giveaway #85

The Grand Prize winner of the California Revival giveaway is:

Elizabeth Ahlers

The Runner Up winner is:

Taloferia

Congratulations! Please contact me at yarnonthehouse@gmail.com to collect your prizes.

I bring you all sorts of beautiful yarn and patterns during my giveaways; however, every now and again I showcase something that relates to knitting in some way, but isn't necessarily something that you can actually use to knit with. That's what I have to share with you this time... a beautiful work of art that you can wear with your knitting! Meet Inna the owner of Ingo Jewelry. Inna is a very talented jewelry artist that designs and creates gorgeous pieces of wearable art. I'm sure I'm not the only one that loves jewelry, but Inna specializes a part of her jewelry line in shawl and scarf pins that I am just enamored with. I told you it was all going to come back to knitting!

You know I'm a fan of knitting shawls - it's my fav! However, I have shawls in my wardrobe that like to slide off my neck when I wear them (again, not the only one I'm sure). These divine pins that Inna creates are just the answer for my problem. Not to mention, an elegant addition to complete the look when wearing one. Inna's pins are not only stunning, but lightweight and perfect to pin on a lace shawl. I'll stop blabbing on about how much I love these things and let you listen to an interview I did with Inna this morning instead...

Ingo Jewelry has put together a simply beautiful giveaway for you this time. Two followers have the chance to win a handmade shawl pin. I decided the best way to show off the two gorgeous pieces was by showcasing them on a couple of my shawls of course!

I own one shawl pin. It's a giant safety pin (without a point, obviously) and I use it on some of my smaller shawls. I have always wanted to buy more, but it's just so hard to pick out one! I want several, and that makes it near impossible to pick.

Sheila said...

I don't have any shawl pins. Until this winter I didn't have any shawls because I thought of them as only for dressy occasions, which I don't often have. But this winter I've discovered the idea of a shawl instead of a cowl or scarf and have become a fan of shawls. So I really need a shawl pin.

GeneticsGirl said...

I don't have any shawl pins, although I do have a beautiful hair clip that I've used as a substitute in the past. I haven't found anything local that I loved, yet, and I can't justify the shipping from the international suppliers I love!

Knitmish on Ravelry said...

I do use shawl pins! My favourite is a wooden one that I got from a local woodturner. It works well with all my shawls due to its neutral colour, but it's a little large and bulky. Inna's shawl pins are gorgeous, and I'd love a lightweight one to add to my little collection!

InJuneau said...

I think I prob. own a shawl pin or two (or at least something that could work as one). However, I haven't yet knit myself a shawl so haven't had the chance to use one yet! A shawl is in the planning though.

josiekitten said...

I have one shawl pin that was a gift from a knitting friend. I need to use it more to hold my shawls in place. These two are just beautiful.

Jonette said...

I don't a shawl pin as yet, but have been wanting one for ages! Both those are just beautiful

Suzanne said...

I wear shawls all the time but as of yet do not have a shawl pin. I enjoyed looking at Inna's work. Thank you!

Ely said...

I have a couple of shawl pins that I occasionally wear. I often want to put them on, but if I'm doing lots of earrands, have to wear a heavy coat or a backpack I don't dare to. I'm too afraid of losing them while being in the zoo that is the bus or dropping them without noticing when carrying stuff around.

asteride said...

I do not have a shawl pin yet, but I have a lot of shawl that would just be happy to wear one.

Have yet to make a shawl-seems sort of like the holy grail making the perfect shawl for me but clearly perfection needs to be completed with more perfection.

Robin said...

I only have two shawl pins so far, but love both of them. I do use them, I also use them for one of my wrap around sweaters.

Krystal said...

I had just one shawl pin, and recently the head broke off it :( Booo! I'm just starting to knit shawls, but I was mostly using my pin to keep a few button-less sweaters shut.

Beathag said...

I don't own one yet. I admirem them though in every given chance!
I hope I win!

I haven't used one in the past - my shawls have mostly been triangular in shape and I just wear them point down in front and wrapped around my neck. I would love to have a beautiful shawl pin to inspire the knitting of something worthy to wear it with! Thanks for the chance to maybe win one!

amchart said...

I do not own a shawl pin. I knit shawl after shawl but don't wear them. Does that make me a process knitter? My sister on the other hand has picked up quite a few pins on her knitting travels. If I were to win, it might be added to her collection. So lovely by the way. Rav amchart

I have one tiny shawl pin that I use on my fingering shawlettes. I use a big broach on my worsted wrap, and I've also used DPNs in a pinch. Those are some super lovely pins!

I love Inna's work so much!!
Amazing wirework, it's kind of similar to knitting
:))
I do use shawl pins, especially with the shawls my grandmohter has made and left me.
I love them so.
Makes me feel a bit closer to her.

What an amazing shop and creations!!
I use shawl pins a lot, because I have many knitted little cardigans and boleros that do not have buttons or use them even as decorative pins on coats.

Best to all,

i don't have any shawl pins, and until this fall didn't have any shawls, but now that i have a few, i could really use one!

Lovely! I don't use shawl pins but only because I don't have one and I haven't knit a shawl yet! :)

I own two of Romi Hill's shawl pins, to go with all the Romi shawlettes I knit! I love the beads/crystals on Inna's, though.

I requested a shawl pin for my birthday and received a lovely stick-pin with a cameo on it, which is unfortunately not very good at keeping my shawls closed! I love these pins, they're stunning!

Laura said...

I don't own a shawl pin, but I have recently seen why I need at least one, and have been on the hunt for a good one ever since. These are lovely!

Stranded Things said...

I've been looking at shawl pins, but haven't found the "perfect" one yet - at least not in my very modest price range. I have at least one shawl that desperately needs one.

These are certainly beautiful for dressy occasions, but for everyday use I'm way too shabby for them! :)

Debbie said...

they are both really pretty. I haven't used a shawl pin yet, because I haven't yet knit a shawl. But I just got the Daybreak pattern and will be starting it shortly! I would love to win one. Debbie H gussek on Ravelry

Sabrina said...

I don't have a shawl pin yet, for a couple of reasons. 1) I have only knit myself 1 shawl so far, but plan on more and 2) I haven't found one that i just LOVE, especially since they can be pricey. I'd love to have one, though.

PenCraft said...

I don't have any pins that were designed specifically as shawl pins. However, I do use pins that I have collected over the years to hold slippery shawls on my shoulders. I would love to have a "real" shawl pin and these are stunning!

Kate said...

I haven't used one before, but I really should! I wrap them around bandana style most often and it would keep the ends from flying out and unwinding from my neck. I'm an always-cold person and shawls are how I make it bearable, so I think maybe I should look into a pretty pin like these.

Zabbers said...

I own and use shawl pins, but so far, only have the kind that are just the straight pin part and not the circle, so they're super utilitarian. These are so beautiful.

kaykatrn said...

I have been drooling over Inna's jewelry for several months now, I love the way she winds the metal wire around the stones and itself! I have given shawl pins to three of my family members for scarves I knitted. Am right now watching a beautiful black pearl silver pin on Ingo for my niece. to go with some yarn made of pearls.

Rae Lynne said...

I don't own any shawl pins...not for lack of wanting one, though! I've yet to put the money out to buy a shawl pin, and I just haven't found one that was just right. These are beautiful pins, though!

In the past, I've used old pins of my grandmother's I received after she passed away. It's nice to use her jewelry, mixing something I made with something she owned. :)

I totally own a couple of shawl pins and I use them on my smaller shawls especially. . . I also gave a shawl pin to my mom for the shawls I've gifted to her :)

I don't own one, but I would like to! I find if I just wrap a shawl around my neck it often won't stay put, and if I tie it in back the knot bugs me. I think I definitely need a new shawl pin, ha!

I've never owned a shawl pin or used one. I've never made myself a shawl that I've kept but I am going to rectify that with MMarios Sakura design. Its to die for and I think I have the perfect spring time yarn for it. If not I might go with Bashful Butterflys. Soon I hope to have a shawl so i can own a wonderful pin like this one.

I do not have any shawl pins but a couple of times recently I have pinned shawls in place with a brooch particularily the smaller ones that don't go around me more than once. In fact I have pinned the shawl in place thru the top I was wearing underneath and it worked really well as I don't like to have to readjust myself all the time.

I don't have a shawl pin per se; what I do have is a small bone hair stick with a carved rabbit on top. I drool over shawl pins on etsy but there's just so many to choose from!

I use shawl pins - they're great for holding stuff in place when the weather would whip my knitting off me.

I don't own any shawl pins. I just began knitting shawls - and am dying to get one! I made some pins (the safety type) for my cousin's shawls (they're 7 - didn't want pointy weapons in their hands!) but would love to have one of the 'proper' pins for myself!

Sylvie said...

I have just one shawl pin, which I bought at Stitches Midwest last year. It seems like most of the ones available in shops near me are bulky and heavy - more suited to a worsted weight cardigan than a lace weight shawl. It's nice to find someone else making shawl pins that don't weigh more than the shawls that need pinning!

meeshelle said...

I own a couple of different styles of shawl pins - one stick style and the other is a pin-back style. I love wearing them like jewelry or an accessory on the shawl. I love then ones that are really pretty :)

I've got one shawl pin, and a few shawl sticks too. But Inna's shawl pins put mine to shame - absolutely stunning!

I love knitting shawls as well as wearing them! Sadly, I only own one shawl pin, it's out of sterling silver and I adore it. I'd love to own more, but it's hard to find ones I like. Several of Inna's are appealing and affordable too!

I have just begun to knit shawl. I have been knitting for less than a year. I have two on the needles. I am doing the wingspan which is very easy and the Holden. Also a relatively easy knit. I have not actually knit a shawl before. I had purchased a plain wooden shawl pin to hold closed a large cowl. However, it didn't really work. I think I'd enjoy using a shawl pin for holding cardigans closed instead. These shawl pins are beautiful.

sjanova said...

I have knit several shawls (not all for myself) and own several shawl pins, including from Inna! I usually take a pin with me when I wear a shawl and generally find them very helpful in ensuring that my hands are free, not holding on to a shawl to keep it in place. I recently went to a wedding wearing a shawl on its first outing and, oh dear, forgot a shawl pin. So I tied it in front (luckily, the ends were long enough) but it would have looked much nicer with a pin!

Oh those pins are just lovely!! I don't own a shawl pin yet although I do love to knit and wear shawls. I've been wanting to have a pretty pin for quite some time but the ones I found and loved were either too expensive or the international shipping costs were nearly as much as the pin itself would have cost. Sometimes I use a huge safety needle that came as a decorative detail on a skirt but it's not that pretty, way too heavy and just doesn't look delicate enough.

As always, thank you for a superb giveaway and a chance to win!

Kind regards,
