giveaway #115

The six lucky winners of the unclaimed skeins are:

welshcob, Christine Lima, Becca, Amanda Vondrasek, Faye, & Fabiknits.

Congratulations! Please contact me at yarnonthehouse@gmail.com to collect your prizes.

Over the course of the last 3 years I have received so many lovely gifted skeins of yarn from indie dyers that were featured on my blog, but somehow several of these gorgeous skeins have been plopped into my never ending yarn stash to not see the light of a knitting day! So sad! I think these lonely, forgotten, stunning skeins of yarn need to get into someone's hot little knitting fingers and quick, don't you?! They deserve it! So, this quick giveaway is in honor of all the sweet, talented, creative dyers out there that sent me gift yarn and the bad, mean, unworthy blogger (me!) who deserves to gift them to you, my wonderful, faithful knitting/crocheting, blog following friends.

GA115

Two deserving followers will each receive two skeins each and a little stitch marker treat.

I would like you to do the following if you would like to be entered into this week's giveaway:

1. Read over the rules if you have not done so already.

2. Leave a comment on this blog post by the end of Sunday, 7/28/13. What color or color(s) do you seem to knit with or if you are anything like me, stash the most, just in case there's ever a need to knit enough items to cover the entire world population in?

I'll randomly pick the winners in 2 weeks and post the results along with the new giveaway, so be sure to check back. Good luck everyone.

Sincerely,

Ve

I love all shades and variations of teal, so can't resist buying it, but I love .... well, let's just be honest, I love yarn and am in the relatively early stages of stashing, so I find it pretty easy to justify just about anything!

I find myself knitting with blues and greys and reds, but would love to break out a bit and try some yellow or green!

Green is my #1 weakness, but I also really love coral, sunny yellow, plum, and gray :)

I look best in and tend to stash rose tones--and then I love purple--and then I have a passion for the perfect brown. So, I stash more than I can ever knit--but maybe it will allow me to live to be 200 so I can knit all these skeins. Maybe? You think?

Renee Anne said...

I've found myself gravitating toward jewel tones (blues, purples, greens) but I also have a love of neutrals and I even have some of everything else in my stash (even yellow and pink and orange - all of which I don't like much).

::sigh:: I love yarn.

knittynurse said...

Good Lord! If teal or any shade of turquoise green was the fountain of youth I would live forever. I have an impressive collection of those colours in many different yarns but i have knit not one thing in that colour. Something I must remedy as soon as I finish blue socks and a purple sweater. The most recent FO ~ grays and purples Stash vs. Knit mismatch!!

I tend to stash teal, purple, blue and green. Which is also what I knit most, and what I wear most.

The colors I'm drawn to at this time in my life are "sea colors" – shades of blue/gray/green/teal. In the past I went through a red/pink/salmon phase. Who knows what the future will bring!

I stash mostly blues & greys, but do purchase yarn for specific projects in colors the prospective recipient would like. I also purchase white, yellow and green in baby yarn to make blankets -- if I don't make them in advance, I just can't keep up with blankets for co-workers and family.

I love jewel colours, strong reds, turquoises and blues - but they are not always easy to wear though.

Kitten With a Whiplash said...

Blue is my weakness, when I buy at the LYS. But I also shop a lot at thrift stores, where you just take what they've got. I find that helps keep my stash balanced not just in terms of color, but also fiber and weight.

Blue, lots and lots of blue of all variations. Throw in some purple, red and random skeins of yellow and green and that's my stash.
Pink however, is not allowed in. I think I have 1 skein of pale pink to make noses on stuffed animals.

Blue and green are my favorites, but I also have a ton of purple in my stash.

I really do try not to stash much. I use a lot of blues and reds and purples for myself, earth tones for my daughter, neon brights for another daughter, browns and greens for DH. I always have a hard time deciding on a favorite color - I love them all!

I lean toward blue tones. There are a fair number of neutral skeins too. Very, very few reds.

I seem to buy orange but can never find anything to knit that I would wear that is orange!

I love blue & purple and most all colors. It's hard to pick sometimes.

katrina said...

The colour that I tend to stash and never use, or not even buy in first place but drool over, is a kind of bright pinky, peachy gold. It's like sunset and dawn and I love it, but it's not a colour which would look particularly good on me, and I'm afraid that no one else would properly appreciate it. Therefore, I take it out of the stash and pet it every so often. It's one of the only yarns in my modest stash that I don't have pattern or people plans for.

In looking through my stash, there really isn't one color that sticks out, but rather a theme: sock weight tonal yarn. I can't resist it when it is a really strong tonal with a lot of white / pale tones with the more saturated color. Also, I tend to hoard bright, cheerful colors as well as neutrals. Not too many autumn tones or super dark colors.

it would be so awesome to win this as I'm recuperating from an anterior cervical dissectotomy with fusion surgery on my neck area. In other words, the removed the ruptured discs from my neck, replaced with cadaver bones, screwed it all together with a titanium plate.
