Congratulations! Please contact me at yarnonthehouse@gmail.com to collect your prizes.
Hello, fellow knitters and yarn obsessed friends!
For those of you that follow the YOTH Group you may have already heard about the medical problems that I have been experiencing in my life as of late. About a month ago I started having serious problems with my gallbladder and unfortunately, it got to the point where I had to have it removed. Of all things, I landed in the hospital on Friday the 13th for emergency surgery. I ended up having a couple of complications and spent almost a week at the hospital. Yuck! I'm back home now and feeling much better - well on my to full recovery.
But, the blog must go on! This giveaway is a little different than usual. I have a guest that is a knitter, designer, and graphics artist. Well, I'll just let you read her bio... meet Knitterella:
"Jill Zielinski, aka Knitterella, is a graphic designer by trade and a knitter by heart. In 2003 she combined her passions and created Knitterella. Her whimsical paper product line continues to grow. With her unique gift tags being the star of the line, they are not only loved by knitters but all crafters alike! Jill has recently added project bags and even her first original knitting pattern. See the complete product line at www.knitterella.com.
Along with her Knitterella business, Jill is a freelance graphic designer. She takes pride in the fact that the larger part of her clientele are fellow knitters. From logos, to pattern layout and ads to web graphics, Jill Zielinski Designs can create just about anything. See some of her work and contact her for rates at www.jillzielinskidesigns.com."
Check out Jill's really cute Smocked Slouch hat pattern:
Along with her great sense of style, Jill designs funny knitting goodies. Her gift tags are well known. I love this set! Too funny! Jill has also recently added knitting project bags to her arsenal, and honestly who couldn't use another WIP project bag?!
I want 10 of these!! Jill has graciously donated three of her lovely project bags for three lucky followers to win. There's one with each of her funny sayings. Thanks, Knitterella!
I would like you to do the following if you would like to be entered into this week's giveaway:
1. Read over the rules if you have not done so already.
2. Leave a comment on this blog post by the end of Sunday, 6/5/11. What do you use for project bags? Anything out of the ordinary? I recently found a cosmetic case for a really great price that had plastic sections on the inside - perfect for a small project and all the tools to knit it. How do you like to carry your knitting projects?
I'll randomly pick the winners in 2 weeks and post the results along with the new giveaway, so be sure to check back. Good luck everyone.
Sincerely,
Ve

I am not entering the draw this time, but just wanted to wish you a speedy recovery. Take loads of rest and get well soon.
I use 'real' project bags, plus a couple of large zipped pencil cases, and a supermarket recyclable bag (it's Cath Kidston!) These look like loads of fun!
Hope you are feeling better soon!
I use the plastic bags that my yarn store sold me the yarn in, or ziplock baggies. I need something "official" :)
Glad you are feeling better.
I alternate between a tote I got at the Ravelry store, an old-fashioned project bag from my hubby's grandma, and a clear plastic case that had a cosmetic set in it and still smells deliciously!
Thank you for another fun giveaway, and hope you'll recover soon!
I'm actually on the hunt right now for a good knitting bag. I was using a fabric bag I made to use as an eco bag and it drives me crazy when my needles poke through the loose weave of the fabric.
First things first - hope the medical stuff has calmed down and your on the way back to full health and goodness!
There are several precious project bags proper made by a friend that I love and always have in use, an old Dior gift with purchase bag that is brilliant for DPN projects, and I just recently turned a gift bag (had a scarf from my bosses in it, the lovelies!) into my most noticeable project bag: it's all over silver!
I love smaller drawstring bags for projects like socks and mittens that I can throw into my purse but for sweaters and other large projects I have 2 "real" knitting bags and a few medium sized tote bags. I really like having the smaller pockets that the "real" bags have - it makes it easier to keep track of notions.
sadly, I use whatever I can find, and sometimes even resort to just tossing my project in my purse. this strategy doesn't usually work very well. :) speedy recovery to you!
Get well, Ve!
I love this giveaway. I most often use a box bag that I bought on Etsy.
I use just about anything on hand to corral my projects. Right now I have knitting projects stashed in a Longaberger purse, some 1 gallon ziplock bags, a woven basket from a developing country, and my sewing box (which should make you ask where all my sewing notions are being stored). Wishing you a speedy recovery!
I have a bunch of book bags from local libraries that my mom and I used to collect when I was younger. They're the perfect size for a WIP, but not nearly as witty or topical as kniterella's!
I have two clear (with designs on) bags from Bath and Body Works that are great bags for medium-sized projects. I also have a handful of the typical small drawstring-style bags. If it's a big project, I have a seemingly limitless supply of tote bags.
I just stick them in whatever I have closest. They usually end up in the tote bag I carry around, but they'd love to be in their own special bag inside that bag! These are really cute. I love Knitterella.
Hope you are 100% again soon!
I've had a knit knitting bag with a sewn lining as a WIP almost since I started knitting, one day I will finish it! Until then, I just use a plain over the shoulder grocery-type bag.
I usually just keep my current project in a basket for easy toting around the house.
I've got a load of traditional project bags plus whatever interesting shoulder bags I can find. My most recent purchase was a shoulder bag from Target; it's just the right size for a book and a couple of small projects, plus it's got pockets on the inside that I can throw my cell phone and ipod in so they don't get lost in the bottom of the bag. Wow that was a run-on sentence....anyways, glad to hear you're feeling better! :)
I use lots of random bags for projects. One of my favorites is a bag handmade from Panama that my Aunt got me. Seems to fit everything just right and it's not too big. I also use my yarn shops bags when i buy yarn for a project. FUN!
Feel better soon btw!

I have a myriad, seriously, of project bags, ranging from "real" ones like my GoKnits bag, to my Rav bag. My latest, and most unusual, is a rag-braided basket which acts perfectly as a yarn bowl! Thanks for introducing me to these wonderful new products and their maker!!!! The tags are hilarious! I love it all! samm@ravelry
Ummmmm I can't get either link to Jill's sites to open. Is it just me!? samm@ravelry
I use medium sized tote bags usually. They're good for larger projects, but when it's just a pair of socks or something else small it's a bit much. My smaller projects end up floating around in there. I love the "I believe I'll knit another row" bag.
Oh no! Sorry to hear about your recent health issues. Hopefully you're on the road to recovery now. My mom had her gallbladder out a few years ago, and other than having to be a little more careful about rich, fatty foods now, she's totally recovered!
In terms of the giveaway, I make my own drawstring project bags, in different sizes for sweaters vs hats vs. things that require 2 balls of yarn at the same time, etc. And when I go camping, which is a lot, I usually use a ziploc as a project bag just to keep everything protected better. (Hmm. . . I should try making project bags from all the cute laminated fabric out now!) I'd love to win one of these bags, though -- mine don't have cute sayings on them :-)
I use knitting bags, small and big, and that's like you said: you can't have enough!
Get well soon.
I don't use project bags because I don't have any! I just throw my knitting in the diaper bag or sit it out on the couch (this is not good when you have kids!). Yesterday I made some bags out of old t-shirts. Maybe I should use those for project bags! Or maybe I could win this giveaway?
Sad but true: I use plastic bags for my knitting. Hope to win this time, the bag in the pic is awesome!
-Ravnejenta on Rav
i use project bags just for knittting..they are essential to me!..thanks for the giveaway!!
Glad you are home and feeling better. I had the same thing happen to me on the 4th of July. The pain was almost worse than labor.
I have a couple of box bags, but my favorite project holder is my great-grandma's knitting basket.
I am so sorry to hear you are having problems with "body parts." Hopefully the removal of the defective part will have you back in "drive" and zooming along.
I pick up bags at the local thrift store and have found some great ones, but if one doesn't work out, I just return it for someone else to try. None are as neat as Knitterella's, though.
I cannot get Google to let me post this comment so am trying Anonymous. Hope it works.
Zowmom on Ravelry
My John Deere (I live in Nebraska) diaper bag (I have six kids) frequently doubles as a knitting bag! Ravelry amchart
I use gift bags at home and plastic ziploc for on the go
I've been using giant ziploc bags that have a carrying handle, keeps the dog hair out of my yarn.
Hope your taking it easy!
I usually use zip top plastic bags when storing my yarn (I had a big tangling problem before I started doing this). I usually stash my projects in a zip top bag and put it in my purse if it's a small project or carry a canvas bag for larger projects. Thanks for the giveaway.
I started out using plastic ziploc bags, but now have quite the set of project bags ranging from those intended to be knitting bags (like Namaste mesh bags) to other bags that show my flare. I would love to win one of Kniterella's bags! Thanks for the opportunity.
I use a zippered tote that I bought at a yardsale for $l.00. I love it.
Wishing you a speedy recovery!
As for project bags, I have a few drawstring ones from various Etsy sellers, and I also love my Oh Snap bags from Namaste. Now to go buy Kniterella's cute smocked hat pattern!
I can always use another project bag! I really love the saying printed on this one...hilairous.
zimme345 on ravelry
I carry projects in anything and everything. It seems I never have the right bag handy at the moment. I'm always jealous of people with cute likely project bags that seem to fit everything perfectly.
My father travels for a living so he picks up little bags from every country his visits. I use those as project bags. It helps me keep track of them because they're all so different
As project bags, I use purses with large openings, Lululemon shopping bags. I've also knitted and felted one bag and sewed a few as well. The size of the project will determine the bag I will use. A new knitting bag would be perfect for my summer knitting!!
I usually carry my projects around in these recyclable bags from Barnes & Noble. Good size...not too big; not too small!!
I've been organizing World Wide Knit in Public events for the last four years. I have been lucky and people volunteered to make bags that are the perfect project bag size to giveaway to the first 40 people that show up for the event. I also have people who donate stitch markers, locally dyed yarn samples from hand dyers and sometimes coupons to shops. A couple of the LYS also donate door prizes. It's a fun event.
I used in the past the bags that yarn purchases came in to recycle them.
I use my cute reusable bags from Bath and Body Works. Light weight, trendy, spacious and inexpensive - all the characteristics I am looking for
Feel better soon
I use anything I can get my hands on, ziplocs, pencil cases, cosmetic bags, even purses.
Hope you are feeling better soon
I love the Knowknits bags as project bags. For small tools I use a small Namaste mesh bag, which I love because I can see the contents at a glance without opening the bag. To carry multiple projects I toss several project bags into a larger one.
I love Jill's bags. And, I definitely need one...I am currently using the zippered pouch that our last set of pillow cases came in as my sock WIP bag. That's just sad..
Zip-up cosmetic bags, old purses, and ziplocks.
I use cloth drawstring bags. I've made some myself, but I usually use the ones I've purchased because the drawstring works better. I love the sayings on Knitterella's bags and tags and everything!
Keep on the mend. Hope you're 100% soon.
I tend to use cloth bags, everyday kind, to store my projects in. And a colourful pencil case for all the bits and bobs.
i use several different tote bags/purses of varying sizes depending on the size of the knitting. and they each get a little handmade notions bag for those projects little things. hope you are recovering well. i am praying for you.
My "tools" bag is an old clinique promotions bag and I use any number of canvas or baggu bags to carry my projects. Probably the nicest projects bag I have is a silver zip top bag that I received as a promotional giveaway at a Stitch-n-Pitch night in Cleveland.
I have a few 2 pocket ethnic bags from world market, a couple of drawstring apple store bags (great for socks), and a large zippered tot from the local farmers market. I like being able to hang them on the coat hooks or in the closet.
Ve, hope you are feeling better.
I really like my go knit pouch because it's light & the ripstop makes it strong. I also have a set of toiletry bags from ikea. They are water resistant and wonderful..
I'm sorry to hear about your medical issues. I hope you are healing well.
I used to use normal bags you get a the stores but now I have two bags that were made by two knitting friends! I'm a big fan of Knitterella so i would love to win one of these bags. Get very well soon!
I have a couple of handmade drawstring bags that I bought on Etsy but I always have a ton of WIPs that end up in ziploc bags too.
I either shove it into my big felted tote bag, or if it's delicate lace or something I'll put it in a gallon ziploc bag - which then gets shoved into my big felted tote bag. Glad to hear you're on the mend! Take care of yourself!
I'm embarrassed to say that most of my WIP's are in plastic grocery bags. This always shames me because I remember reading in one of Maggie Righetti's books that you should always treat your knitting with love and respect (or something like that) and tossing it in a plastic grocery bag is just not right. In my defense, I have so many WIP's that I would need a box load of nice knitting bags to keep them all in. I am trying to frog or finish but it's a challenge.
I've used everything from fabric drawstring bags to plastic ziploc bags for projects! I also use a cosmetic case for my tools, it works great.
I usually use the plastic bags where the yarn come from the store where I bought it, when they are almost destroyed, I use anyy plastic bag I lay hands on. I hope you ¡ll get better soon. Kisses.
I have a couple of project bags of different sizes I use when traveling with a WIP (but I could always use another one since I always seem to have more WIPs than bags). My various notions and tools go in a zippered pouch.
Glad you are starting to feel better. Hope the rest of your recovery time flies by.

What fun project bags! I mostly use drawstring bags that I have made or that people have given me.
Becky (gathersnomoss on ravelry)
I use plastic ziploc bags because I'm afraid if I don't zip them up the cat will attack my wip's. LOL.
Hope you are feeling better!
I use a rainforest cafe reuseable bag for my current project and good old freezer bags for WIP. I would love to own something pretty!
Tera
TeraRowe@gmail.com
I use some project bags I got on etsy, one a friend knitted and felted for me, and also a leather handbag!!
I love the "I believe I'll knit another row" bag so much and I would love to get away from ziplocks1
I'm not entering this time.
Knitting bags are too cute...love the tags.
May you be restored to full health.
My first project bag was the bag that my jersey sheets came in. They make great project bags in a pinch!
I hope for a speedy recovery for you as well!
love that knit hat!
i tend to collect project bags but most are used during travel or prepping projects for travel. Not too many wip's. I love a good funky bag! I have used the bags you can store lingerie in but nothing too unique.
I'm addicted to the Tom Bihn stuff sacks. ADDICTED. I can't really use anything else now.
When I go to my knitting groups, I use either a canvas tote, cloth tote with bamboo handles, or a rectangular tote with outside pockets. I rotate them. For small projects, I use a clear plastic drawstring project bag.
Knitterella was one of my first friends on Ravelry. I would love to win one of her bags.
Knittingknot on Ravelry
I typically use the little plastic or paper bags that the yarn shops use to bag up my goodies. If it's a larger project, I have a larger cotton tote bag that I use. I have a small drawstring bag that was made for me, but I need new drawstrings because the ones that came with the bag haven't survived:(
I am notorious for buying the velcro tab lunch bags on the cheap from places like Target or Old Navy--perfect for sock projects. I also like to re-use gift bags, particularly the plain ol' kraft paper bags. HOWEVER, I have dedicated part of my summer to manufacturing some lined, self-locking fabric knitting bags. Time to KIP in style!
Gallbladder surgery isn't much fun. I had emergency surgery the night of my moms birthday party 2 years ago. And my mom had hers out last year. We have a running joke that to live in our house you must have your gallbladder removes. And sometimes my boyfriend teases me and says he's going to break up w/ me, that he only really loved me for my gallbladder (we just had our 4 year anniversary, and he spent 2 uncomfortable nights in a hospital chair keeping me company)
Aaaaand..
I use an envelope shaped clutch that my grandmother crochet to keep little projects in. Otherwise I have a big blue sling type bag that holds bigger projects (my never ending sylvie)
I'm glad that your on your way to recovery. :)
I have a pencil case to hold my traveling needles and cable and itty bitties
and i have a fishing line bag to hold all the stuff that stays at home.
and i just bought a ottoman to keep all the W.I.P. out of sight.
Moe
I mostly use cloth bads from various knitting stores. Pretty boring I guess. I'm glad to hear you are feeling well. Sounds like a scary experience.
Feel better soon!
I use the cloth reusable grocery bags. They are roomy and convenient, but not as cute as these ones from Kniterella!
I'm currently using a MASSIVE Vera bag to hold multiple ziplock bags that hold individual projects.
(hope you get to feeling better soon!)
Glad to hear you're on the mend :)
It depends on the project I'm doing. Smaller things I need to shove in my purse get a gallon Ziplock bag. If it's a really big one, I have a tote bag from a yarn store. If I don't really need to transport it, then paper shopping bags seem to hold up well.
I'm almost embarassed to admit that all my projects are in ziplocks of various sizes. I usually "overbag" them in a backpack or tote bag, but nothing as fun as Kniterella's!
Ziplocks, and drawstring plastic bags from the yarn shops... Happy recovery to you!
I use zipper cosmetic bags in different sizes from Daiso, the Japanese Dollar Store. Also, I have "wet bags" from my old diaper bag which are the right size for larger projects.
I use anything that I have handy. Bags from sheet sets, ziplocs, misc. small cloth bags that I have. Whatever. I hope that you are feeling better.
Happy to hear that Knitterella is on the mend! I love those cute little bags!
as project bags, I use a simple cotton one gifted from a friend. At the moment, I'm knitting socks... using this bag along with a ziplock one, to separate my balls and socks! By the way, love those humorist items!
I use the cotton drawstring bags that shoes or sheets come in. The drawstring helps keep the yarn ball in the bag while knitting. Would love to win a Knitterella bag.
I use gift-with purchase cosmetic bags for tools, and a drawstring-type bag for the yarn/project so I can toss it in my purse to carry with me; however, the needles poking thru the fabric drives me crazy.
Glad you are feeling better!
Hope you get well quickly! I am pretty much tied into fantastic knitting bags from sellers on easy. Silver Pumpkin and Mad Bird come to mind immediately. Love me some easy knitting bags.
I have tons and tons of reusable canvas bags, so I usually just grab one for a project bag when I want to start something new. So sometimes there's, like, all my yarn and needles and an onion in there... not really ;)
Get well soon!
I'm currently using a small cosmetic zipper bag for socks. It's perfect; one skein and sock in progress are a snug fit and there's enough room for a small postage stamp sized notebook. Easy to tote around or sneak into church!
I use a little drawstring hemp bag that a cosmetic case came in. I use the cosmetic case for all my bits and pieces.
I have also been known to use a large plastic bag that a set of sheets came in. It has a pocket for the pattern and other bits and is big enough to put in a largish project like a cardigan.
I usually use cosmetic bags in a variety of sizes. Would love to have an actual project bag though!
Those bags are great! I always have a tote with a project with me (well, almost always). But these bags might be better as I keep my yarn and knitting in a plastic bag in that tote and they don't "breathe" in plastic very well. ^_^
I love having multiple project bags...all depends on the mood I'm in when I pack up to go....
Zip locs in LYS bags from knitting events inside (some projects) in ye olde bag, otherwise known as a properly sized purse - bucket type for easy access whilst waiting in line.
LOVE the reference to the golden oldie - I won't say which year, but it was popular in my (mostly misspent) youth!
Ah, bring back slow dancing!
Sorry to hear about the gall baldder surgery. I did it years ago when thefirst and only baby was 6 weeks old. She and I are still around three decades later to tell the story! Feel better soon
THe bags: What fun! My WIPs are usually sitting in a variety of small totes. My two favorites are a mini boat tote ($3 at Christmas Tree shop) and a beautiful little plasticised art deco design from Harrod's. The WIP's that are only sort of in progress are in whatever is handy at the time I stuff them into the WIP cabinet!
I love bags, and will use just about anything to hold my knits.... My living room is taken over with project bags all over! I love the box pouches you can purchase on etsy (I recently received one for my birthday, and this has become my favorite), totebags, cosmetic pouches, and even a simple ziploc will do.
mhchong@aol.com
I tend to use whatever bag I have on hand. Usually plastic shopping bags, sometimes large ziplock bags or empty bread bags.
Love the hat and love the bag! I am a firm believer in the idea that a bag lady can never have enough bags and most knitters are bag ladies! (Ok, I am - love seperate bags for all my projects.)
These are soo cute! I am mostly working on smaller projects these days. I have a hat on the needles right now and am keeping it in a very chic ziploc bag ;o)
I often end up just using zip lock plastic bags. I would much rather use something pretty, but they are functional. I hope you feel better soon!
Glad that you are feeling better!
I use the Tom Bihn stuff sacks, the clear bottoms are fantastic for helping keep me and my projects organized. And they come in a variety of colors and sizes.
I don't have any official project bags, but I do have some tote bags that are too small for groceries I sometimes use. And I cut a hole in the corner of a Ziplock bag and put my ball of yarn in it to prevent tangles.
Thanks as always for the great giveaway!
I use my collection of canvas bags for large projects (sweaters, shawls and blankets). My favorite of the those is my Bryn Mawr Quiddich Team bag (Bryn Mawr is my alma mater). For small projects like socks and mittens, I use the nice draw string bags you get at the Apple store. They are exactly the right size to hold a sock in progress, the yarn needed and a folded pattern. AND they are doubled plastic so dpns are less likely to poke through.
I have a variety of cosmetic cases that come with samples when you purchase make up that I use for small projects. I also have a beautiful flowered tote for large projects, a smaller bag for medium size projects, and a backpack type tote from my PT. Currently, they are all full! Knitterella's bags are wonderful and I love her gift tags! Rest, knit, and heal so you are feeling better soon!
I put large projects in a vinyl bag that I got as a complimentary gift with a magazine subscription. It doesn't have near enough pockets inside, but I deal with it by using small clear plastic zip-type 'envelopes' for my notions. This bag is darling and quite a statement!
I'm kind of a bag lady, so I use all kinds of bags - from plastic shop bags to Kate Spade totes, and everything in between.
Stay well!
My current favorite project bag is the small KnowKnits draw-string bags. For my notions I have several mesh cosmetic bags that I LOVE.
A pencil case for my bits and bobs.
A basket I bought in S Africa. A recycled 'bag for life' ............
the list goes on - a dedicated project bag would be a novelty!
Rest up and feel better! I rescue old cloth purses and totes to use as sweater project bags. That way I can just throw a few things from my purse into it when I go to the movies. The dollar-fifty theater is a great place to work on sweaters.
Get well soon. I"ve heard of several gall bladder issues recently and they all had complications!
At times like the present, I have more projects than project bags (and I have many project bags!). I have one in a zip lock bag, one in my big bag that I carry several projects, my iPad, and a cosmetic case that has darning needles, spare yarn scraps for lifelines, tape measure, etc. My big bag is from 31 and has pockets on the side and is very roomy. I've purchased several draw string bags from etsy.com vendors.
I usually use each bag for a separate project - which means that I'm a bag ho and a yarn ho. I wear it proudly! get well!
My favorite bag was one that I swiped from my husband. He got it at a computer show. It is draw sting and says Micros....t. on it. I rigged it up with a little tag inside with a snap, so I can thread my yarn thru it.
-Best of luck on your recovery.
I use a Claire's zip pouch for notions.
The yarns you've used looks lovely!
