Giveaway #60! Woohoo! That's a nice round number, isn't it?! This giveaway I have two very lovely ladies to introduce to you: a very talented designer and an indie yarn dyer that creates some of the most beautiful yarn I've ever seen.
Let me introduce you to Stephannie Tallent. She is our lovely and very talented designer that is being featured this time.
Stephannie designs some beautiful knitwear and a lot of her work has been featured in knitting magazines and various publications. Here are some of my favorites:
- Kelpie: I think Stephannie designed these just for me!
- Ocotillo: such cute mittens that are part of an e-book that Stephannie published. There's something about true mittens that makes me cherish the craft of knitting.
- Zylphia Pilots Her Airship: a must knit for me! I LOVE the lace work and the feminine shaping of this sweater. I especially love DuchessOfYarnover's FO!
...which leads me to this giveaway's pattern feature: the Zylphia Cowl
How gorgeous is this cowl?! It uses the same lace pattern as the sweater and the sweet picot edgings make this cowl so romantic. It even looks nice on your feline friends...
And, I've found some of the most beautiful yarn to go along with this gorgeous cowl pattern! Meet Sunflower Yarns. Amanda Dahl is the very sweet and also very talented yarnie behind this brand, and boy-oh-boy can she dye up some drool worthy fiber goodness! Look at these fantastic colorways: Grass is Greener, Windward, and Silver Gray (which is the colorway that I want to knit up a Goodale sweater for myself in, whatcha think?).
Amanda has very generously sponsored two giveaway skeins of her Strafford sport weight yarn for two very lucky followers and she was so very sweet to send me a gift skein to keep all for myself!! Take a look at the gorgeous semi-solid goodness she sent over for us to enjoy:
BTW, I'm keeping the stunning Bing Cherries red skein at the bottom of the picture!
Along with a skein of Sunflower Yarns, the two winners will also receive a PDF copy of the Zylphia Cowl. That's just enough yarn and pattern to knit a beautiful Sunflower"y" Zylphia Cowl of your very own! Thank you, Stephannie and Amanda for being our wonderful sponsors!
I would like you to do the following if you would like to be entered into this week's giveaway:
1. Read over the rules if you have not done so already.
2. Leave a comment on this blog post by the end of Sunday, 5/22/11. I've been casting on and dreaming of knitted sweaters lately even with the sunshine peaking it's head out from time to time. Not sure why the warmer weather has spurred me to want to knit sweaters, but I hope I'm not wishing for summer to be over before it's begun! What about you? What are you dreaming of knitting in the next couple months?
I'll randomly pick the winners in 2 weeks and post the results along with the new giveaway, so be sure to check back. Good luck everyone.
Sincerely,
Ve

I also keep thinking of the first fleece-worth of handspun I have sitting and waiting ... I'm thinking that a coat seems like a very good idea for this time of year.

Scarves! Lots and lots of scarves! Weird, right?

I keep dreaming of knitting a nice, summer tank for myself. If only I had the figure to carry it well. I keep dreaming of having a great body too, but that's a different story.
I'm dreaming of cowls cowls and more cowls! And at least one blanket -- wha is up with us and the warm knits even though the temp is rising daily??
I too am on the lookout for a perfect sweater! And a girl can never have too many scarves, right?!
of course keep the bing cherries!! it's amazing!
oh, and I'm dreaming of knitting myself that racerback tanktop in the recent knitty. perfect for the summer!
I've been trying to find the perfect summer sweater- something lacy and lightweight. :)
Great giveaway! I would really like to finish one coat that I've start knitting long time ago :)
I have way to many WIPs on my needles, so what I really dream of is to get most of them done. And then afterwards get out some of my most cherished yarn and knit something just for me.
Socks! I want to knit socks. Specifically, Glenna C's "Staked" socks.
I'm hoping to tackle a few design projects for cooler weather gear...in the hopes of having some things ready before it starts warming up NEXT spring :)
I am dreaming of knitting socks and scarves - the pretty, lacy kind in gorgeous spring and summer colors.
I do still knit sweaters in the summer months - winter will be back eventually and the AC is always cranked up at work!
Right now I just wish I had time to knit at all. I'm in the middle of thesis hell, and cherish any moments I have to knit. If there were no restrictions, though, I would finish the shawl and the socks I have on the needles, and frog some old projects so I could re-purpose the yarn!
I'm dreaming of knitting mittens and hats, as Joanne says we're heading for winter and I have handspun yarn that's itching to be turned into hats. I'm also hoping that my son will earn his skull and crossbone mittens now that I've done the design work!

I bought a kit to make a Wispy Cardi a few months ago - I'm hoping to start it before we go out of town at the end of the month!
I am dreaming of beanies, mittens and cardigans.
Autumn here and I need to keep little heads and ears warm.
That yarn is beautiful, stunning!

I'm dreaming of shawls. Having done nothing in the way of a real shawl (I've done a super quick one on size us 11 needles with no details) I'm interested in trying something a little more fun. And socks. I love socks.
Cardigans! I'm not even halfway through my first one yet, which is also my first proper garment (I'm mostly a sock knitter), but I'm already waiting on the postman to bring me the yarn I ordered for the next one…
Dreaming of knitting... SHAWLS. And funny, sweaters too! I'll be moving to the coast soon and will needs lots of cardigans to keep the cold and fog out!
I'm dreaming of knitting some lacy little summer cardis. The sort of thing you wear when the air conditioning is a little too cool or in the evening when there is a bit of a breeze. Something delicate and summery. Those yarns in the basket seem to be just the right colours to inspire.
I'm currently working on a shrug and it's all I dream about. It's a beautiful lace, and I can't wait until it's complete!
I've been carefully planning out a light shawl for a while now, that's my dream. Also, mittens and gloves!
I'm currently working on socks and a blanket. I had really hoped the Mitered Crosses Blanket would be done by now but a pair of graduation socks pushed it out of the way. Once the weather gets warm it has to be a small project even then sometimes I can't stand to have the wool in my hands.
I'm with you on the sweater dreaming. We've had a really loooooong winter out here and so I'm not sure if my body is actually ready for spring just yet.
I'm dreaming of knitting my first garment - a cardigan. I'm saving it for our big vacation this summer. We're driving from Wisconsin to Jasper National Park in Canada - 28 hours one way!!!!
Me too with the sweaters! What is that about? I'm wanting to cast on lots of complicated stuff. I think I have a better attention span in the warm weather and I'm ready for challenges - like that gorgeous cowl!
I am dreaming of having enough knitting time to finish my first shawl project - I am loving the way it is working up and can't wait to finish it.
Well I've learned some lace (thanks to Caryl Style), been doing scarves since I started knitting in '09...so my next challenge I want to tackle is either a shirt/sweater (some type of clothing) or some cables.
I was really crossing my finger to win Freddie's Blanket! Did Joanna tell you about Phoebe Mouse being in Artful Blogging??
I am always ready to add more yarn to my stash! I'm dreaming of some baby knits and fingerless gloves...all gifts for people!
i'm dreaming of hats, fingerless gloves and scarves , in various colours for me and for my eleven year old daughter.
I'm actually *wanting* to finish a bunch of stuff!! Socks, scarves, and a skirt (yup, a knitted skirt) are top of the list.
I've been dreaming of socks, despite the fact that I need to be doing some serious baby knitting for a close friend.
I have a queue full of summer tops that I plan to start tackling once I finish the summer dress I'm currently working on.
Those are beautiful yarn colors.
I dreaming of knitting an afghan. have a couple in mind but have to decide on which one.
I have several projects in my queue. On my needles to start the summer are a cardigan, several pairs of socks, a shawl, and plans to knit some warm mittens for my niece that is going off to college in much colder climes than here:)
I'm dreaming of a lightweight, springy tee - I keep paging through Ravelry trying to find the perfect one!
Oh, that Windward colorway is lovely!
I've really been feeling hats lately, maybe because they're so quick? Get a lot done before it gets cold again!
I am knitting lightweight shawls at the moment, for myself and for gifts. I am dreaming of knitting up cozy comfy sweaters for the fall/winter tho... I guess it's never too early in the season to start.
I am dreaming of lots of scarves. Not the keep warm type, but more the fashion accessory type for my daughter. Some for "just because" gifts and some for Christmas gifts.
I want to make lots of cute skinny accessory scarves!

What yummy colors. I'd love to knit Stephanie's cowl.
I just bought a sweaters-worth of alpaca to knit Francis Revisited. I'm trying to finish up the summer knits for my kids first but I am so tempted to cast on!
The only thing I can work on between now and October are my wedding WIPs, so I've been fantasizing about CO new things! I'd love to start a new cardie, or some lacy socks. That cowl is awfully nice too...
What a pretty and feminine cowl pattern. It would look dreamy and sweet in that beautiful lavendar yarn.
I love Amanda! I'm glad you're featuring her!
I'm going to try to finish my first lace shawl this summer. I'd like to get it done for the county fair, but I don't know... These rows like like half an hour!
i have scarves and shawls on the brain for sure. nice lacey cotton shawl is great all year round.
I'm not dreaming of it, but I will be knitting up a baby blanket for my bestie (just as soon as I am told what sex the baby is!)

i'm dreaming of knitting socks! i don't know why but I'm dying to be knitting socks right now. which of course makes it super hard to finish the baby sweater I have a strict deadline for. But I have socks on the needles! blah.

I'm dreaming of finishing my wedding knitting for my wedding. Three shawls down, three to go!
Those colors are lovely! I really like the green you linked to, and the red you're keeping for yourself! I've been dreaming of knitting my first adult-sized sweater (Tea Leaves Cardigan) and also the Stripe Study Shawl I've been seeing pop up on Ravelry a lot. Here in San Francisco, it's barely any warmer in the summer than the winter, so I won't have to wait until next year to use them :-) Thanks for the giveaway!
I've been dreaming of knitting for the Nerd Wars Competition on Ravelry. It starts in June so I'm thinking of ideas but I can't cast anything on until the challenge is released on June 1!
With temperatures nearing triple digits, I am knitting up a sweater. {??}
This way I will have it done for absolute sure in the fall.

I'm dreaming of cardigans...for both summer and winter. Have you noticed that the weather is just so changeable no matter what the season. I want cozy cardigans to layer for added warmth, light for summer and heavy for winter.
I've just in hand Teva Durham's new lace book - fabulous worsted weight jacket I want, I want!!!
Anything cotton, or a cotton blend. Just started the Sweet November Shawl using Berroco Remix, and loving it!
I have a lot of new babies happening around me, so I'm thinking of lots of precious little cotton things for them to wear!
I dream of knitting summer clothes - I have never knit a summery item in my life, but that's got to change!
I'm working on a couple projects so I would really like to learn new techniques this summer like knitting with the magic loop and doing the fair isle technique.
I'm dreaming of knitting wrist warmers and cowls as the weather gets warmer.

Very pretty! I've been dreaming of knitting up a shawl..I haven't ever knit one but keep meaning to.
Lace! I have finally committed to using actual laceweight and plan on more shawls in both fingering and laceweight yarns. Also, lots of washcloths for two of my daughters who have their own apartments. :-)
i love knitting sweaters in the warmer months..if i didnt they would never be done in time for fall.. :) thanks for the giveaway!!
I been dreaming of knitting a lace shawl with some Kauni Rainbow that I bought last year at Stitches South. I love all 3 colors of the yarn in the giveaway.
Gorgeous semi-solids, indeed! I'm on an incurable sock kick right now. All I want to do is knit socks. This is good because my sock yarns have been taking over the stash bins as of late. :)
All the sudden I have the urge to knit a shawl! I don't wear shawls and can't imagine myself wearing one but I really want to knit one for some unknown reason!

I've already started a summer time knit that I was dreaming about, it is the lovely Wray from Lily Kate. I'm thinking it might actually take me all summer to knit too!!
Lots of socks...trying to burn through the sock stash!
I'm dreaming of knitting certain colors, specifically gold, instead of dreaming of knitting specific item types. I don't know what has spurred this "Gold Obsession" but it came on hard and fast!!! However, my knitting knows no season and I am always continually dreaming of knitting cowls, so this is perfect! Thanks for the giveaway, as usual it's top notch!!

On Mother's Day weekend I bought some beautiful worsted weight yarn, and now I am dreaming about making a cozy cowl, and a shawl from that soft Alpaca yarn!! At the moment it's still cool and grey in Vancouver...
Thank you all for a great giveaway!
I'm knitting shawls. I'm not sure why, but I've really gotten on a shawl kick. I've also gotten on a Baby Surprise Jacket kick, but that's understandable, since I have a new nephew coming this fall.
I knit the same things year round- socks, shawls & sweaters- maybe smaller sweaters!
I've caught some sort of a shawl fever even though I never thought I would. I have some insanely thin cotton yarn destined to become a summery lacy shawl of some sort. But I also must say thank you for linking the Goodale sweater because that's now definitely in my queue!
My next project will be a Citron shawl in purple for my husbands' grandmother. I'm very excited about that one. And After that, I'll probably try a short sleeve top for me. Trying not to dream too much about cold weather items just yet, but it's hard!
Dreams of finished projects, the shawl I am working on, another cowl or two for my Christmas gift box, mitts, too.
The yarns and pattern are lovely. Enjoy that bing cherry!
My BF's mom and me are designing a summer cardigan, and writing our first official pattern.. Stunning color change mohair blend for the body, and angora ruffles at the hem, sleeve edges, and collar.
I'm dreaming of knitting mesh curtains out of ladder yarn, and summer shawls.. as far as major projects... but I'm also very excited to be learning 2 at a time Toe up socks, (yummy cashmere blend sock yarn, so soft) and making some indulgent ones for me!!

I never plan if I find a cute pattern and have the yarn. but i always have a scarf or two on needles in different stages. I need both crochet and knitted projects kicking around so as the mood strikes I have something to just grab.
What am I dreaming of? Sweaters, sweaters, and more sweaters. I'm planning on knitting one for every member of my family this summer, and maybe one (or two) for myself.
I'm "dreaming" that I'll get all of my Christams knitting done this summer. It's a frequent dream that I've had over the years - somehow it never seems to come true!
i'm with you on the sweaters! I just got a puppy on earthday (for my birthday after having lost our 15 year old golden). So i have been enjoying knitting a sampler blanket and a couple sweaters for the new furry one! But i also admit to having fallen in love with the ebook from knitpicks called american prairie. Plan to knit the selections! (if i can get my time back with puppy!)
I'm dreaming of knitting something wonderful from the Anzula yarn your blog pursuaded me to buy! I had to have the poppy color dreaming of my California youth. Socks or a shawl. I can't decide. amchart on Ravelry
Ive not got time for dreaming as I'm rushing to get a wedding afghan done...but after that, maybe a cardigan!

What a beautiful cowl pattern and beautiful blue yarn, too!

I really want to finish my sister's lace tablecloth. I've also been thinking about more and more lace projects. Maybe a hooded cowl?
Lately I've been itching to start a new scarf, but I'm fighting it because I don't even NEED another scarf. I DO need some cute summer sweaters though, but that just doesn't seem very interesting right now.
I'm dreaming of shawls, shawls, shawls! They are so perfect for cool summer nights!

I hope to get back to sock knitting. I've started two pairs, way back last summer(!), that haven't seen the light of day since about mid-October. I keep getting sidetracked with "little" projects, including cowls--and yes I would love to have this pattern!

I really want to knit a sweater, and I might try this summer because I will have more time, but it will be really hot.
I am loving lightweight sweaters by Hannah Fettig and shawls. I can get a lot of mileage out of lace and sock weight yarns.
I want to finish my Tempest Cardigan and the Coachella top I just started. I want to knit scarves and shawls and socks and fingerless mitts. And regular mitts. I might need more than a few months. Too many wishes, too little time!

Gorgeous yarns! And I love the cowl - it'd be great in a long infinity.
Oh yes, I'm definitely an automn person...
I'm knitting Soay, and thinking about Shalder and Kerrera.
I'm dreaming of socks. I joined a sock yarn club here in NZ and have about 5 skeins of beautiful wool waiting to be knit. I've been so busy making new baby gifts and jerseys for my sons for winter that I haven't even been able to think about casting on socks yet.
I've got a great vision of a sweater for my aunt--longer at the sides, cables down the back, boat neck and wide off-the-shoulder sleeves. She'll look fantastic in it...if I ever get it done! :)
HMM I too am dreaming of sweaters...I'm a teacher and off for hte summer and I like to knit sweaters to have in the fall! I'm also quite into small shawls/cowls at this point too because my classroom is very cold and I wear them at work all winter long!

I'm dreaming of knitting so many things! I have a Farrah sweater pattern from Berocco that I have yarn for and will be knitting for a trip to Duluth, but want to finish some other things up first. So - dream on!
I'm finishing a sweater for my husband. I store my yarn in a loft above our bedroom. I keep climbing the ladder to look at the string of projects I have lined up: a thick winter scarf, a pair of socks, a shawlette and then a sweater for me. Yarn is all wound, patterns printed and sitting under the yarn. It's very exciting!
I recently visited San Francisco and saw woolly cowls everywhere. So I've been dreaming of cowls, while gazing at lightweight sweaters. Somehow, they go together, I think.
It has been a while since I wanted to make some kind of a corset that includes cables. I hope I will knit it in the upcoming months

I want to knit a Tiny Tea Leaves in green for my girl and a big one in some (as yet to be determined/bought) fancy yarn for me.
A summer sweater and socks! Something for myself for a change... of course I always say that and end up giving away my knittings. =)
I am also dreaming of knitting sweaters. However, I just got a skein of 100% cashmere lace, so a shawl sounds pretty good too.

I'm looking forward to starting my first pair of sock soon! I need to practice a bit on my knit stitches since I've got crochet on the brain lately, but I'm excited!
I too have sweaters on my mind! Madelinetosh May has gotten me very into sweaters right now and I have a bunch queued up. At least if I knit sweaters all summer I'll have something to wear in the fall!
I seem to really get the knitting urge the most strongly as the weather warms up...that seems backwards, but I guess it's a good way to stock up on delicious knit things for when the cold weather comes and I can finally wear them! I've been buying sweater quantities of yarn so that I can finally do some larger projects, so I have a whole progression of those lined up from a simple seamless top-down raglan to a highly structured and lacy cardi.

I've been knitting lots of lace lately (scarf and gloves) but neglecting my current sock in progress (it's the second sock) so I would like to get back to it so that I can finish up not only the sock, but the pair!
I'm planning on a couple of shawls in the next few months.
I want to knit Hermoine's Godric's Hollow hat from Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows (pt. 1). :)
Dreams of a summer cotton top for myself and lots of small knits for Christmas gift giving.
My sister found out at her scan yesterday that her baby is a boy- my first nephew! So the pair of overalls I'd been knitting in an almost feminine colorway are going to be abandoned while I knit some bright boy things for our little man!
it's funny, but it's true. I am planning to make 2 cardignas and 2 scarves this summer. I call it being prepared for fall....it's simply planning ahead!!!

I've been looking for the perfect cowl and I think that one is very very close to it! Also the yarn is very pretty :)
I'm dreaming of summer shawls in silk and bamboo.
I promised to knit my sister a cardigan as a graduation present, but after that I want to try my hand at knitting socks, which I have never done before, and given that I'm traveling a lot this summer, it would be a nice portable project.
Just finished a fingering-weight sweater, so I'm happy to be starting an aran-wt. bell-sleeve shrug that's been in the qeue (and the yarn in the drawer) for a couple of years, but I'm also looking forward to trying my hand at a few open-work summer tanks in cotton blends, making up the patterns for them. And a knitted corset, I've been dreaming about that for 10 years or so. I am NOT dreaming about the hat I knit for my hubby that somehow came out slightly too big and got all misshapen in my attempts to shrink it, which awaits frogging and reknitting. Fortunately we have all summer for me to have more successful projects to wipe away that pain so that I may start anew! :D
I'm dreaming of flowing cotton vests and light and lacy cardigans for Spring and Summer wear.
I'm dreaming of finishing the master knitting level 1 class of TKGA and making a Noni Designs bag and finishing all of the projects on the needles. I could use a cowl for my work travels.
Yarns are both so beautiful. It will be hard knowing which one to cast on first! If the very lucky winner, perhaps it will come to me in a dream. For dreamy they are!
I'm going to learn to knit socks toe up. I want to give lots of wooly goodness for gifts this year and handknitted socks have been requested by almost everyone.

(The bing cherries yarn is stunning... tho I am jealous, I think you picked well for yourself.)
Up next for my summer knitting will be a tee with short cap sleeves and a scoop neck. And maybe I'll have to buy some yarn for that...
I'm working myself up to knitting my mom wristlets to match her Pretty Thing cowl. And then I'm not sure what I'm going to knit. I think I need to knit myself something, but that might involve spinning the yarn first.
I have been casting on socks like crazy. Already finished two pair done in less than 6 weeks. Im working on my first (of many I hope) sweater.

Between gathering ALL of my mother's yarns and donating them recently, and teaching a couple of young girls how to knit and crochet, I had a hankering to visit my LYS. In there was the cutest scarf and an equally cute summer sweater. Of course, I just had to purchase the patterns and yarns.
But packing and moving keep me from getting started on these treasures. So needless to say, I have been dreaming lately of knitting them.
Can't wait to get started!
I've been dreaming about hats and shrugs lately! I love Amanda's yarns and Stephannie's patterns are always awesome. Thank you for a wonderful giveaway featuring two of my favorite gals :)
Why cowls,of course! Along with mittens and sweaters.
I have two little girls- one is almost 3, one is 3 months old...I'm dreaming of knitting them cute little coordinating HATS!!!
I'm dreaming of knitting a sweater for myself . I knit a lot for everyone but my self.
I'm dreaming of socks. Probably with split toes. That way my freezy breezy toes can stay warm in flip-flops this spring.
I am dreaming of finishing some UFO's over the next couple months. A gansey fro a friend going to Ireland in November. Socks for my SIL. Hat for my dad...the list is long.
I am dreaming of knitting sweaters too. I have two sweaters' worth of yarn stashed away, but I keep changing my mind on the pattern...
I've been itching to design a shawl lately. I've never done a shawl before, so it should be interesting.

I'm dreaming of making tons and tons of socks and shawls!!!!
Sweaters, me too! Started on a summer lightweight cardi, but am already thinking of upcoming winter cardis!
What a great blog! I found you by a round a bout route from Ravelry. Love the designs by Stephannie. At present I am dreaming of the sunshine which you have - we are in NY and its wet, damp and grey.
I dream of lovely lightweight sweaters with stripes.

Right now I'm dreaming of knitting ANYTHING BUT the Pamuya shawl that I have been working on for MONTHS. I've been knitting in front of the TV and I'm a perfectionist. These two things do not go together when the pattern is somewhat complex, lol. I'm almost done (knock wood) as long as I don't have to rip back again. It's going to be gorgeous but it took a long time. :)
I've got a couple shawls that keep calling my name that I'm going to have to start...
I will knit 1-2 cotton tees for the summer and then I will start knitting Christmas presents just to be on time this year!
I'm planning to knit Jared Flood's Rock Island shawl withe some Woolmeise my sister is bringing from London, and a Brandywine shawl with some Edna's Bounty from Good Karma Alpaca farm. all while trying to finish my husband's gansey which has been 3 year in the knitting!
Ever since I discovered that there is nettle yarn, I have dreamed of making sort of an openwork sweater from it, with one sleeve of white fun fur, inspired by the youngest brother in the fairy tale "The Wild Swans." It's an idea left over from an Anderson's fairy tale knit-a-long I ended up not doing . . . but maybe someday I will!
Thanks for the great giveaway!
I'm dreaming of finishing a sweater that I started last summer and restarted in October and December and January! Fourth times the charm, right?
I'm dreaming of finishing a project in a decent space of time - I am a great starter but then the novelty wears off and I get distracted by other more interesting and tempting patterns...and so it goes on........
I am dreaming of knitting linen tank tops and a cotton lace wrap I can wear over my bathing suit.
I'm dreaming about finding the perfect sweater to knit with my handspun yarn. The only problem is I don't think I have enough. I keep looking though. The cowl is so pretty. ( espeically with the kitty)
Actually, I have been looking for a cowl pattern, so this prize would fit the bill nicely!!
I'd love to finally finish the Tea leaves cardigan I've been working, but have no idea what to work on next...
I have about a month off between finishing my undergrad and starting grad school, so I'm dreaming of finishing up some projects. And supposing I get through that, I'll be looking for something new to start.
With any luck I'll be knitting a cowl..... :)
