanks to my gauge being too tight.

Nina said...

I usually have three projects on the needles - one big, slow, mindless project (a log cabin blanket, at the moment), something for me (a Snowflakes Sweater from Tin Can Knits) and something for someone else (ring bearers' cushions for my sister's wedding). Not too daunting, and plenty to keep me occupied!

PenCraft said...

I generally only knit one project at a time. But right now, I have four!!! One is a pair of socks that only go with when I travel and one is a sweater vest that I am debating whether to frog and start over. The other two are in sweaters in progress and will be finished soon.

I have 2 projects on my needles. a tunic which i started a couple of days ago -and to be honest i think it'll take me forever to finish since i'm using fingering weight yarn for it- and a pair of socks. actually i've knitted one sock and i'm tempted with it's pair, because the first one didn't turn out as i thought it would. the yarn colour-pattern combination didn't impress me that much and now i'm just delaying the second sock's cast on!!

Sarah said...

I have have three projects on my needles: a fingering weight shawlette, an aran weight shawl and a Beekeeper's Quilt. I usually try to have one big project, and one small snack-size project going so I can get the thrill of finishing a project while working on one that never seems to end!

terrylynn2 said...

Seriously, I only have one project on the needles right now...a second Ravi. This is a little unusual because I typically have 3-4 on the go. However, the night is young and you never know...

I have 5 projects going on right now. One I started in 2009 when I was pregnant with my first child. I will finish it one of these days I swear.

karen alho said...

I usually have four or five accumulated projects on the needles ( I'm not talking about the ufo's from 15 years ago- although some of the count have been sitting for a year!)THen I get on my righteous hobby horse and select one that I decide I have to finish. So, instead of picking up something else when I don't feel like working on "the" project I don't knit. Such strange obsessions sometimes!

alyclaire said...

I honestly only have one project on my needles right now. Being a student doesn't give me the most time to knit, so I try to keep my projects at a minimum so that it doesnt take me super long to finish them!

Oh boy... I have five projects on the needles right now (plus one sweater waiting for buttons - but off the needles at least). One is a sweater that I promised to my SO, but got bored with and have left it lingering for...several years. I know, bad me. The others are a scarf for a friend, mittens for one of my kids, socks for my dad, and a hat for my SO. I'm currently mostly going back and forth between the socks and the hat. But my plan is to get all of those projects done sooner than later - even the blasted sweater!

I actually have 11 projects on the needles right now: 4 sweaters, 1 pair of socks, 1 beret, 1 scarf, 1 wrap, 1 lace shawl, 1 market bag, and 1 baby blanket. I recently finished a pair of fingerless gloves and an afghan (52" x 75"), so I technically began 2013 with 13 projects on the needles. Some of these projects are, however, designs that I am working on for various companies and some are products for my Etsy shop, so don't get the idea that I am one of those knitters who never finishes anything. ;)

2 gift projects on the needles - a scarf for my son, and a shawl for my Mother in Law. On-deck are shawls for my son's & daughter's amazing teachers.

Okay if you count the ripped up and I'm in the process of putting it back on the needles - I'm at 8 - yess I seem to have yarn ADD and little or no skill. I find it calming - so now I have till April to make and complete something for a new baby. All yarn is loved and appreciated!

Thanks for the interview with Stephen. Very fun!
