giveaway #31

Two of the winners of the All for Love of Yarn giveaway were chosen by Angela herself and judged on their childhood disaster stories. Here's what Angela had to say:

Thank you all for submitting your great comments with such enthusiasm. You made me laugh, say oh no!, empathize, and read in disbelief that some of these things actually happened! It was a joy to read them all, from spiders to pigs, to broken bones, and bad hair cuts! It was really hard to chose only two of them! Thank you Ve, for giving me this opportunity to be featured on your lovely blog; I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment! ~ Angela

The two winners that were chosen by Angela are:

Lil Bean who wrote, "Lovely yarn! I'm drooling over my keyboard...

I had many childhood disasters (in fact, they still happen regularly) because I was (am) accident prone.

There was the time I was chopping kindling when I was 8 while camping - chopped off the side of my thumb and had to be rushed to the hospital an hour away...

Probably the worst/funniest was when I was 7 years old. I was fascinated by fire! I managed to find a package of matches somewhere. Went into my room, shut the door, and proceeded to teach myself to strike matches. I was smart enough to do it above my trash can, but panicked when a scrap of paper lit in the can. I picked up the trash can, then dropped it, and the burning paper fell onto the carpet. I started to scream and my mom came in to see me stomping madly on smoldering carpet. Try to explain why I had started a fire in my room and melted the carpet... I never lived that one down."

&

BeckyM/Georgia that said, "Wow, some of you all must have lived in my neighborhood. :D Let me see - one event - well . . . we were on our way to school one day and we had picked some flowers for our teachers. This was my Mom, my brother and me. I yelled - because there was a frog on my flower - my Mom slammed on brakes - the door flew open and my brother fell out. Mom ran over his leg (NOT ON PURPOSE) as the car rolled forward - breaking his leg. A week later - he is in a cast - I brought home the chickenpox from school and gave them to him - under his cast. Me, I was in trouble!"

Now, the two other winners were chosen randomly and here are those winners:

Hi, everyone! Well, it's been a busy summer to say the least in the Jobe household. We've had some wonderful guests on the blog and I have more fun coming your way this Fall. I love Summer, but I have to admit that Fall is my favorite season and I don't think I'm the only one that feels that way. Recently, I've been reading on all my favorite blogs how everyone is excited for the cooler season to show up. And, I'm right there with them! I don't love Fall for just it's cooler weather though - I also love Fall because my birthday is in October! This year my husband has arranged for my friends and family to go to Leavenworth, which is an adorable little German themed town a few hours east of Seattle over the mountains. This year my birthday actually lands on the last day of the Oktoberfest celebration they have there every year. For those of you who don't know, I was originally born in Czech Republic and for a short period of time, during our immigration, my parents and I lived near Munich when I was very little. We still have friends that live there and whenever I get a chance to visit, I love spending time in Germany. I was lucky enough to spend my eighteenth birthday (which of course was only a few years back, HAHAHA! Not really, but don't I wish?!) with my friends in Germany and I got the chance to go to the real Oktoberfest and it was quite an experience! So, I'm pretty excited to do the next best thing this year and have some German beer on my birthday at my favorite little German town in Washington.

So, speaking of cooler weather coming and Fall, I have a wonderful sponsor for you this week. Her name is Nancy Ricci and she's a knitwear designer who runs a popular site called: Getting Purly With It. I've mentioned Nancy before and her fun Poppy Flower pattern and her Poppies of Endearment Project in a previous podcast. That's actually how Nancy and I got in contact originally. She gave away a couple of her Poppy Flower patterns on that show.

Nancy has a fabulous array of accessory knitting patterns that she has designed. A couple of my favorites are the Sally Hat and Gloves. Nancy was sweet enough to send me a copy of both as a thank you gift and I definitely plan on knitting that set in the very near future. I even love the creme colored Blue Sky Alpacas Suri Merino yarn the original is knitted up in. It looks like the perfect Fall/Winter set I can have on hand to wear when it's chilly outside. I'll be sure to share my projects with you once I get a chance to knit them up. My knitting queue seems to be getting longer and longer these days!

Well, Nancy's done it again and designed another great pattern and this time it's a freebie!! Yay! I love when designers offer free patterns. It allows everyone a chance to knit their fun designs, but I also like being able to see the designer's pattern writing style. Not all patterns are made alike and having free patterns like this offered gives me a chance to check out the designer without having to shell out money right away. The new pattern is called Lana Gloves. They are fingerless knit gloves that feature a stunning feather and fan stitch pattern. Check these beauties out:

I just cast on for these gloves this past weekend and I finished them today! They were so fast, they pratically knit themselves. I love that they look much more complicated than they actually are. Don't get me wrong. I do like a challenge when I'm knitting, but sometimes it's nice to be able to cast on a project and have it completed in just a couple of nights of relaxing no-brain knitting. This is also a fantastic project for a beginning knitters, in my opinion. The knitter just needs to know how to cast-on, knit, purl, knit front back, ssk, k2tog and cast off. There's not a lot of shaping and the gloves are knit flat and then seamed up the sides while leaving a hole for the thumb to go through. Simple, right? Take a look at my first finished glove I photographed this weekend to share with you:

The pattern calls for only 160 yds of worsted weight yarn. Nancy knitted hers up in the gorgeous Cascade Venezia yarn and I had that cool bright green skein of Cascade 220 that I used for my pair of gloves. I have not had the chance to knit with Venezia yet; however, I have felt and fondled it and I must say it looks delicious. It's 70% merino wool and 30% silk. Merino and silk blended together is one of my favorite combinations. I'll definitely have to purchase some of this yarn for myself soon.

Nancy also recently discussed her muse for this project and shared some pictures on her site. These gloves make a perfect gift, I think. I'm pretty sure I will be knitting up a couple more pairs of these before the holidays this year. They're quick, will fit almost anyone, and they look like a million bucks! I highly recommend this pattern even to you experienced knitters out there. Not everything we know-it-all's knit up has to be complicated, ya know?! And, the pattern is free so everyone can knit it! Yay!

Nancy is sponsoring this week's giveaway with two skeins of beautiful Cascade Venezia yarn for two lucky followers to have a chance to win. One skein is black (my favorite color by the way) and the other one is a fun deep teal color. Look at the lovely, alluring skeins of merino and silk goodness...

I would like you to do the following if you would like to be entered into this week's giveaway:

1. Read over the rules if you have not done so already.

2. Leave a comment on this blog post by the end of Sunday, 9/5/10. With me talking about my favorite color and season this time, why don't you all leave a comment telling us what your favorite color and season is.

I'll randomly pick the winners on Sunday and post the results on Monday along with the new giveaway, so be sure to check back. Good luck everyone.

Sincerely,

Ve

I have several favourite colours, I love peacock, purple and burgundy. My favourite season is spring, things are warming up, the flies aren't too bad and some beautiful things are happening in the garden; especially the narcissi.

Anett Kiefer said...

Although I like a lot of colours my favourite one this year is grey (dark or light) and my favourite season is autumn. I like the foggy days, the falling leaves (although it means a lot of work in the garden) and their colours and even the wind. Knitting is much more fun then.

Anonymous said...

My favorite season is winter - where I can get to wear and flaunt my handknits. Favorite color? It keeps changing and right now it is sky blue - pleasant and refreshing.

Kayla said...

I love autumn - I like this season with fallen leaves and beautiful sky. My favorite colors are yelow and green.

Beth said...

My favorite season is Fall, and my favorite color is blue...all the shades of blue.

kmvdvm said...

favorite season is autumn - tho the dwindling daylight hours make me sad, i can't deny the changing leaves, the crisp days, the return of warm, hearty foods that have been too warm and heavy to eat all summer. favorite color depends on what it's for, but slate grey probably takes the cake...

Well lately it has been pink and summer, but perhaps I am being influenced by my 4 year old daughter. I used to be all over dark reds and autumn!

Anonymous said...

Winter is definitely my favorite season and periwinkle is my favorite color!

My current favorite color is purple, deep, dark, mysterious purple. I'm a spring and fall girl. Give me temperate temperatures and flowers and falling leaves any day over the extremes of winter and summer.

Carisa said...

My favorite season is spring! I love warming temps and the possibility of summer. My favorite color is orange.

Oh, I love those gloves. I must knite a pair now too! My favourite colour is blue -- any shade! And my favourite season is Fall (aren't Fall knits the best?)

the yarn pattern is stunning.

I love yellow. It makes me happy :) And my favorite season would have to be autumn. I love the cool, crisp air in the mornings and the amazing display of color on the trees.

It's a toss up between autumn and spring. Both are such a relief after summer and winter. Now that I'm in the midwest, I really miss the vibrant colors of fall in new england, but spring here is lovely.

I love green. But I'm crazy about most cool violets, blues and reds too.

Lori said...

Fall is my favorite season, by far. As an 8th generation Texan, I thought robins and trees that turned colors were the stuff of fiction, made-up for children's books. Then I moved to Connecticut, where the falls colors were so gorgeous I wanted to take my eyeballs out and roll them around in all that color.

I always say my favorite color is red, but if you look at my stash it's brown and green!

kikine78 said...

I have to say that toward the end of a season the upcoming season will be my new favourite season. thankfully I live in a 4-seasons country.

jennyleeknits said...

I'm just the opposite. I like Fall but the Summer is my favorite cause my birthday, as well as my daughters birthday's, are in the summer/July. I downloaded the Lana Gloves pattern and these seem to be just the quick and easy pattern I have been looking for. My Cascade Venezia is being used on another project so I will have to use a substitute. My favorite color is eggplant because it can look like black, brown, and purple all depending on what type of light source it is in.
Enjoyed reading your blog!

pigbook1 said...

Autumn, probably because I live in New England. Teal is my favorite color to wear, but in general my favorite color is eggplant

Kel said...

My favorite colors are brown, gray, green and a golden yellow. I love Autumn because of the food, the holidays, the foliage and last but not least my anniversery with my fiance. I love to knit, and cannot wait to wear the warm cozy scarves and gloves of fall!

Favorite season? Summer, hands down. Favorite color(s) - ummm... pretty much all of them! :) Seriously, though - anything jewel toned and I'm a goner... Blue is my absolute favorite, umm... well, maybe it's green... or purple... maybe pink... Yeah - hard to decide!

JoAnnaJae said...

I like the late spring and early fall when you can wear both pants and a tank top and be comfortable. I am currently on a purple bent (my usual favorite is turquoise, though), meaning the tank top would definitely have to be purple.

Mim said...

Fall is my favorite time. I love the cool crisp air, the leaves changing, etc. My favorite colors are fall colors. I'm a redhead and those colors look best on me. My fav is rusty orange.

Erin B said...

Fall is my favourite time. I love fires, warm drinks and the bright fall sun.

My favourite colour? Well it seems to be whatever I haven't recently knit with!

Emily said...

There's something wonderful about both fall and spring, but I think that spring is my favorite, in part because I love all the variations of the color green that start to appear everywhere.

Jennifer said...

Autumn all the way. My birthday is in October also, and that's part of it. But mostly, I just love the cooler weather, the crispness in the air, sitting around outdoor fires, changing leaves...

My favorite colors are autumnal also. Rich greens, reds, oranges, browns, golds.

Allison von Berg said...

My favorite season is fall...I love the fall leaf colors! I've just bought 2 balls of Plymouth tweed in brown with slubs of orange, yellow, and red. I'm going to make a fall beret and a felt fall leaf pin to wear with it!

Julia said...

My favorite season is the fall. I like the way it smells, the colors of the season, and I love a light sweater. As such, I tend to enjoy the fall pallete of colors i.e., cranberry, greens, browns, oranges

StaceyKnitsIt said...

My favorite color is yellow green.
I think Fall is my favorite season and I love Fall colors.

aanderson said...

Fall is my favorite season - cool temps and lovely colors. My favorite color is yellow followed by orange.

Hi, those sure do look yummy. My favorite colors seem to be teal, and a Cinnamony orange color. I don't know why I'm so attracted to that color this year but I am. My favorite season is Fall because I live in the North and its not to hot nor to cold. I can wear my favorite light weight sweaters outside and there are TONS of colors with all the leaves changing colors. And lets not forget Halloween. :D

Gorgeous Mitts! I'm definitely casting on for those this week. Spring/Summer have always been my favorite seasons. I love the warmth, being able to go outside @ random w/out having to bundle up, all the green growing things.
But this year I am really looking forward to fall/winter. Crisp autumn leaves in a riot of color, hot apple cider, curling up by a fire to knit, snow falling gently outside the window, Christmas...
Oh yes, favorite colors, Red, Green, Turquoise, and Chocolate Brown.

CrazyYarnHarlot said...

My favorite color is green. My favorite season, well, its hard for me to narrow it down. I love the spring, all the flowers and colors and the weather is finally warming up, but I love the fall too. Again, the colors are bursting, the weather is again mild, the smells, the holidays are looming, and its time to start thinkin about pulling out the handknits again :)

Fall! Only because I live in AZ and we don't get too see many colors changing. I also love the beautiful oranges and golds of Fall!

Rae Lynne said...

Blues of almost every shade, especially the blue-greens like teal and turquoise. :)

My favorite season is Fall, when the leaves are changing colors and the air is crisp (and a bit dusty from all the crunchy falling leaves). Although, Spring holds a close second, with everything blooming and the sun starting to warm the cold. :)

ACraftyKnitter said...

My favorite colors are blue, turquoise, and purple. My favorite season is fall, by process of elimination- winter is too cold, summer is too hot, and I get too sneezy in spring!

Blendab1 said...

I have a few favorite colors. I adore shappire or cobalt blue, sage greens and purples. Whenever I see these colors a smile appears on my face :)
My favorite season is summer as it brings such a calm to me. I love to go to the beach as it's my prozac and just relaxes me and removes stress like nothing else I have been able to find. I am already feeling sad that the summer season is almost over but at least I have my tan to remind how great a summer this one was!

Rebecca Swan said...

(Can it be my birthday present?) I normally say summer, but we get to it and I long for the milder temps of spring and fall. But every time the seasons change there is so much beauty and newness to wonder over, that how can I pick just one? I'm the same with colors - but I'll definitely take jewel colors anyday - emerald, ruby, deep violet. Maybe I should just steal a peacock's feathers and wear those, my, wouldn't the hubby love that!!

kristyh1981 said...

My favorite colors are blue and purple. Pretty much any shade of those two though I do gravitate to the more jewel tones. Spring and fall more or less tie as my favorite seasons. I love the rebirth of the spring but fall has Halloween! Halloween is also my wedding anniversary so that makes it extra special!

LOVE Cascade Venezia. I'm getting ready to knit a hat out of it for my sister in law. Maybe she'll get lucky and get a pair of fingerless mitts too. :)

Always drawn toward greens and blues, and really anything besides winter!

Christine said...

My favorite color seems to be changing as I get older, but right now it's a mustard type....and then purple will always make my heart go pitter patter. I LOVE fall.....I get so energetic (as summer is my least favorite season) and the air in Michigan smells so great. Apples!

Michelle said...

My favorite is spring. I hate cold weather so it is such a joy when it finally warms up. Spring is also when the orange trees come into bloom, and the scent is so intoxicating. Plus my birthday is in April. =P

As for colors, I'm most drawn to blues and greens.

Kristina said...

I love that pattern! Thanks for sharing it, I'll be casting on this weekend.

My favorite season is summer, but my favorite knitting season is tournament season. My entire family of 5 competes at tae kwon do tournaments. This means that I have plenty of knitting time!

I haven't been able to find a favorite color. My favorite personal colors are crimson and indigo, but I love variegated yarns for knitting, and really, I love them all!

Megan said...

Not being a big fan of humidity, I love the crispness of the air in the Fall. My favorite food is apples, so I love the Fall because it is apple season as well. My favorite colors are bright blues.

Summer is definitely my favorite season. One that is WAY to short here in the midwest. As for favorite colors, I tend to be attracted to rich plums, blues, and greens.

My favorite season is Fall. In the Pacific NW its nice after a hot summer to still get out in the yard without putting SPF 50 on. My favorite color has to be purple but really love all the jewel tones. I have to be so careful when buying yarn because I almost always gravitate to those colors...and I have a lot of them already!

Anonymous said...

I love purple most of all, but red and orange are gaining ground! My favorite season is whichever one is next, so right now? Fall.

sharmylae said...

those mitts are awesome! my love for dpns is so strong that i usually skip over patterns for gloves knit flat, but i love these so much they're going into my favourites! :)

my favourite colour is green. always. without a doubt. my favourite season is fall, though, where green starts to fade... but my favourite thing is orange, yellow and red leaves on green grass. it's beautiful!

Denise said...

Loved reading your post today, my birthday also falls in October I was actually 18 on the 18th... but that was MANY years ago too ;) I used to think I loved Summer, but that was when I lived in England and we rarely got a very hot day, but now I live in TX and the summer heat is just cruel this month, so my fav season is now Fall, I long for the cool crisp mornings, with bright blue skies. My favorite color is pink, but during Fall of course it's Orange, and all of those other beautiful Autumn colors, like golds and greens and browns.
Congrats to the winners from last week.

MelissaH said...

My favourite time of the year is early fall. Not quite the end of summer not quite fall yet. I get to benafit from all the goodies in my garden and finally start puting some of my knitted garments to use. I love when the leaves change color, before they fall. That's a whole new pain in the ___. Because of this my fav colors are mostly fall themed. Orange, Greens, Browns, and to throw in some winter colors black, blues.

mommieof4munchkins said...

My favorite color of all time is green, in any shade. I would have to say that fall is my favorite season as well. I love me some pumpkin flavored yumminess!! And the warm soups and teas are a plus also.

My favorite colors are red and green, but NOT at the same time, which makes Christmas a little interesting. My favorite season is summer... I HATE being cold! Maybe that's why I knit so many sweaters!

too many favorites but black and bright colors (vibrant blues, greens, reds, pinks..) make the top of the list.
favorite season is summer but being from finland, i love to have different seasons.. so at the end of the summer, i'm definitely ready for fall! here in northern central ca we do get some seasons but there is still a long way to go until "real" fall season begins.

Mmmmmm beautiful yarn!!! My favorite colour is, and always has been blue. :) And that scrumtious teal counts! I used to volunteer in a friend's yarn shop and she commented once that it was a good thing I didn't do the ordering, or the shop would carry only blue yarns! Yes, it is that bad. :) samm@ravelry

my favorite season would have to be fall. all the leaves changing so many colors, and the brisk air. apple picking and cider, hay rides, pumpkins. there are really too many amazing things about Autumn. my favorite color is turquoise. i love all sorts of blues, but turquoise reminds me of my gramma's jewelry.

The favourite season is easy: fall! The favourite colour changes - I love greens, the lovely deep blue of a glass bottle, goldish yellows, burgundy.

I love fall. There is something so exciting about that season. Love fall colors too, the greens and golds with the bright blue sky.

sacha said...

I have been pulled to the purple this season- which is weird b/c it is not a favorite- but there is a "thistle" colorway that I have been eyeing.

Reikjavyk said...

Favorite color?? Hmmm... It seems I don't have one. But I do have a favorite season: fall. The colors of trees, sky, not-so-hot sun... I just love it!

Avila said...

I love purple. I love the light purples that have touches of blue, through to the dark dusty purples and deep plums. My favorite season is a toss-up between Spring and Fall. I love the hope and new growth in Spring - we have long Winters and I love crossing the line when we won't get anymore snow for several months! Fall I love for those days when you can walk for miles and not feel sweaty and gross and can finally dig out the hats and sweaters that make you feel cozy. Also I have both my Birthday & Anniversary during Fall so it's more reason to celebrate :)

Liz said...

I love Fall, though it is an incredibly short season here. I love it when it's cool enough to wear a nice sweater, but before it's too cold to do anything. Teal is my new favorite color it seems (I have some how ended up with 5 teal shirts this summer). But some of the warm tones of fall are always tempting

Anonymous said...

I think blue-green, that teal like, sea shore type color is my favorite. Probably followed by black. And fall is my favorite season - when you can enjoy the last few days of warmth, all the new harvested foods at the farmers market, a chill in the air enough to wear new knits, and sometimes those first few snowflakes.

Fall/Autumn is by far my favorite season. I love when the leaves on our maple and other leafy trees start changing colour. It's almost breathtaking to go for a drive or a stroll in the park.

As for my colour, I love the colour pink, but teal is also a new favorite lately. There is special about teal.

As I was reading the comments in the last contest I thought the biggest childhood disaster was how many folks grew up without learning to count to five. That was what you said the entries must be: Five sentences or less. Then a winner is picked with no regard that limit. Maybe all our stories would have been better if we'd broken the rules to tell them.

Oh my gosh, this pattern is beautiful! Fall is my very favorite season. I love the colors, the harvest festivals, the crispness in the air, the spices, Halloween... basically everything. I currently live in NorCal where fall isn't as grand, but this October my new hubby and I are having our wedding celebration back home in the Blue Ridge Mountains of VA. Cannot wait!
Oh yeah, I especially love the color of cranberry in the fall! :-)

I've always been a summer lover. Although now that I have to work all year round it's much less pronounced! I like the beginnings of seasons, when everything is new and exciting, more than the hanging-on last-gasps. And I just love color in general!

As with you, my favorite season is fall, the early-end-of-summer part of fall where it is still very warm and plants are working over time churning out the last of their summer produce and the air here smells warm and spicy. It brings my favorite mix of colors as well, browns and oranges mixed with blue skies and golden grass.

I'm really loving on blues and purples right now, but I always come back to green as my perennial favorite. As for the seasons, I love the autumn. Summers in the northwest are short and I cherish them, but there's nothing like a crisp fall day fading into a crisper fall evening. And does nature ever put on a show!

i have alway been a big fan of autumn. as a dark, black-clad, poetry-reading adolescent, i was pretty sure autumn is the most real of seasons.
i mellowed when i entered what they call middle age, but still love the autumn, its fog, colours and smell.
as for colours, i do not have one. i like certain colours for certain things. black for clothes. red for food. pink for dahlia. orange for the sky. and grey for certain fuzzy yarns. and have nothing against all the others:)

My favorite season is summer. Although we were given a scorcher this year, I can't help but think to my childhood years spent at the grandparent's cottage by and in the water. We shared many lazy afternoons just chatting and snacking and enjoying a whole lot of nothing. I still crave that during the summers. My favorite colors right now are neutrals, shades that are completely muted versions of browns, blues and grays. I can't get enough of them.

I love green. Any green will do, but I go for the food inspired greens like avacado, celery, olive, or kiwi. And it has to be summer. I guess I just don't get my fill of it here in Massachusetts.

Unknown said...

My favorite color is undeniably purple...it's hard not to choose it for every project I make. As or seasons, I really like summer for its feeling of freedom and opportunities to swim.

Samantha said...

Well wouldn't you know it, my favorite color is teal! I lean towards one with a little more green, but I love 'em all.

Shirley said...

My favorite color is blue, especially teal blue. My favorite season is summer, or actually early summer before it gets too hot and buggy.

jensimoneau said...

My favorite season has always been fall in New England. I love the warm sunny days and the crisp night air. I love the warm, natural hues that are associated with fall as well. Right now I am drawn to blues and greens in particular, but if you look in my stash there is a lot of wine or burgundy colors!

Eva said...

I LOVE the idea of fall. Alas, I live in Florida and we have two seasons. Hot, and not quite as hot. I love jewel tones, blues, greens, reds... and BRIGHT shocking pink.

Spikey said...

Burgundy is my favorite color and fall is my favorite season, burgundy leaves falling are gorgeous.

Kristy said...

I have several favorite colors (most in the green family) and they usually alternate through the different seasons. My favorite time of year is fall because I can get out the jeans and sweaters/cardigans. During the fall I gravitate towards the warm colors like burnt orange, reds and browns.

Chris said...

My favorite color is orange, followed quickly by a nice apple green. My favorite season is spring, when things begin coming back to life.

KnittySue said...

Although I love all the colors of fall I really love that brownish rust color that adorns so many trees around me, but mother nature has so many colors and shades on her palette that it's hard to truely pick just one.

Anonymous said...

Do I have to pick just ONE color? Argh...ok, I'm going to go the purple that you find in the purple/yellow pansies. That deep, velvety purple that just looks soft to the touch--definitely my favorite. And it's not a spring color, but spring is my favorite season--as the days are getting longer and warmer and everything is coming back to life in that beautiful spring green (see how I slipped another color in there? :-) ).

Casey F. said...

My favorite color is green. I'm not too picky about my greens, almost any will do. ;)

I love fall and not just because my birthday is in October. I love seeing the changing leaves and getting a break from the hot weather. Pumpkins and other autumn veggies are ripe and ready to be picked. *happy sigh* Yeah, I'm looking forward to fall right now. LOL.

Lael said...

I like both spring and fall - fall because it comes after hot, humid, buggy summers as is so refreshing and spring because that is lambing season! Favorite color? If I have to pick only one, I would say blue - in all shapes and forms. I also like peach, red, autumn tones, periwinkle . . .

Sirahal said...

My favourite colours vary, though I generally go towards reds and blues of any shade. Really like teals too!
When it comes to season, well, that's complicated - in summer I say I like winter (because summer's too hot, even though I love a good summer evening...), and in winter I say I like summer (because Winter's too cold, even though I love the snow, when we get it)! I guess you could say I really love Fall and Spring equally, because they're nicely in between.

Frankly Beka said...

My favorite season is Autumn. Especially right before winter, when all the leaves have fallen, but it's not yet cold enough to snow. As far as favorite colors go, I prefer a muted pallet. I enjoy layering medium to dark greys with deep chocolaty browns. My favorite greys are the ones hiding a hint of reddish purple. Adds a bit of heat to a normally cool color. Very cozy.

Gabriela said...

My favorite season is summer, I love the longer days and I like that it's more relaxed. We're not always rushing off to one of the kids' activities.

I don't have one favorite color, I like all sorts of colors but I especially love jewel tones.

Jean Ashley said...

My favorite season is probably Spring, with Fall coming in close second. I love them for the explosions of color. Utah winters seem to turn into long expanses of beigygray after Christmas and Summers in Utah, while initially green, quickly turn crackly brown. My favorite color family is blue, and if you could capture the color of twilight, or the bluesy underside of a thundercloud, that would be the shade :-)

Sursi said...

My favorite season is fall, though I'm not sure what my favorite color is. Maybe gray. I'd love to have that black yarn in the photo though.

Pavlina said...

It's hard to choose one color, so I picked two - brown and green. My favorite season is spring. It's so pretty when everything is 'waking up" after the winter - flowers and trees blooming, it's getting warmer and the sun comes out.

Phyllis said...

Fall is my favorite season. Although, I just love seasons in general. And my favorite colors are green and fall colors.

Paula Bannon said...

I'm currently all about purple - especially a nice, deep purple. My favorite season is autumn - perfect sweater weather! I can almost feel the crunchy leaves under my feet. :)

My favorite colors are blues and greens...any ocean color! This year our hydrangea had the perfect blue!

Green, especially when paired with brown and an autumny red. I love the look of autumn, but summer is definitely my favourite season - I love the warmth!

My favorite season is definitely the Fall - I love to take short trips upstate (NY) just so I can watch the leaves changing on all the trees that cover the countryside. I love the caramel scent of fireplaces burning mixed with the scent of crisp, cold air. It's also so quick you can barely enjoy it long enough before it's gone!
I've been really attracted to light and dark teals and olives this year, but my all-time favorite colors are black and dark red (burgundys, wines, etc.)

Connie said...

All of the colors of fall are my favorites and my favorite season is definitely autumn. For colors, let's start with reds, oranges, dark brown, olive green, etc., etc., etc. Also my birthday is in October -- in fact, I've heard that the best people are born in October.
I love Nancy's pattern! Thanks for sharing.

I actually have six favorite colors. Four to decorate with--Burgandy, blue, green and gold and two to wear--Blue and black. (Funny story, I was looking for a red shirt to wear during red ribbin week at my school and all I had was blue and black. I had to go buy a red shirt!) My favorite season is FALL! I love the change in colors of the foliage, the chilly weather that seems so crisp and fresh, the start of a new school year that just seems to open up possibilities, the opportunity to wear my knitwear! oh Fall, HELLO!!!

Jack said...

Because I'm so wishy-washy I tend to go for color blends because I can't pick just 1!! Can't wait to knit these -- they look lovely.

Unknown said...

No question about it, Fall is my favorite season! I love the Fall colors especially and it's hard to single out one specific hue - I love the mix of colors that resemble the changing leaves of Oak and Maple, the deep russets with subtle orange hue all the way through to the absolutely eye-popping yellow of the Maple's last hurrah before hibernation. Balance all of that off with deep piney greens and you'll see me making a beeline for it, every time!

Many thanks for the free fingerless mitts pattern. Winters in my house tend to be so cold that these are essential items along with sweaters and shawls for me, and so I am building up quite a queue of these patterns to make.

my favourite colour right now is a peachy apricot, not too washed out...(also lilacs, reds, and silvery blues :) and my favourite season is spring.

My favorite color would have to be blue. I can honestly say it is at the forefront of the few colors that I love every shade of. My favorite season, hands down, is winter. I just can't wait to put on boots, sweaters, and many layers. The cutest clothes are winter clothes, and there are so many opportunities to wear my beloved knits!

I think my favorite colors vary depending on the application. For instance, I'm trying to choose a new color for the guest room and it's all about yellows and greens...but for yarn, I gravitate to greens, blues and purples. Green appears to be the constant :) Spring is probably my favorite season, but I do love fall as well...just not so much the cold that comes after it.

What a beautiful pattern! My favorite season is fall, too. I love the blue sky above, with the gorgeous reds, oranges, and yellows of the leaves and prairie grasses. I also love the break from the heat of summer! My favorite color is blue, whether its a dark midnight, or a caribbean sea azure, or pacific ocean teal green---ahh, blue!

Tanzi said...

My favorite season is definitely fall! I live in the south, and it's just gorgeous here that time of year. The leaves are a million shades of red and orange and yellow, but it's still warm enough to be out in a heavy sweater or a light jacket, with a new hat and fingerless gloves, holding on to a cup of hot cider, watching a football game. I would say my favorite color is black, but the color I'm most drawn to is a jewel-toned dark blue, maybe what you would call peacock or maybe sapphire. It just makes me feel so relaxed.

I love winter! Fall too, but I think because it is what leads into winter. Blues are my favorite color.

I can never pick a single "favourite" season because I love them all! But I have a special love of mid-autumn; when the leaves are falling in a myriad of colours, the wind is brisk, and the air is crisp and cool, but the heavy storms and gloom of winter haven't yet set in.

That said, my favourite colours are not autumnal at all - every shade of blue, teal, and turquoise... black, red.

Allison said...

It's so hard for me to choose favorites! I love Fall because it always includes new beginnings, and I can never get enough of blue (slate, navy, sky, royal, all of it!).

I would have to say that my favorite season is Fall. I love the crispness in the air. My favorite color is purple, which doesn't really go with fall, but I make it work:-)

Autumn is my favorite season. The light is so beautiful, and I love the smell of wood smoke in the air. Plus, I get to go to the pumpkin patch! Purple is my favorite color--any shade of purple. Blues and greens are high up there, too.

Hands down, my favorite season is fall. I love the colors of fall. The burnt oranges, browns, reds. I am counting the days that I am going to the apple orchard to pick apples and buy cider and donuts.

My favorite season is without a doubt, winter. I love how calm and peaceful nature looks with a white blanket of snow all around. I even cherish those heavy snowfall days! But my favorite colour is not related to winter's wonderland. It's apple green. That colour is full of life and sharp with any other colour. But those lana gloves are defintetly on my list of things to do before the snow starts flying. Love love love them!

Warm, Robust, Earthy colours are my favorite. Black is always a confidence booster-impossible to feel like crap in black. And I also enjoy grey. Autumn is my best time of year-there is an aire of mystery, allure and excitement with every breath. It grabs onto one and lives in my soul all year-always.

i'm drawn toward bright colors (hot pinks, vibrant reds and purples) but when it comes to picking something to wear it's more muted, a lot of black now that i'm thinking about it.

my favorite season is winter. a good proper winter with snowmen and sledding and coming inside after your fingers and toes and nose get numb for hot chocolate and warm cookies.

Blue is my favorite color, which doesn't really give it any special treatment. It's not part of my home decor, nor a larger part of my wardrobe than any other color. I think it's ma favorite because I love seeing it in nature - skies, water, flowers. My favorite season is summer, because the skies are bluer.

I don't have a fvorite color. When I have a box of crayons, none are left unused, but I do prefer deep, rich shades.

Spring would be my favorite season, though each has something to special to recommend it.

My favorite color is green, the color of hope :) again growing up in Colombia we went trough periods of violence when hope was something you had to hold on to, I love green is a happy color!

And I love autumn.

I love spring most of all, that first day when you decide to go out wearing just a thin jacket and then realise you can walk about in just your t-shirt. I do enjoy autumn too though, when the leaves turn red and yellow and conkers fall from the trees. It's lovely to sit indoors and watch the rain outside.
I like autumn colours in general, but my favourite is purple.
