Congratulations! Please contact me at yarnonthehouse@gmail.com to collect your prizes.
Over the course of the last 3 years I have received so many lovely gifted skeins of yarn from indie dyers that were featured on my blog, but somehow several of these gorgeous skeins have been plopped into my never ending yarn stash to not see the light of a knitting day! So sad! I think these lonely, forgotten, stunning skeins of yarn need to get into someone's hot little knitting fingers and quick, don't you?! They deserve it! So, this quick giveaway is in honor of all the sweet, talented, creative dyers out there that sent me gift yarn and the bad, mean, unworthy blogger (me!) who deserves to gift them to you, my wonderful, faithful knitting/crocheting, blog following friends.
Two deserving followers will each receive two skeins each and a little stitch marker treat.
I would like you to do the following if you would like to be entered into this week's giveaway:
1. Read over the rules if you have not done so already.
2. Leave a comment on this blog post by the end of Sunday, 7/28/13. What color or color(s) do you seem to knit with or if you are anything like me, stash the most, just in case there's ever a need to knit enough items to cover the entire world population in?
I'll randomly pick the winners in 2 weeks and post the results along with the new giveaway, so be sure to check back. Good luck everyone.
Sincerely,
Ve

I love all shades and variations of teal, so can't resist buying it, but I love .... well, let's just be honest, I love yarn and am in the relatively early stages of stashing, so I find it pretty easy to justify just about anything!
I find myself knitting with blues and greys and reds, but would love to break out a bit and try some yellow or green!
Green is my #1 weakness, but I also really love coral, sunny yellow, plum, and gray :)
I look best in and tend to stash rose tones--and then I love purple--and then I have a passion for the perfect brown. So, I stash more than I can ever knit--but maybe it will allow me to live to be 200 so I can knit all these skeins. Maybe? You think?
I've found myself gravitating toward jewel tones (blues, purples, greens) but I also have a love of neutrals and I even have some of everything else in my stash (even yellow and pink and orange - all of which I don't like much).
::sigh:: I love yarn.
Good Lord! If teal or any shade of turquoise green was the fountain of youth I would live forever. I have an impressive collection of those colours in many different yarns but i have knit not one thing in that colour. Something I must remedy as soon as I finish blue socks and a purple sweater. The most recent FO ~ grays and purples Stash vs. Knit mismatch!!
I tend to stash teal, purple, blue and green. Which is also what I knit most, and what I wear most.
The colors I'm drawn to at this time in my life are "sea colors" – shades of blue/gray/green/teal. In the past I went through a red/pink/salmon phase. Who knows what the future will bring!
I stash mostly blues & greys, but do purchase yarn for specific projects in colors the prospective recipient would like. I also purchase white, yellow and green in baby yarn to make blankets -- if I don't make them in advance, I just can't keep up with blankets for co-workers and family.
I tend to knit with a lot of blues and neutral colors.
I usually go to blues and purples or bright colors.
I'd have to say blue.
I am always drawn immediately to purple yarn ALWAYS! Its like I cant help myself, however I dont knit exclusively for me, so I would say I knit the most with blue and neutral colors, but if its for me, its usually purple! What an amazing giveaway, I love the yarns.
I love jewel colours, strong reds, turquoises and blues - but they are not always easy to wear though.
Blue is my weakness, when I buy at the LYS. But I also shop a lot at thrift stores, where you just take what they've got. I find that helps keep my stash balanced not just in terms of color, but also fiber and weight.
I think for me it's grey/cream/blue/pink :)
I tend to go with blues most of the time. Blue seems to go with everything.
Shades of blue and teal are my go-to colours.
purple and green
I love all the colors. You just need to find the perfect pattern for each:)
I've amassed a good collection of red yarn, I just realized. Funnily enough, lime green is really my favourite shade and I am now on the hunt for lime green stash to cover myself in...
I tend to knit shades of blue the most. I guess I'm reaching for the sky.
having had a look at my stash.....I have to say I am a colour 'tart'....I seem to have a huge assortment, from neutrals...across the spectrum, I even have yellow and pink which aren't colours I wear!
Mostly blue and purple shades that I seem to knit with and stash all the time.
I tend to knit with purples, grays, and greens but lately I am seeing more orange and yellow popping in. I like that!
I have a very large tendency to buy greys from silver almost white grey to charcoal.
Blue, lots and lots of blue of all variations. Throw in some purple, red and random skeins of yellow and green and that's my stash.
Pink however, is not allowed in. I think I have 1 skein of pale pink to make noses on stuffed animals.
For socks, I knit with orange. Orange! But, I'll stash nearly any color if it makes me gasp.
Currently, my faves are in the green/gray/blue family. Love to work with the brighter colors for my grandchildren. Just plain love yarn!
Definitely purples...I also love magenta...but I'm trying to knit shawls in more classic colors (tans, greys, creams). But I do love my jewel tones!

I've definitely been on a blue/purple kick that I can't seem to stop.
I definitely tend towards blues and purples, though I'm a sucker for any heather.
I'm always surprised that I have so much blue and green in my stash! It's not like those are the only colors I like, but apparently I gravitate in that direction. :-)
I knit with all colors, and stash all colors too.
I tend to stash more greens and purples. I gravitate towards them in the store. But, ironically, they aren't the colors I seem to gravitate towards to knit with. I knit more with blues.
I love orange but you can only have so many pairs of orange socks so I've been trying to buy colors that I can wear with work clothes - gray, brown, blue. Much less fun but practical.
my stash is heavy with green & greys. love it!
Thanks for the giveaway! I tend to hoard shades of teal and purple. Peacock colors!
I tend to lean toward autumn colors: rust, brown, tan, etc. I just love the color brown!
I love blues. For a while, I thought it'd be a good idea to knit outside my usual color schemes, but I think I need to at least stick with colors that go with the blues I wear so much.
Blue and green are my favorites, but I also have a ton of purple in my stash.
I really do try not to stash much. I use a lot of blues and reds and purples for myself, earth tones for my daughter, neon brights for another daughter, browns and greens for DH. I always have a hard time deciding on a favorite color - I love them all!
Last time I went through my stash I had to promise myself I wouldn't buy any more red yarn ...
LOL I tend to go in cycles where I had a ton or orange/yellow, than in another area I have shades of blue, and suddenly I find being drawn to pink/purples they seem to call to me from indie dyers
Fracksmom
I end up with a ton of pink, though I never thought of myself as a pink person... maybe I need to get over that!
any shade of purple!
Bright, fucshia-ish pinks and also purples. I always mean to branch out more but always end up with the same colors.
I always buy jewel tones to stash away but the yarn colors I actually use & wear the most are black & grey.
In my stash I have lots of purple and pink. I am especially drawn to pink yarns, but I seldom wear pink so I end up not knitting them. Perhaps I just need to put them in big glass jars as decor! :-)
I find my basket (and storage tubs) full of blues/greens/purples!
I like the blues and blue-greens - lately I seem to be drawn to vibrant blue-greens especially, though I have yet to make anything for myself out of that colour!
I stash reds and greens, because they're my favourite colours. But it seems from looking at my projects that what I actually knit a lot is purple...
I lean toward blue tones. There are a fair number of neutral skeins too. Very, very few reds.
I once wrote a blog post about how many single skeins of worsted weight green yarn I had, because I figured I could make a hat each time I bought one. I finally did make myself a hat ... it was yellow.
I have more blue/green variegated than anything...have yet to knit anything from it!
I seem to buy orange but can never find anything to knit that I would wear that is orange!
I love blue & purple and most all colors. It's hard to pick sometimes.
The colour that I tend to stash and never use, or not even buy in first place but drool over, is a kind of bright pinky, peachy gold. It's like sunset and dawn and I love it, but it's not a colour which would look particularly good on me, and I'm afraid that no one else would properly appreciate it. Therefore, I take it out of the stash and pet it every so often. It's one of the only yarns in my modest stash that I don't have pattern or people plans for.
I have an inordinate amount of teal and blue-green yarn - finished objects, on the needles, and in my stash. Love it.
I will happily knit with any color!:)
rosebob on ravelry
I like earthy tones and neutrals, but there is no predominant trend in my stash. I like variety!
I seem to knit with blues , greens, and reds.
I tend to knit/crochet with a lot of rainbow and variegated yarn. I just love it!
I tend to stash cooler colors (blues, greens, and purples), but I'm trying to branch out. Last night I dyed some handspun, a lovely shade of orange, but I have no idea what to make with it!
I love love love colour, so oddly enough the most common "colour" I've discovered in my stash recently is grey! Why? I love grey, but love a bright green or blue better. Hmmmmmm...
I suspect that by number of skeins or total yardage or total weight, my stash would come out heavily blue/green/blue-green!
I am drawn to blues, but then I make things with them and don't like how it doesn't go with the jeans I am constantly wearing.
Mine definitely falls into the blue and purples category. No matter how I seem to try to knit something else I go back to blues.
I seem to stash a lot of pink and grey, although lately I've been loving turquoise.
I stash, and knit with, a ton of dark red-purples. I had no idea how much I loved this color until I started knitting!
Any shade of blue will jump into my hands at the yarn shop.
I love most colours, but I tend to buy and stash blue and pink yarn :)
I seem to have a thing for the red spectrum. Anything from pinks to deep crimson...I just love them!
Green and orange. Green is my favorite color, and anything that reminds me of fall foliage gets me itching to knit!
Most of my yarns are usually in the pink family with a lot of peaches and browns too. Green and orange also make it in but for some reason I have a hard time buying blue.
I noticed a few months ago that my stash was mostly blue, so I recently have decided to branch out a little, now I have greens and reds and oranges and even some purples! Plus all my neutral colors of brown white and black lol
Lots of purples! And lots of greys and neutral blues!
I stash a lot of yarn in cool colors and neutrals. You won't see a lot of red, orange or yellow in my yarn cabinets!
Dark orange, alone or in combination with blues or red and yellow. My fave variegated yarns are always red-yellow-orange.
Lovely Lovely Pink :)
Green, pink and purple seem to be my favorites, otherwise mostly neutrals like brown or grey.
Yellow! It's my favorite color and goes with almost everything.
Pink! Something about knitting with the color pink, in any shade, takes me to my happy place. I have to say once I started knitting, I have found pleasure in knitting in all colors.
I like to knit with ecru and other natural colours, but I've got quite a stash of other yarns too built up over the years and need to keep knitting away...
Mine is anything grey or blue!
I stash, and knit, a lot of green. However, lately I've been going through a blue streak and have started pick up more blues in variegated skeins and colorways.
It varies from month to month. Which means I have a loud and multicolored stash.

I seem to love every color but somehow I always have a bunch of purples!
Rav ID nonosmom
I have been knitting with a lot of blues and purples lately. My heart is still always with the greens but for some reason blue has been on my mind in a way it never has before.
I go for greens.
My colors are pink and purple. Always have been. Probably always will be. Stuck in a rut...
I really tend towards corals/reds, love teal too. Most recently stashed some "dustbowl" and red and green, true to form!
Thanks V!
The Skein yarn looks gorgeous! All pretty yarns.
I really love yellow-green, grays, beige, orange-red, teal, eggplant, olive, lavender, taupe, and oatmeal are my favorites.
StaceyKnitsIt
I love anything pink! I am such a sucker for pink scarves and socks.
Cheers! Vikki
Various shades of maroon. All of the maroons.
I'm ShadowAP on Rav btw. Thanks!
Rich, gorgeous jewel tones break me down every time!
Much like my wardrobe, I'm usually attracted to yarns in blues and purples.
And also, like my wardrobe, I'm attempting to branch out :)
I am drawn to the blues, greens, teals and deep reds, and if I can ever finish the projects for everyone else, I can make something for myself from the stash.
I like most jewel tones, especially greens and blues
In looking through my stash, there really isn't one color that sticks out, but rather a theme: sock weight tonal yarn. I can't resist it when it is a really strong tonal with a lot of white / pale tones with the more saturated color. Also, I tend to hoard bright, cheerful colors as well as neutrals. Not too many autumn tones or super dark colors.
My goodness I am all over the place but I do have a lot of blues, greens & reds. I really need to step out of my comfort zone.
sherryglover1 on Rav
I seem to be drawn to grays, blues, purples and greens. And each January, when everything here is brown, raspberry brightens my days.
Girly colours for my two little daughters: pink, purple and shades of gray, just in case.
i usually knit in blues. this past year i completed an evenstar shawl and a top in basically the same colour (both purchased separately) and when i realised just how similar those two colours were, i put back that skein of random sock yarn because it was the exact same colour as the other ones were. oops =)
Looking at my stash it tends to be blues and greens which is odd because I don't have that much of those colors in my wardrobe. Maybe I am sensing the lack of these colors.
RavID: Eenae
I tend to be practical and stash a lot of colors my boys will wear as I knit hats, mittens, fingerless mitts, etc. For me I like jewel tones...
For me I like to knit in rich jewel tones or appricot, I know this is a big varation. But since most of my knitting tends to be for charity in the form of selling things and having 100% of the money going to the charity, Operation Gratitude or kids in need get what ever yarn is given to me.
BTW I like the knitting you are showing off. You are very talented.
i tend to use blues and purples but love all colours!

Heh, I just learned you can sort your stash on Ravelry by color! My stash is dominated by teal/blue-green yarn. So pretty!
I love blues, greens and purples

I mostly knit with blues, purples, and pinks.
My stash/projects tend to be greens, blues, and purples. But I am just getting started, and it's only from (steadily weakening) will-power that I haven't been buying more yarns.
My stash is heavy on blue.
mostly jewel tones of purple, green, and teal. I'm a sucker for that combo
hotknitter
I tend to lean towards to the cooler colours, lots of blues and teals and greens, with a bit of purple thrown in.
Blues, greens and gray for me though I love a just right red!
I am always, always drawn to highly variegated yarn and always pink!
I was looking at my shawls the other day, and I seem to have a preponderance of orange/coral/sunset/brick colors. Which is odd, because if you asked me my favorite color, I'd probably choose blue or green! Time to choose my next project; this time I'll focus on 'not-orange'!
I'm finding that I'm using a lot of purple and green lately. I knit for my daughter, and they seem to be good colors for her.
(Apologies for the previous submitted/deleted comment... my clicking went crazy....)

I tend to knit with blues and purples. I would say my favorite color is red, but I think I shy away from it when picking yarn for fear of having everything I own be all the same color. Now that I think about it, I think I should knit with red more often...
Reds and purples. I even started a (basically abandoned when I started working again) project to knit one pair of red socks a month in an attempt to stash down, and because I thought it'd be fun to have a year's worth of different red socks!
I'm always attracted to shades of lavender, periwinkle, aqua, and teal.
Blues, for sure! I just organized my stash by color, and I had twice as much blue as anything else!
I always seem to buy shades of teal. Mmmm teal...
Variations of blue seem to top all.

I like all the colors of the sea.
reiki on ravelry
There's never enough purple and teal. Just sayin'.
Usually I am knitting for other people but completed a sweater for myself in a lovely brown with flecks of other colors. The pattern was from quince and companies Knitbot essentials. I tend to like the colors from nature the best: browns from tree bark, greens from all the beautiful colors we show in the Ozark Mountains, sky blues, etc.
it would be so awesome to win this as I'm recuperating from an anterior cervical dissectotomy with fusion surgery on my neck area. In other words, the removed the ruptured discs from my neck, replaced with cadaver bones, screwed it all together with a titanium plate. I have a lovely neck brace I have to wear for the next several months and I am knitting while I recuperate. Can't lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk, no vacuuming or pushing/pulling.
blue. i knit mostly baby gifts and it seems that i always end up with variations on blue, whether for boy or girl.
Anything blue and green, in almost any shade or combination thereof. I'm really trying hard to break that habit and experiment with pinks and purples and yellows, but it's hard. Blue is so pretty!
It used to be purples...now it seems to be teals...or reds...actually if the truth be told it just has to be beautiful yarn
Nhsarab at yahoo dot com
I swing from blue/greens to reds/grays then purples. My mood and the stitch pattern usually help me make a color choice. I try to think of accent, compliment, or a really "wow"
fun color to perk up an outfit. Thank you for this giveaway!
txbdwatcher at yahoo dot com
I love knitting in variegated yarns and pinks and reds mainly. I must admit a secret desire to stash most colours though as I think they'll look amazing for lots of different projects!
I always end up with blues, purples, greens, and lots and lots of gray. Or, like with my current sock project, all those colors in one skein :)
Blue and green

ksurty@aol.com
I love buying blues and purples, but I'm trying to expand my knitting colours, so there's a few reds and greens now too :o)
If I had my druthers, the world would be wearing teal or dard aqua handknits. However, pink seems to be the only color I haven't stashed in quantity...wonder what that means?
Ocean blues and teals are the most frequently found yarns in my stash. There is a fair amount of pink yarn, too, due to having a six year old daughter. ( : I really love most colors, though, so I love any yarns. ( : Thank you! Stephanie (indigodogmt on Rav)
I love pinks and blues. Known to knit with purple also. If I am knitting a gift, I choose a color that suits the recipient! I also stash more than I use..
Oooooh yummy indie dyed is my favorite! For stash yarn, I usually go through stages of colour. I was on a teal kick, then it was golden honey yellows and then greys and naturals. It's funny to look at my stash and see what colour mood I was in that month! lol
I like any shade of Blue and grey, you can never have enough grey knits!

I tend to knit a lot of red and blue, two of my three favorite colors.
Blues and greens. Green is my favorite color but it's often hard to find clothes in a "good green". So when I see an awesome skein of green, I want it!
I love jewel tones, reds, blues, greens... Anything but yellows or bright oranges!
I'd always want to buy blue yarn but I find it nice to try different colors too!
I am not sure they are the colours I look best in, but they certainly speak to my heart: blues and teals, sometimes greens but not acid ones with too much yellow.
I also love natural sheep colours, especially the Shetland sheep greys, browns etc with their special dialect names :-)

Looks like I have a lot of blue and gray yarn. Lately I felt a strong attraction for green and yellow. I hate brown anyway.

looking into my stash I see shades of red, pink, and blue. Don't see any white or black hidden anywhere.

I realized recently that I had knit or was in the process of knitting something like 5 green sweaters. Might be time to branch out.
I seem to knit with a lot of blues, grays, purples, and browns. I think I have a bunch of sock yarn in my stash, even though I have never knit any socks. Crazy I know.
I seem to be partial to all shades of blue, but I'm trying to branch out and test the reds now.
Purple!!! And gray! They seem to be my most favorite colors to buy sweater quantities of yarn, at least!

Blues. Teal greens. Greenish-blues. That's what I keep coming back to, stashing, spinning. Love 'em.
I seem to gravitate to the variegated yarns, especially greens.
Blues and greens in all assortments!
I am notorious for only picking teal yarns, or subtle variations of that tone. I have so many teal yarns, unused, that I have actually taken to letting my boyfriend pick yarn colors out for me.
Still, I am always somewhat disappointed when the color he picks is not teal. asdjgadjgjdgj
I am not that picky for the sale yarn. I do have SABLE status, so it must be very beautiful if I buy it full price...or if I'm on vacay :)
I knit the most with jewel tones. I think I have a lot of yarn in blues and greens. Thanks for the chance to win!
I'm always drawn to shades of deep red or any other jewel tones. I can't help it!
I love neutrals and tonals... All colors really because it seems so unfair to choose just one. It all depends on who I knit/crochet for I guess. And depending on the season, the item... I am going to start keeping a journal of just that now... It seems to be a popular question.
Luv2CUSmile @ ravelry
I seem to be drawn to hand-dyed sock yarn and it fills the stash even though I much prefer to knit with a semi-solid. I also tend to buy, simply to stash, a lot of worsted wool in order to make socks, mittens, hats, etc. in the winter because that is what I get a lot of requests for.
Mostly blues and reds...but they don't stay in the stash long ;)

GREEN! And variegated.
I'd say that there are colours I like more than others, but then I will find myself at the local shop buying the colours that aren't in my favs ... ::sigh::
Purples and blues. My blue/purple basket of sock yarn is fuller than any other, and I have three different sweater quantities of blue and purple yarns!
Lately I seem to be knitting a lot of brown. Not because I've been buying it, I just seem to have a lot of brown in stash!
I seem to have many different shades of green
I knit in blues/greens/purples mostly. These days I am trying to branch out into reds and yellows just to mix things up.
Blues and greens seem to be my go to colors! Thanks for a chance!
Chelseyb5 at aol dot com
Deep saturated colors are my downfall, but then, my head can be turned by a soft grey as well.
I love muted, tonal greens, blues, and wines. Dark purples too. Not too crazy about solids or highly variegated.
Knittingmom9 on Ravelry
I knit with blue the most, and I stash it the most, too. Lately I have been branching out into greens and purples, though. But BLUE is my favorite.
All the blue-greens, not to mention tweedy looking purples and reds. Looked at two drawers of summer tops and guess which color stack is the largest!
BTW , to Alice - We aren't supposed to finish our stashes before we die ! 1) It is then no longer a stash. 2)We would have to stop buying yarn!!! 3)We would bitterly disappoint our knitterly offspring who have been looking forward to that inheritance!
Green is definitely one of the favorites as is purple these days. So much yarn so little time! I love it!
I always seem to come home (or from the mailbox) with blues and greens!
I seem to veer towards red these days. I never used to but it has crept up on me.
I love purples, greens and teal is one of my fans. I'm always up for trying something new...
