Now, for the extra treat winner of the Complements Collection giveaway:
CarolynEll
Congratulations! Please contact me at yarnonthehouse@gmail.com to collect your prizes.
I honestly think that most of the time things happen for a reason. Lately, I've been coming across more and more crochet patterns that I like and crochet patterns seem to be flocking to the YOTH site to be shown off to you. Is the universe trying to tell me something?! Is it time to bite the bullet and advance my crochet skills beyond the single chains I know how to do? This giveaway's featured pattern is a crochet one! Yay, for those of you that do crochet or for those of you that are willing to learn! This one's for you! But, don't fret you knitters out there, because the featured e-magazine I'm sharing with you is chocked full knitting patterns for your delight as well.
Meet Clotheshorse. This brand new, charming e-mag dedicates all of its patterns to the seasons hottest trends and fashions, and yes, their publication includes not only knitting patterns, but a portion of them are crochet patterns as well. That's just so great, I can't stand it! Check out their very first Volume 1, Spring/Summer 2012.
Do you remember when Heather Dixon from Army of Knitters was on YOTH? Well, she's co-contributor of this fantastic publication along with her friend and partner, Mindy. Read about how it all started on the Clotheshorse blog here.
I thought I would share with you some of my favorites from the first issue:

The cover design, Sweet Meadows, is my favorite! I love the name, the leafy lace, the delicate details, and it's a cardi!

This Peekamoose pattern looks incredibly comfy and so up my alley. I'm actually going to search my stash this evening to see if I don't have anything on hand to knit this for myself.

And, this Palladium tank is a hit!
Now, I want you to meet this giveaway's featured crochet pattern, Ampelus, and what you have a chance at winning!

I told you I may need to learn how to crochet!! Isn't that gorgeous?! One lucky follower has the chance to win a PDF copy of the Ampelus crochet pattern and three skeins of Claudia Hand Painted Yarns Linen in the same darling colorway, Seashells:

I would like you to do the following if you would like to be entered into this week's giveaway:
1. Read over the rules if you have not done so already.
2. Leave a comment on this blog post by the end of Sunday, 5/20/12. Hop over to Clotheshorse, take a look at the premier issue of their e-mag, and let us know which pattern is your favorite? And, let them know what you think. Do you like the patterns? Is there anything you would like to see in an upcoming issue?
I'll randomly pick the winners in 2 weeks and post the results along with the new giveaway, so be sure to check back. Good luck everyone.
Sincerely,
Ve

Definitely Sweet Meadows. I'm older and it's one I could wear. Many of the others are great--but not at my age.
May 7, 2012 at 7:15 PM
I like the sweet meadows pattern, but I don't think I could pull it off... however the peekamoose sweater is awesome looking!
May 7, 2012 at 7:15 PM
Sweet Meadows, a bit longer.
May 7, 2012 at 7:44 PM
I like the Willow dress. :)
May 7, 2012 at 8:41 PM
I think Shokan is really fun . . .
May 7, 2012 at 8:54 PM
I am in love with the crochet patterns in here. Sometimes crochet gets left out of pretty / trendy things so it's nice to see some sprinkled in here. I've fallen for the Zinc pieces, they're amazing.
May 7, 2012 at 8:54 PM
I really like the sweet meadows cardigan. Very classic - I think I'd make it in green.
May 7, 2012 at 9:36 PM
Sweet Meadows is my favorite too.
May 7, 2012 at 9:48 PM
I really ike the Peekamoose sweater- it's the one item that would best fit my style and preference: simple and comfy, but interesting. I liked the jewelry pieces as well.
May 7, 2012 at 10:09 PM
Willow, Peekamoose, and Arethusa! Actually, I want EVERY pattern in that mag! Wow! I may need to learn to crochet... lol.
May 7, 2012 at 10:45 PM
I love willow and arethusa equally. Such a nice little mag! Thanks for the intro
May 8, 2012 at 1:12 AM
LOVE the Shokan bag. And the crochet jewelry made me think, hmmmmm - might need to try that!
May 8, 2012 at 3:23 AM
I love all the patterns but my favourite is Calypso - just wish I had the body confidence to make and wear it!!
May 8, 2012 at 4:29 AM
Calypso and Platnum are my favourite. they all look pretty great though!

May 8, 2012 at 5:53 AM
Great trendy patterns. I love Cobalt and Mapledale. Opposite and flattering.
May 8, 2012 at 5:55 AM
either Sweet Meadows or Arethusa are my definate faves, though I really like all of them!
May 8, 2012 at 6:11 AM
I really like 'willow' the dress in the beginning of the magazine! I love the patterns, they did a great job of selecting things that are trendy and that you want to make! Thanks for the chance to win. I am a bigger crocheter but after looking at these patterns I really need to work on my knitting skills!
May 8, 2012 at 6:34 AM
I like Cobalt the best. :) Very nice magazine, though, and different from the others out there (Twist Collective, Knitty, etc). They have a nice variety of patterns.
May 8, 2012 at 7:23 AM
Kangath on Ravelry said . . .
Chromium is my favorite. Simple, but it's a vest I would actually wear. I love the drape and variety the panels provide.
May 8, 2012 at 7:36 AM
I love the Palladium tank and Cadmium!
May 8, 2012 at 8:14 AM
I like Thetis a lot, and Mercury, as well as all the jewelry. I like the concept, but would love to see more of the fashion ideas translated into items that are easy to wear for more shapes of people.
May 8, 2012 at 8:49 AM
I like Platinum best, I'd say!
May 8, 2012 at 8:55 AM
Sweet Meadows is my favorite, but maybe I'd make it a bit longer. Most of the designs are a little too, ahem, revealing for my bod.
May 8, 2012 at 9:00 AM
Thetis or Cobalt both look like something I would enjoy wearing. Being a Critter it is nice to get both knitting and crocheting in the same magazine.

I LOVE the Orea bag! I I think they have a great mix of patterns--something for everyone.
May 8, 2012 at 12:49 PM
I love Palladium, though the chemistry nerd in me loves the names of that entire collection. And the Claudia linen? I've been dying to try it.
May 8, 2012 at 1:57 PM
I like the Orea bag.
May 8, 2012 at 2:17 PM
ok WOW...I LOVE Willow, Shokan, Egeria and Mercury is my favorite!!! Those are great. I would love to see ANY of the patterns though. I Just learned to crochet myself not to long ago and love to see patterns that have both Knit and Crochet in it now.
May 8, 2012 at 2:25 PM
Willow. Willow has to be my favourite! Belle Ayr is cute too though.
May 8, 2012 at 3:44 PM
I like Egeria, a cute little sweater
May 8, 2012 at 4:20 PM
Sweet Meadows is so pretty. Also like Shokan.
May 8, 2012 at 7:32 PM
ooh, I like several, but Palladium is what I would be most likely to make right now. :)
May 8, 2012 at 9:40 PM
What an amazing collection of unique patterns! I love Peekamoose. I'm also wishing I had the body to pull off Willow... :)
May 8, 2012 at 11:24 PM
I like the pattern Zinc.

I love Willow!

I really like the Zirconium necklace
May 9, 2012 at 4:08 AM
I like the Cadmium wrap/dress and the Rhodium the best along with some of the jewlery. There might be more patterns I could wear, but I prefer fittet clothes with many details and I didn't wee to many things to suit my style.
May 9, 2012 at 7:32 AM
Chromium is very nice! I love that they have traditional as well as more modern designs - very cool.
May 9, 2012 at 4:00 PM
I definitely like Egeria the best. Love the shorter length.
May 9, 2012 at 8:22 PM
Love the Sweet Meadows!!! Thanks!!! Stephanie
May 10, 2012 at 7:15 AM
Loved Platinum was a very cool scarf. I liked the issue, was clearly themed and had a variety of projects.
The variety of projects also was quite esoteric, not something you could wear practically :(
May 10, 2012 at 9:17 AM
My favorite is the Peekamoose sweater. I looks comfy but still sylish and perfect for keeping away spring, summer, and fall chilling breezes.
May 10, 2012 at 11:01 AM
I love that Egeria! I could see me wearing that over a tank top on cool summer evenings!
May 11, 2012 at 5:24 AM
loved several patterns...liked the Sweet meadows cardigan and the crochet jewellery a lot!

Egeria, although if I were making it for me it would have to be longer ;-)
May 12, 2012 at 3:15 PM
Loved all of these patterns in this emag and will definitively continue to follow them. Thanks for the heads up.
May 12, 2012 at 5:27 PM
Really great e-mag! Love the layout and all the photos. The patterns are all gorgeous and so young and modern, love them all but Arethusa is my favorite :)
May 12, 2012 at 9:44 PM
Orea bag. Morea Necklace is really pretty too. I'm all for accessories today ^.^
May 13, 2012 at 7:27 AM
Sweet Meadows...Shokan...so hard to choose one.
May 13, 2012 at 6:15 PM
Cobalt is my favorite. What a great publication. Thank you for the introduction!
May 14, 2012 at 10:30 AM
Well, I like Sweet Meadows too; although not for me -- I'd make it for my daughter.

I would make the Peekamoose--looks so comfy!
May 15, 2012 at 11:44 AM
Most of these patterns do skew younger. I'm under thirty but not much I'd wear, too short for me. I did, however, love the willow dress. I love Claudia's yarn. She is actually a local dyer for me!
May 15, 2012 at 2:45 PM
I love Sweet meadow... really inspiring...
May 15, 2012 at 5:08 PM
I really love most of the patterns and love to see crochet getting a look in as well as knit. Faves would be the dresses, willow and calypso, the arethusa skirt and the asymmetric wrap/poncho that started with an e... I should have left a tab open...argh!
May 17, 2012 at 7:34 AM
Oooh, I'm thinking maybe a striped Cobalt is in order...
May 17, 2012 at 5:36 PM
Sweet meadows for the win!
May 18, 2012 at 9:05 AM
I love Sweet Meadows but then I've got a thing going for leaf motifs currently so that fav shouldn't surprise me! The magazine is great, edgy but not "out there".
May 18, 2012 at 4:42 PM
I like the Syrinx top, the Cobalt hoodie, and the Chromium sleeveless cardigan. I also like the Calypso dress, but I'd make it a little shorter, and wear it like a tunic over blue-jeans. I love the variety within the patterns; crochet, knit, tops, bottoms, dresses, wraps, bags, jewelry. There's sure to be something for everyone.
May 18, 2012 at 10:53 PM
I lean towards the sweet meadows top as something that I'd actually wear, but as far as what I think is my favorite pattern.. Calypso dress. If only dresses flattered my fat, often unshaven, legs.
May 19, 2012 at 12:34 PM
Cute patterns - I love Peekamoose and Sundown the best.
May 20, 2012 at 6:58 AM
Overall, there are some great patterns. I love Willow and Maple Dale, but I know they won't be right for my body shape.
Added to my queue are: Pallidium, Cadmium, Rhodium, Chromium and Platinum --- So, basically all of the sport luxe section :)
May 20, 2012 at 1:23 PM
Cobalt is my favorite, I like the hookie in a lightweight fabric. Glad I snuck in before te deadline!
May 20, 2012 at 11:31 PM
I love the Palladium - it's so cool and elegant. And the yarn is gorgeous! Thanks!
